Clark told The News-Journal he intends to transfer to Virginia Tech after a four-year stint at Ohio State. As a graduate transfer, the 5-foot-10, 186-pound wide receiver will be eligible to play this fall.
Not a lot of catches but another experienced WR can't hurt.
H/T to Alex Koma, didn't realize it was his account I saw the link from.

Any and all wide receivers are welcome.
Especially ones from Ohio State
Agreed. Without knowing anything else about him, I'd guess he'll immediately be one of our better WRs.
Guess that home-and-home worked out for us in more ways than one.
nice, more competition the better.... also heard Todd Nolen was finally enrolling!
Are you sure it wasn't Drew Harris?
Probably next year.
French, could you please tell me how excited I should be for this.
Love,
TKP
Not French, but six career catches. Obviously, doesn't tell the whole story. He's been hurt. He's been behind NFL talent. He's played in run-dominated offenses. Welcomed addition? Sure.
Not overly hype on this one, but gives us a veteran presence and also a key special teamer. Looks like he could be productive in a Fuente style offense, given proper mismatches, though.
Stupidly fast.

...he's the fastest kid alive.
4.38 40 yard dash. Is that good?

Dear God, I'm more tired of hearing that guy's name than I am of UVA fans telling me to wait till basketball season.
They've started already?
>Thinks about their new hashtag<
Makes sense.
Holy crap. Speed for days. Was that video slightly fast forwarded? I just woke up so maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me.
Either way, seems like a perfect fit for this offense. I hope he can get up to speed (no pun intended) with the system and contribute his final year.
His speed jumps off the screen. First couple of plays on his highlight reel looks like he will be a perfect fit. Excels in the screen game and has breakaway speed to take the top off the defense. Fuente and Meyer have somewhat similar offensive systems, so hopefully he can jump right in and contribute. Welcome, James!
Former 4* recruit with offers from OSU, Clem, Neb, Auburn, UF, Miami, PSU and Tennessee. Smart kid offers from Duke, NW and Vandy (his degree is in Finance).
Super fast, been hurt, has probably struggled to get ahead of a load of WR talent in C'bus.
With Henri Murphy getting hurt and Jalen Bradshaw hanging it up, he fits those two roles well. He's super fast and has basically produced like Bradshaw over his career at OSU. He could surprise and get 25+ catches for us next year. Could be a great end-around guy with that speed. Solid under-the-radar pickup.
When did Murphy get hurt? I thought I just saw some comments form his spring practice performance a couple days ago.
Wednesday, I believe. Scuttlebutt was that he was carried off the field. Hopefully it isn't serious, he's my sleeper pick at WR (I don't think he's just a speed guy, he attacks the ball well with his hands)
Agree. I was predicting big things for Henri.
What little I can find around the interwebz doesn't make it look good. I hope this isn't serious. If so, Farley needs to be on offense full time immediately.
I think that ship has sailed.
Hey guys - figured I would venture back over here after the news broke. Little bit about JC:
-Dude was highly rated coming out of Florida and was an elite track star. That being said, he's a track star playing WR. Doesn't run crisp routes, below average hands etc. I blame our WR coach for some of that lack of development.
-Career riddled with injuries and setbacks have cost him. Didn't plan to redshirt his freshman year but blew out his leg early in the season and had to medical.
-His low number of catches don't show how much he actually was on the field last season, he was probably our 5th or 6th guy so he got a decent amount of run the way we rotate WRs. We tried taking some shots deep with him last season in our desperate attempt to find a WR to take the top off the defense. Nothing connected, the most egregious being a ball that hit off his facemask against PSU in the 4th qtr
-That being said (and including my ignorance of your WR depth after losing Ford) adding a guy like this can only help your WR room. Still has above average speed, never got into any trouble and still could provide that deep threat ability. Also could be valuable in ST. Cheers and good luck this Spring!
Thanks for the insight! We all appreciate it.
The site crossover we have with OSU fans closing in on being two years removed from the series is pretty great.
Much appreciated and good luck this spring as well. I look forward to seeing y'all with a competent OC.
You and me both my friend!
If he is the guy I'm thinking of in PSU game, he was 1000% getting interfered with on that play and it should have been 1st down Buckeyes, no brainer call.
That aside, thanks for your input! Interaction with Buckeyes on this site has given me a new appreciation for your fans and program.
Oh ya the replays were pretty damning that PI should have been called. I was at that game so it stung even more. I'm not one to bitch about calls because so many are missed every game so I left that out.
You'll run into your mouth breather fan every once in awhile like with every program, but as a whole I think the younger generation of Buckeye fan (like myself) is growing to appreciate the history of the sport and not the thoughtless heckling of years past. I love visiting other stadiums (pissed I missed our trip to VT) and treat opposing fans the way I would like to be welcomed.
The trip to Columbus in 2014 remains one of my all-time favorite memories. Top-notch from start to finish (the win helped, but the people there were still awesome).
Thanks for the excellent synopsis. How disappointed is Buckeye Nation to see him go? That usually is pretty telling.
Being 100% honest and not trying to knock the kid, but this was a numbers move. We are at like 87 guys right now (need 85 by end of camp which will be no problem at all) and with JC already graduating, it's easy to move on from him. Glad he went to a great program tho.
This strikes me as a move that benefits all parties. He gets a fresh start with a new program, we get valuable depth and an intriguing prospect at a position of need, and you guys get a roster spot open from a player that just had just not worked out there for whatever reasons. Win-win-win from my perspective.
Thanks Nutz! Good stuff!
Somebody please find out about Henri! This is bumming me.
I mean who doesn't like nutz?
wait, what're we talking about?
Seriously, can we have another home-and-home with OSU?
Nice, thanks bucknutz. I just went back for a visit over at 11W and the comments make it sound like he was a quality guy. Can't have too many of them. Cheers.
We've seen that sort of thing from a trackstar WR at VT before:
Though I still maintain that this was partially on LT3 for under-throwing Knowles when he had the defense beat.
Is he a junior or senior?
Article calls him a redshirt junior. Apparently has used medical and normal redshirt years already, so would be a 6th year senior next year.
You don't get a "normal redshirt" if you used a medical redshirt. This fall he will be a 5th-year senior, as in 2013 he used a medical redshirt as a true freshman.
I think it's the other way around. You have to take the normal redshirt for an injury, but if you miss another entire year due to injury, you can apply for a medical redshirt and a sixth year.
He had played in a few games, which required them to apply for the medical redshirt.
Also, if you take a normal redshirt for reasons other than injury, you need to miss 2 years due to injury before you can apply for a 6th year.
Then some part of the article is wrong, because for him to have 4 years in the program but still be a junior he would have had to sit out 2 years. I'm just speculating on how he got to be a junior after 4 years.
your math is wonky
a regular junior spends 3 years in the system
a redshirt (medical or otherwise) gets him that extra year
so a 4th year junior (with 4 years in the program) would have only used one redshirt
And on top of that (to complete the clarification), in those 4 years he finished a degree, which makes him a grad transfer for immediate eligibility.
He is still listed as a Junior because the school year is still going on. 5 months from now he will be classified as a Senior.
Well that's profoundly confusing, football players are onto their next year now, and it's an article about football. We wouldn't call teller a redshirt junior. Oh well, hope he works out.
Disappointed that it took 32 comments for this:
It's all come full circle now
I thought maybe that would cap it off before the thread went completely south.
What's this football crap doing here? Let's try to stay on topic.
Sounds Good!

