Disappointing to see.
Of note: WR Jaylen Bradshaw is no longer on the team. Hasn't been this semester, per VT spokesman. Online roster just updated today. #Hokies— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) March 23, 2017
It'd be nice to get that kid from Kentucky.

Damn, the offseason chatter last year suggested he was progressing well and would figure into the rotation soon.
Dang, I had high hopes for him each of the past two years. We needed someone to step up for WR depth and I thought he could break through.
He never really got going and also had an injury bug early on. I'm not surprised and with Fuente bringing in a decent amount of Receivers, he was probably falling behind anyway.
There's been a lot of discussion about attrition over the past 6-8 years, the reality is that guys just haven't worked out, some have had injuries and others are circumstance based. We hope the best for this young man in his future. and hopefully we have guys stepping up at Wide Receiver.
Yep, I hope he is continuing his education and potentially football somewhere else. Will be interested to see where he lands.
WR is starting to look a little thin, with guys like Farley and Deablo playing defense. And now Bradshaw done. Kumah is the only bigger body left at WR, although Patterson does have some height he's skinny. Maybe it's just me worrying too much, but For a team that plays a lot of 3 & 4 WR sets, having only 10 on scholarship seems a little light.
05 Philips SR
86 Carroll r-JR
12 Murphy JR
83 Kumah SO
08 Patterson r-FR
81 Denmark r-FR

88 Pimpleton FR
## Savoy FR
## Grimsley FR
Just my thoughts, but I would expect to see Keene line up outside from time to time. Sort of in a Bucky-esque role.
That's why I hope we get the kid transferring from Kentucky. I posted an article on the recruiting page about his visit to Oklahoma. It blew him away.
Fuente needs to roll out the red carpet
According to Bitter's tweet, Bradshaw has been gone all semester, which means Fuente & staff decided to put Deablo & Farley on defense this spring with that info already in mind. If they felt comfortable putting those guys on defense even after Bradshaw left, I'm not sweating it too much.
Also keep in mind it's possible walk-ons will step into contributing roles. CJ Carroll was our #4 WR last year as a walk-on.
I thought Farley was going to get a look on both sides of ball.
They said he would start at corner but Fuente made a point of mentioning that he'd get some looks on offense. I got the feeling that it was a point of contention amongst the staff and Bud got his way, but maybe I was reading too much into it.
Yeah exactly. We could be wrong, but it looks like Fuente knows something we don't. If WR depth were a problem I don't think he would have switched those two to defense.
It's just you worrying too much, IMO. We've brought in a ton of WRs over the last 2 classes and as previously mentioned guys like drake and keene could end up at WR plus we have players brought in as athletes who could end up there. Outside of Phillips everyone is pretty young, but it's time for us to develop some of the young guys.
this gives me the feels he was one of my fav guys off the field a great kid. hopefully he finds his way back. or moves on somewhere and gets a shot to live up to his potential.
I think Farley will come back to offense
Meh, he's been gone all semester and Fuente still decided to move Farley. In CJF I trust.
If you read his comments they left the option open for him to go to offense. They may just seem more up side on defensive end for him and I'm sure this was something he knew coming in as an early enrollment student
Probably the thinnest we've been at receiver since 2012 when Corey Fuller was basically all we had on a consistent basis.
With that being said, guys like Dyrell Roberts and Marcus Davis weren't exactly put in the best positions to succeed considering WR wasn't their natural position before college. I'm confident Fuente and Cornelson will progress the inexperienced guys along just fine.
Marcus Davis came very close to being our first 1000 yard receiver that season.
other than andre davis who had one before they counted bowl games towards the total.
I think he also came very close to being our first "1000 whiffed and/or half-hearted blocks" receiver that season.
Seriously? My mistake. I guess he was our biggest target. I just remember him making several, small mistakes that was extremely frustrating and shouldn't have been made by a senior. The fumble against FSU, the complete unwillingness to block before that video went viral, etc.
The blocking was frustrating for sure, but he was a monster when it came to making tough catches and was an athletic freak.
I think we will be fine. The difference between now and then is that we have a ton of options, who played WR in high school and played well, who just need to develop unlike in years past when as mentioned we had several players who were converted from other positions playing WR.
I agree. I think we'll be fine. A couple of the young receivers are redshirt freshman or sophomores, BUT this is their second spring since they arrived early.
Edit: Theory didn't check out. No need for comment to remain
Different middle name. Doesn't check out. I didn't even check the age after that. Pretty sure our guy isn't 21 yet.
Good follow up. Deleting to avoid confusion.
Disappointing - I recall him doing well in the spring game and it seemed
like he'd be a contributor.
According to 247, his academics took a big hit after his dad passed away. Really tough deal for the guy, and hard to fault him for letting things slip.
Wow, I'm pretty sure Jaylen's mom and his dad sat behind at me at the spring game last year (could have been aunt/uncle or cousin, but they definitely sounded like his mom and dad.) They were very supportive and sounded like very good people. That's just heartbreaking for Jaylen and his family, I wish them and him the best.
