So I'm about to graduate and need some new video games to play this summer, it's my first summer break since 2003 so looking to find some good Xbox one games. Anyone have recommendations?

That's what I'm leaning towards, hopefully I can play as a club and get into EPL.
If you want an extend challenge, try starting with Portsmouth in League 2. They actually have their real stadium in the game which helps a bit with the immersion. Would take awhile to get into the EPL, at least three seasons, but would be a fun challenge.
I'm only taking one class this summer towards my next degree tier so I'll have some free time while the younger three are in preschool and oldest is doing camps this summer.
If you're into sports games (FIFA, NFL, NHL) you can get EA access for $5/month or $30/year and play all of the most recent sports games they released. You also get a bunch of other EA games to play too. You don't technically own the games, so when your subscription ends you lose them, but if you're going for a summer, $15 and you can play just about every EA game as much as you want.
If you like racing games, Forza 6 is really good. Pretty deep "career" mode. Tons of replayability.
Dragon Age trilogy, Mass Effect Trilogy (well, 2 and 3. Play 1 if you're really bored.)
Just because the combat is clunky doesn't mean it isn't arguably the best game in the series.
I agree, but it can be a rough intro to the series. I bought them all at a sale at GS and started 1 immediately. After the first couple planets of using the Hammerhead, I lost interest for a few months. Popped 2 in just to see if it got better and it did. Played 2, had to play 3 to find out what happened next, then went back to complete 1.
I can agree on ME1 not aging well at all and being weak gameplay wise compared to ME2. I'm just a big-time world building nerd.

It's a shame. After ME 3 I went back to start a complete playthrough all over again and switch up my choices, and 1 was a bit of a slog. The shame of it is that the story in one still pulled me in like almost no other new sci fi universe I can remember, the gameplay just didn't hold up. ME 2 was by far my favorite, although I played ME3 multiplayer A LOT

I like conquest as well, but you need a good squad that isn't full of snipers hiding in the hills. I only play conquest when I have 4 other friends online, otherwise you get steamrolled.
I just started playing again since there's not much else coming out anytime soon but I typically play operations in bf1. Have you played the new maps?
I haven't played any new maps, my friend says they are pretty good. I am content with the old maps for now though. I do like operations as well when I have a long time to play.
I'm all over the place with what game modes I play in battlefield. BF3 I pretty much only played rush. BF4 only conquest. BFH mostly heist some conquest. BF1 pretty much only operations. I usually play with 2 other guys and we found that conquest in BF1 was too hard to carry a team with only 3 people but operations we could most of the time so we went with that.

Thats why rush is more manageable with smaller numbers. I do find that we arm the bomb most of the time as others are oblivious. Yes i am on the xbone. Cheesenut
I looked up my BF1 stats to see if I had even played rush and I played 7 games: won 2, lost 5. I think that's probably why I stopped playing rush haha. (My operations, for reference, is 193/31)

