OT: Greg Grunberg (That Guy from That Thing) is on campus - updated.

For reasons I cannot figure out, Greg Grunberg (from Heroes, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Alias, etc.) is in Blacksburg.

It looks like he's doing some filming and challenging students to some stuff.

(I am pretty sure the answer is the Cookout on S. Main)

Anyone on campus want to investigate?

Edit: It was a commercial? For Citizen Watches?

question: if this guy bic'd his head, could he be Buzz's stunt double?

Ask him what it was like to be blown up by a Tie Fighter?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I mean we are a school known for Engineering and Technological development, could be some new show or maybe was invited to speak at some club/college end of the year banquet type of thing.

the man who was in Star Trek, Star Wars, and Heroes. He's worked with Hayden Pantierre, Kristen Bell, Ali Larter, Daisey Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Zoe Saldana, and Shohreh Aghdashloo, to name a few.

Its like he's living out every nerd's Make a Wish campaign

That's a highly qualified list of costars.

I don't know who any of those people are. Pics?

Google is your friend. You've heard of TV and movies, right?

You don't know who Kristen Bell is?

so far google searches have thrown up flags in our IT department, TKP has not. Just sayin. (and yes, I really do know who they all are)

I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure hokie07ME is playing coy to get people to post pics.

If that's not the case, shame on him.

If you play it, they will win.

I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to post the really good ones, but nice try!

I applaud the effort though.

Add in Olivia Munn, and you've got a winner

I'm not sure what you're conveying here, but this gif is amazing

Also co-hosts AMC's "Geeking Out" with Kevin Smith. (I hope AMC picked it up for a second season)

He started out on the TV show 'Felicity.'
The reason I know this is that my wife loved that show.

I hate that show.
Enough said.....

You sound like me when it comes to my wife and Gilmore Girls.

I hate it. I hate it so much.

We should start a thread about TV shows our significant others love, but we hate.

For me it's Pretty Little Liars and Dancing with the Stars, among others. Thank goodness PLL is ending soon.

Downton Abbey or Outlander for me. I have to leave the room if she puts either of those on.

Gossip Girl is horrible. It's about a bunch of rich and pretentious New Yorkers being really shitty people. And somehow it's intriguing because you don't know how the other horrible person is going to react to the mean back stabbing thing the other horrible person did.

Got you all beat. My wife's go to shows are those Real Housewives shows, and My Big Fat Fabulous Life

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

sweet holy jesus

you know no pain until your wife wants you to watch Korean dramas with her. good thing I have a daughter to fill that duty now....

Dance Moms.

I never really stopped to think how lucky I've been. My wife doesn't watch any of that crap.

My biggest complaint is that she won't watch The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad, but I just watched those when she wasn't around.

If its the same Outlander that my wife watches I am willing to overlook the plot and cheesy romance for the amount of boobs that appear

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Makes note to check out Outlander...

Aye Sassenach

My wife watches Charmed all the time. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

If my then-teenage brain is correct, as the seasons went on with worse and worse ratings, they progressively lowered Alyssa Milano and the others' necklines and made them run more. Or maybe that was just what I was watching.

Anyone else remember "Relic Hunter", aka "Tune in this week to see how we get Tia Carrere down to her underwear"?

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I'm pretty sure Charmed always had low necklines (and short shirts).

Tell me more about Tia Carrere.....

Yup.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

And here I thought Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder were bad. Occasionally I've come home to the Kardashians being on and am glad that's rare because i viscerally despise that show.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Scandal is pretty good, despite the circuitous plot lines every season. HTGAWM jumped the shark and I stopped watching while my wife felt too invested.

Kardashians being on and am glad that's rare because i viscerally despise that show.

This is what the housewives show does to me. I get agitated just hearing their screaching, and if I'm in the room for more than 15 minutes with it on the tv I end up in a shit mood. I always go find some project to work on if she has those on.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

My wife watches every home improvement/flipping show out there. Can't stand them but it has helped her become really good at updating/upgrading our homes and helping them sell fast when we need to.

Those are our go-to "least bad alternative" (or whatever the phrase is) when more than two adult kids come over. So much more palatable than any of the "reality" shows. And no one cares if you talk during the dialog, because it's all the same anyway.

I'm a grown man and I love "Outlander," so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

As an Architect, I cringe watching most of those shows. They do a lot of things that I would call "ill-advised" at best.

