Behind a 92 percent completion percentage, 310 yards through the air, another 28 on the ground and 5 touchdowns Logan Thomas just asserted himself as the leader of this team. But stats be damned, no line can measure what that kid just did in Lane this afternoon. Logan struggled mightily against Clemson; everything he could have done wrong against the Tigers he did. Today he brushed the haters' footprints off his back and answered the bell, every single time we needed a score. Let's be cliché for a minute, that takes grit, heart, moxie, balls or some combination thereof.

It's incomprehensible the difference a week of practice, and perhaps a healthy shoulder, can make. He looked sharp running and throwing. The inaccurate throws and poor field vision that plagued his game in the first five games were tabled, for at least this week. It's unrealistic to expect a performance like that in every game going forward. That was legendary, a career day, and I'd bet the house it's a Hokies' best as far as completions to attempts are concerned. He's still a young quarterback with plenty of mistakes left to make, but I don't think they'll all come together again in a perfect storm like against Clemson.

At the very least we now know this kid has what it takes to grab the team by its collar and lead them to a win. And that's a damn good feeling, one about as good as 4 shots of NyQuil.

The Hype-O-Meter

Just shot up again.

Re the Logan truckage of Sean Spence:

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Also

Watch Drager at the end of the play....he's amazed too! I love that run!

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Stutter step...

then you can see the instant where LT says, "screw it" and just lowers his shoulder. Awesome.

what is more baffling

than his completion percentage this game and overall performance to the overall offensive stinker against clemson, i mean what the heck happened in a week?!?!

was it the shoulder?
is miami's d that bad or clemson's that good?

i'm speechless.

in any regard, GO HOKIES.

Poise

This is the first game he just looked and felt comfortable. If he just plays the game, and not try to think about the stakes of the game, he'll be fine. I'm sure, as stated, he'll still struggle in a few more games, but let's hope you just stays relaxed and not try to do too much.

No one in his grill

Unlike Clemson, Miami never pressured him from the front. He definitely seems to not like any pressure that affects his release. If in doubt watch where the pressure comes from right before LT starts making bad throws/decisions during the Clemson, Marshall, and ECU games and compare to App St and Miami. Against Miami, the only pressure he felt (and this was not often) was from the sides. Great job by the o-line.

What I Saw

Logan Thomas looked much more comfortable today. He threw the ball accurately and ran very well. It may have been the week of practice, it could have been a healthier shoulder, but the main thing that I saw last night was playcalling that played to Logan's strengths. There were many more designed runs for LT3. They were moving the pocket and letting him rollout and throw on the run. I loved everything about the playcalling. We ran much more read option, which may have been the weakest part of Logan's game tonight. He handed the ball off a time or two when he should have kept it and kept it when he should have handed it off. But, that is part of running a read option, that is going to happen. Logan looked natural out there tonight. Throwing on the run, running people over, and leading this team to a W. Last week Logan's offense lost us the game. This week, when our defense was prepared to lose it for us, Logan took his team onto the field and led a methodical two-minute drill. AND, we cannot say enough about O'Cain's playcall on 4th and 1. LT3 up the middle for 6! That is all.

AND THEN YOU TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF

seeing that in the stands was amazing. i haven't watched the dvr yet, but i'm so excited to i can barely sit still. LT3 looked poised (thanks to a great night blocking by our o-line), the play calling was spot on, and just the overall game prep looked better. LT3 looked off receivers to find the open ones and had touch we have not seen yet from him (watch how perfectly that ball is dropped into boykin's waiting arms). i know there are still many growing pains to come from this young QB, but just seeing him play this way gives me hope i may not have had even before the season. seeing how great he CAN play lets us all know that great things are to come, and regardless of the hiccups along the way, it's all leading to something good.

LOGAN THOMAS IS MY QUARTERBACK.

...you know...

I may be the only one

Who got the Dumb and Dumber reference.

Another example of Logan's touch was on that 22 yard gain to Drager where he floated the ball over the Linebacker's head just perfectly.

HE JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER

Im so proud of the way Logan Thomas performed, I know last week against Clemson it was so hard trying to get hokie fans to understand that he is still young. He will have his ups and his downs we just have tto support him as our QB. I remember when Tyrod started playing the same hokie fans were saying the same thing about him as well. So with that being said Logan Thomas is writing his own legacy!

LETS GO HOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haters gonna hate (and they did all last week...), but LT3 rocks. Yes, he's young, yes, he's inexperienced, but the coaching staff said all spring that he was amazing. We just had to have the right play calling to prove it. I don't know why all of a sudden O'Cain decided to actually call the game to LT's strengths, but I am damn glad he did. That was a gorgeous game on LT's part, two perfect 2 minute drills (though I felt that TO in the last one, after DW got us down within the 20, was a little silly, but that was on Beamer not LT). I really really hope we don't revert to form though :( We've been so spoiled with Tyrod, we need to let the past be past and let LT create his own legacy. He can do it!

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

Lost my voice 1st qtr

Not sure if you heard the story of TT on the sideline telling LT right before the game winning drive, something to the effect of "this is your time to make your legacy."

That trucking, 3 yards after contact to get the first down.