Hmm I'll try not to read too much into what Fuente thinks of our current young receiving corps and say he just wants to build as much depth as possible. How many years of eligibility does he have left? I guess he's had some medical redshirts so it's not clear to me.
One year. This fall he will be a 5th year senior.
He took one "medical redshirt" in 2013, his true freshman season, after getting injured in the 4th game and having surgery to fix it.
Where are you seeing that he is a senior? Article states him as a junior.
Maybe that's because school is in session and he's currently a r-Junior? He will be a r-SR this fall.
Also because I found his page on the OSU sports website, and read what it had to say.
So basically he's our Ted Ginn Jr.
He'll drop the majority of balls thrown to him, but the ones he gets he'll likely take to the house. More importantly, he'll force the defense to back off the LOS because of the deep threat, which should dramatically open things up underneath for us on his side of the field.
I like it when you put it that way. All of our other receivers seem to fit the "possession" mold, including the departing Ford and Hodges. It could be a missing piece that will open things up for us.
Denmark wouldn't fit into that category, but he also might not fit into the WR category either but rather more of a trackstar playing football. That was the confusing thing to me about moving deablo to safety. When he played last year he was used as a vertical threat. Jerod just never got it to him.
Yes!!!! We goin to Sizzlaas, We goin to Sizzlaas, We goin to Sizzlaas.....
I'm not an Xs and Os guru, but it seems to me that the Fuente offense produces enough options that force the defenders to freeze momentarily, that a speedster should get a couple shots each game to take one to the house.
I could see this kid running jet sweep, quick slants, and screens. Get him the ball quickly and then watch him hit the gas.
Just saw a video on YouTube of interviews with some OSU players before last season, including James Clark. DB Cam Burrows was asked who the fastest guy on the team was, and he said it was between DB Denzel Ward and James Clark. Clark is bringing some serious speed if he's mentioned as the fastest guy on the OSU football team.
I didn't think Oklahoma State was.... wait, sorry...
I didn't think Oregon State... ugh, I'm so confused.
That hudl tape was something else. Hope he can break some good ones this year.
