Tyrod to stay with the Bills

They worked out a deal. Glad they kept him, it would have been a giant step backwards for the Bills if they did not bring him back.

So how likely is he to be their starter?

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

He will be their starter, I'm mostly nervous to see how much money he gave up to stay with the Bills.

I'm mostly nervous to see how much money he gave up to stay with the Bills not be a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Whatever the price, it was the right one

The Cleveland Browns AKA the team that causes you to hit the reset button when they draft your NCAA "Campus Legend".

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I can't imagine that they would have restructured without planning on him being the starter for at least this season. It was that or let him go before 3/11 with no penalty

link, no mention of what the new money is though

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

The real question now is: Will the Bills actually keep a coach around long enough to build a productive rapport with TT?

Is that even a question?

Hopefully Logan Thomas stays the Bills too.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

was NOT looking forward to rooting for the Jets or Browns next year

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

The deal covers five years and includes a $7-million signing bonus, the Buffalo News has learned. Taylor's salary cap number for 2017 will be reduced from $16 million to just under $10 million, a source familiar with the agreement said.

After the first two seasons, the deal will runon a year-to-year basis.

So he lost a little money but I'd say the Bills made a good move and Tyrod will hopefully prove his worth if he can get someone to throw the ball too and a defense

They restructured his deal and more of money is being paid out in an upfront bonus. It helps this year, but not next year, as that gets prorated onto next years cap.

So more money upfront but a lower salary?

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Jet Sweep

His signing bonus is bigger, and his salary is for this upcoming season is lower. The bonus gets spread out over the course of the contract, which frees up more space now for the Bills to work with.

I'd take a pay cut not to go to the Browns, regardless of how good they will be in 2-3 years. History says they probably won't be that good.

2-3 years they will still suck. History is on our side.

Yea.....I guess?

Feels like he could have done better both financially and in terms of potential team success if he tested Free Agency but I'm glad he has a home.

Was with a life long Bills fan this week (lives up that way) and he was mentioning that most Bills fans don't love Tyrod. They don't hate him, and realize that at this point he is probably the best option. But they are all looking to the future and wondering who/what is next.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Tolbert joining the bills.

Shell of the player he used to be. Last couple years in Carolina he got stuffed more times than not at the goalline, which used to be his bread and butter.

That said, great locker room guy and should help the morale of the team. Should help with the settling in of the McDermott regime. Should end up being a good signing if not because of his on field play.

Considering Mike Glennon is getting 16mil a year, kind of shocked Tyrod didn't test out free agency more. It's not like the Bills treated him well or have any upward trajectory...
Especially stings because as a skins fan I am in the market of new rooting interests this year, but Tyrod staying in buffalo doesn't help at all.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised too. Jets are likely going to draft someone, Bears just took Glennon, and the Texans traded Osweiler to the Browns in hopes of landing Romo. I feel like Tyrod could have landed on either the Broncos or Texans roster, whichever lost out of the Romo sweepstakes. However, if Buffalo drafts Mike Williams and can shore up the OL, it will be interesting to see what he can do there this year with competent coaching.

The offense is not the problem there. There defense fell apart under sexy rexy. They need to completely redo their defense.

woah woah woah, the term Sexy Rexy is forever reserved for one Rex Grossman, AKA the one true Sex Cannon

Actually the original Sexy Rexy is Rex Manning.

Buffalo may be the only place where he is guaranteed to start (if he's healthy) and for the long term, he needs that. He gets $15.5M guaranteed this year, which was the amount of the team option for this year under the old contract, and isn't an unreasonable number.
