SB Nation: 68-team football bracket

SB Nation ran an interesting column today:

What a 68-team, March Madness college football tournament would look like for 2016-17

Apparently the University of Richmond was just outside the bubble, which is a shame, because it would have been nice to have all four of Virginia's football schools represented (ODU is listed as a play-in vs. Navy).

We would have walked to the Elite 8, and would have had a pretty good shot at the Final 4 in this setup.

Man, I wish it could happen.

I don't think that's a walk to the Elite 8. Here is the likely path to the Elite 8:
1st Rd: Baylor. This one should be pretty easy.
2nd Rd: Pitt. This game is not easy. Even at home it would most likely be pretty close and would not be wrapped up until some time in the 4th quarter if we were to win.
Sweet 16: Washington. Despite getting hammered by Alabama, they still made the playoff for a reason. Alabama was a bad matchup for them. Washington's offensive line just crumpled which killed their ability to move the ball. We did not have the same DL that Alabama did. They'd be able to get the ball to Ross and their playmakers much better. Plus their defense was very good as well. I'd put this at 60%-40% Washington. And I'd be thrilled with those odds. We could pull the upset, but it would still be an upset.
This is a favorable draw overall for us, it's still tough to get to the Elite 8.

Agree. I like our matchups in the 1st two rounds and I feel like we'd be able to do great against the Huskies. Unlike what happened to our basketball team (group of death), this would actually play out nicely.

Go Hokies

A 4 seed might be slightly generous, but I'll take it.

@CraigThompsonVT

If Miami and Pitt are 5's, then a 4 sounds accurate to me.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Hey Pat Narduzzi.....

I would have loved this so I wouldn't have to continue living the nightmare where Clemson are national champions. No way they make it through a tournament without losing, I doubt they make it out of their region with SoCal.

Noteably, these seeds seem to be determined post post season as Ohio State is a #2 seed, when they were one of the top 4 teams in the actual playoff system.

Pfffffftttttttttt. We would've crushed the Huskies.