I'm graduating (as long as I don't bomb my finals) second week of May. I also left my job to go,to school and be around more for the kids. Plus 3 youngest kids go to preschool and oldest will be doing camps every other week this summer: cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, cooking, science, space.
Also, for some inexpensive gaming, if you are a fan of Metroidvania style games, there is a gem on XboxOne Store called Steamworld Dig.
Think it's $5 these days.
And it's sort of sequel, Steamworld Heist, is a tactical squad turn based strategy game on iOS that's some of the best $6 I've spent on gaming, on any platform
A friend of mine just gave me Ori and the Blind Forest, and it is a crazy entertaining platform game. I would highly recommend it
I got this for PC on sale so it was only $5, but I've been enjoying a couple play throughs of Rebel Galaxy. Maybe 30 hours of gameplay per play through and there's a lot of room for customization (ships, weapons, enhancements, etc) and trying different approaches (pissing off different factions). My first play through I stayed on the straight and narrow (friends with citizenry and militia, enemies with all pirate factions) and was annoyed that certain ships/components/weapons are only available from pirate bases. Currently trying to survive having made an enemy of the ubiquitous militia while still trying to earn the trust of the pirate factions.
The developers put a lot of emphasis on faction relations. There are some OP enhancements you can get for your ship, but not only do you have to earn enough money to buy them, but you have to have really good relations with the faction selling them so that drives your choices. Even your choices in talking to ships of each faction can help or hurt your relations with them. Throwing insults is fun and all until you realize doing so just dropped you from neutral to hostile and now any ship of that faction that sees you will engage. Or if you are smuggling contraband and a militia ship scans you, your standing with them plummets and it takes four or five pro-militia missions to bring it back up.
Anyway, think of this as GTA in space with more customization and everything is on a ship level of interaction, rather than a person level. It's really fun starting off having to run from almost every fight and then later having a powerful enough ship to take on all but the largest fleets. Also, the ship choice variety is impressive. Not every ship that costs more is necessarily an upgrade because of your play style. For instance, your most powerful weapons fire to the side (broadsides), but you can load your ship up with auto-firing turrets as well. Certain ships put all the turrets on the front so you can play more like a fighter (fly right at your enemies) and these turrets are mostly useless while you're firing your broadsides. Other ships have turrets in all directions so you can focus on avoiding enemy fire while the turrets just shred on their own. Then there's speed/maneuverability to consider. Do you want a flying iceberg that laughs off damage and can take out most small ships in a single volley or do you want something fast enough to get in a large ship's blind spot and eventually take it down? They do a good job of having a combination of enemies capable of taking down any ship you build if you choose the wrong tactic. That flying iceberg? Not great against a swarm of heavily armed, but lightly armored fighters. Likewise, the maneuverable medium grade ship can get blown out of the sky if you wander into the wrong firing arc of a dreadnought.
No multiplayer, but given that I just play over lunch at work, there's no stress of trying to match schedules with friends online.
Man, Rebel Galaxy was so good. I think of it more like the ship combat in Black Flag but in space. Plus the soundtrack was fantastic.
Soundtrack was good but too limited for how many hours you end up playing. Glad they let you customize the music because AC/DC makes for a really good substitution.
I never got tired of the swamp rock actually. Those songs were stuck in my head for weeks.
I play ESO and destiny since I'm an mmo rpg fan, new destiny is out this fall and next month June 6th the morrowind edition launches for ESO in starting back up on ESO after a bit of a break the game is phenomenal with lots of content
I just got ESO a few weeks ago when it was $10 on Gold.
Just hit level 10 and loving it so far. Mostly playing solo though as the social tools seem a little awkward at times.
I agree that the social interaction is the hardest part of this game but to give you an idea of how much content there is, I am currently level 48 and it says I have only played 3% of the total content so far. I probably have over 100 hours into game play to give you some idea. Its phenomenal, especially the differences in all the different areas of the game and how the characters vary. I think the one regret I have is that I should have read up more on how to create the best character first before getting into the game as I have found most characters close to my level crush me in one on one combat, especially when I get out on a campaign. There is definitely a better way than I did it, just have to figure out what it is.
As an MMORPG vet, I did a fair bit of reading up on current builds before jumping in. I am more or less Min/Maxing a Magicka Sorc. right now.
I do really like that ESO allows for mostly solo play if one chooses to still enjoy the game fully. With 2 kids and CFP study I very rarely get 2-3 hours of uninterrupted time, so to log in and knock out a few quests and read some lore just like its a single player ES game is very appealing to me. I played a raid healing Priest on WOW PvP server for years and have no desire to make that type of time commitment again
Tell me more about this game y'all have peaked my interest.
elder scrolls online
It can be purchased pretty cheaply on the Xbox store now, but it is a persistent online RPG set in the Elder Scrolls world. There is no ongoing fee once purchased unlike a lot of other games of this type.
If you aren't familiar with Elder Scrolls, its the game series that has had:
Arena
Daggerfall (an awesome game in its own right, but really dated now)
Morrowind (still a really good play)
Oblivion (IMO the best)
and Skyrim (the one most folks would be familiar with now)
All of these are MASSIVE open world single player RPGs (made by the same company that makes the Fallout games now)
Elder Scrolls Online gives you access to the entire world if you will, whereas the previous games in the series were one province at a time.
To give you an idea, these games have so much going on you could literally spend hundreds of hours just reading the books that were written specifically to be found on bookshelves and what not in the game with lore. It can be a little daunting for someone that has never played one, but as mentioned it actually is extremely solo play friendly, which is not common for a game of this type. Lots of options including just exploring or questing, 6 fully developed crafting professions to make gear or sell to other people. Just a ton of stuff to do.
So I need to renew my Xbox live subscription then.
I think its playable without having Gold, but to get it cheap requires the paid subscription I think.
Unless it's changed recently, you need a Live subscription (or Playstation Plus on the PS4) to play it on a console.
I have to have Playstation Plus. I also signed up for the additional ESO Online membership but you dont have to have it but it makes playing the game much easier, especially in terms of how many items you can carry.
One annoying thing I have found is that there are some things you pick up that you cant get rid of regardless of what you do so they eat up bag space.
As a crafter I had to buy the ESO plus as well makes hoarding crafting mats easier I used to hate using the bank always filling up too fast
Bank was damn near impossible to use to build up crafting. If you didnt have the ESO Plus you would have to go out to find just those items needed for your next writ. One item I can never seem to find is Garlic for the Provisioning line. Seems the first few items on the writs all need garlic and I never find it in any bulk.
That's why of all the crafting trees provisioning was one I stayed away from I played before this craft bag and was the smithy for a massive guild so my inventory and bank space was just jammed with all metal working, clothing mats, wood making mats and all the trait stones and ore you could stack up playing with that character was a pain as I never had any room but since I started playing the other day this craft bag is a god send now I can actually store like armor and weapons in my bank!!!
On the social menus part of the game I have people I know from real life I play with but I've had very good luck meeting others through the game by doing the undaunted dungeon runs and the daily random dungeon runs usually you can find a solid group and knock them out and if your lucky you'll find a few good people to play with on the regular to make dungeons easier to do, I've yet to try a trial but I'm itching for it
Also excited to see the battlegrounds stuff I've not seriously delved into the mass scale pvp in a serious manner but the battlegrounds interests me as a small scale pvp format
Dungeon runs just leave me feeling discouraged because I get in with guys that are like level 160 or above and they lay waste to an entire room while I am having trouble fighting the weakest critter. Its amazing what some of those guys are capable of and I have made a few guild connections that way but I also seem to get on when there are fewer people playing.
As for the Campaigns (battlegrounds) my only major complaint there is the distance between castles that you are supporting. If a castle is under attack, you cant morph into it so you have to exit the nearest castle and ride to the rescue. The rides end up being a bit of slow torture because it can be five to seven minutes riding between castles. They need to find a way to reduce the distances. Other than that the gameplay is pretty great, as you get to utilize ballistaes, gate rams, trebuchets, and all the old siege vehicles as part of your attack. I have fought in a few battles that actually went on for almost an hour each. People work to repair walls and gates as well as part of the defense. Much easier to find a good group there to work with going castle to castle either to attack or defend. Only real downside I found is that I just get the itch to be back in the regular gameplay after a couple hours of battleground.