Like painting brick. I don't think you should ever paint brick. Ever.

My wife and I are with you on the painting of brick. We cringe every time they do it on any of the shows.

Yeah - we just bought a house and we eliminated one from contention because the brick was painted. Especially when we saw the google street view of the house before it had been renovated.

Also, I kinda' had high hopes for this show - but it was not nearly what I thought it was going to be:

Say Yes to the Dress. Worst show ever.

I must be broken. I don't mind Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy, Friends, etc. For the most part, as long as it's not "reality tv" or competition (e.g. the voice, dancing with the starts, Kardashians, Real House Wives, etc) I'm fine with whatever she watches. I'm fortunate she doesn't watch any of that stuff. The only thing I've said 'No' to was Scandal and that's just because we were watching House of Cards.

Oh, Dude, I know what you mean.... When I met my wife, she was really into Gilmore Girls, then Sex in the City, then a series of painful rom-coms.... Grey's Anatomy was my limit. I had to make her watch some scifi stuff to level it out.

Go Hokies!

This is why we have her shows, my shows, and our shows. Anytime we're together we will always switch over to one of our shows.

Using /s is for cowards.

So did anyone ever figure out what this was all about?

Is it bad that I assumed he was trying to say that this guy was coming to town to sleep with college girls, something I think is a little creepy at his age? Do I have to turn in my Hokie card now?

Nah, but our spouses watch shitty TV, so we got that going for us. Which is nice.

I feel pretty lucky after reading about all the shows everyone is forced to watch. The worst my wife subjects me to is House Hunters International, but I actually enjoy it. I like seeing the houses and it's fun making fun of the couples on the show.

If you play it, they will win.

We could do an entire thread on house hunters shows. They are the greatest to people watch.

When watching HH, the house they visit that's unfurnished is almost always the one they buy. Part of the contract to get on the show is to already have an accepted deal in hand before HGTV shows up. The other 2 houses are normally houses of close friends or family that isn't on the market. International is different but for regular, it's pretty much cookie cutter that.

Oh, I know it's fake. I still like seeing the houses in different countries and the people watching aspect.

Last night we watched an episode from DVR where they were in Ecuador and the woman kept going on and on about wanting a walk-in closet. It cracks me up when these idiots move abroad and want everything to be just like back home. The whole point of moving abroad is to experience the way the locals live not make everything like home.

If you play it, they will win.

"How the ass pocket will be used, I do not know. Alls I know is, the ass pocket will be used." -The BoD

Hah, yeah HHI always cracks me up because of the completely unrealistic expectations.

I'm just saying, I've noticed my wife has completely lost interest in House Hunters once I showed her the trick. Completely takes whatever drama that show has out of it. I'll still catch her watching Love it or List it (mainly because they've been filming in Raleigh for the better part of 2 years now), any of the shows by those Property Brothers, or Shiplap... I mean Fixer Upper.

All I can think about for this entire subthread:

"Craig and Stacia are looking for a two-story A-frame that's near Craig's job in 'the downtown' but also satisfies Stacia's need to be near the beach—which is nowhere near Craig's job! With three children, and nine on the way, and a max budget of seven dollars, let's see what Lori Jo can do . . . on this week's episode of You Don't Deserve a Beach House!"

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Hah!

My wife just got into a show about people who just won the lottery buying homes. They had one couple on in Cali who won $180m and ended up buying a 12k sq ft home with a 7 car garage on top of a f'n mountain and ended up buying up about 1000 acres of land surrounding it including a horse farm and another mountain for something like less than $10m total.

I'm just saying, there are some houses in this area for that price tag, let alone all inclusive shit like that.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

I watched the lottery dream homes once or twice and was disappointed. I wonder how many of the people spending their million dollar prize on a million dollar house realize they have to pay taxes on those winnings and then upkeep on that house.

Yeah, no kidding. Most of the ones I've been watching recently have been playing it smart. Invest at most 10% of the winnings into an out of pocket house, and the rest into the markets to let the winnings grow. But yeah, even the one who won $180m with the purchases they made I was shaking my head. Yeah, sure they might be able to pay the property taxes on everything, but the upkeep of a 12k sq ft house is going to be a full time job in itself. I could never imagine doing that.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Guess I'm lucky because the biggest issue in our house is the list of TV shows we both want to watch, but are not allowed watch without the other one.

I'm about ready to delete TLC off our guide. Various configurations of 600 lb life and Hoarders....