dungeon runs are to me personally what makes ESO stand out the dungeons have fun twists and are always challenging, atleast they were pre one tamriel update i have yet to try one in the current setup but at 260 champions points i feel they shouldnt be a huge difference from vet dungeons back in the day which were so hard yet very fun with a good group. The daily random dungeons are great way to get good at dungeoning if youre new to the game the vet chalenges are really for experienced people who have done a few dungeons i never had good luck the first few times through on vet level but once you get the hang of each boss after a few wipes it gets easier youll learn which ones suck the hardest like the pirate king in blackheart cove i hateeeeee the final boss with those nagging skeleton mobs. Im really excited to try hunting for good moster sets again back in the vet rank days theyre never dropped now they drop alot so im stoked to get a set for some sweet traits!!
The mass scale pvp is so unidque with the trebuchets and such its unlike anything ive ever touched it can be laggy but the intense battles can be awesome. On the insane travelling i hate that side of it but i only pvp when in in a large group where if i die they can just revive me so i dont have to do all the running makes for a more pleasant experience i prefer long range trebuchet harrassing and bring walls down makes it satisfying to see a wall come down then a flood of attackers and defenders meet at the hole
XBox made a change a bit ago where you no longer need Live Gold ($) to play multiplayer unless through Lives servers (think CoD, etc) The free Live Silver will do for MMOs that use their own servers like ESO

I think you still need Xbox live to play it but for 45-50 bucks you can get a 12 month sub the game was 13$ on amazon the other day I bought it for my gf she plays on my home Xbox one I play on my one S and I only need one Xbox live membership so it's a win win
I always found Morrowind's combat pretty clunky even way back when it was released. While the lore and story in the game is definitely the best out of the bunch, the engine itself just feels dated.
Honestly, the combat is probably the weak part of every game in the series.
In PVP character creation can effect end game ability kind of but that's why I like ESO so much is every character can do bout anything I have a stamina nightblade that can switch to magika healer even each character is diverse in its own way so you can switch it all up to try a different combo of gear and skills to max some stuff out, I've logged countless hours maxed a few characters out and still haven't come close to completing half the game it's huge beyond scale.
If anyone on here plays on the NA server I'd be glad to run dungeons or quests or make some armor for fellow Hokies I've researched about every trait and am happy to make high level armor sets for free

I ran the VoG last night for the first time since they brought it forward. My gosh is that raid fun. And I got all the best drops (IMO) including Mythoclast and Fatebringer (Adept).
Destiny is still a strong game.
I think VOG was the best raid they made. If you were down people it was still doable unlike kings fall. Also, I hate you I ran it so many times trying for the fatebringer and never got it. It always seemed like my brother got it every time.
Rocket League is cheap and simple fun. It's Soccer with rocket-cars.
Overwatch is fun if you like playing team-centric games where your team doesn't seem to understand the objective and lets you down 80% of the time
Rocket League is so ridiculously addictive. You always seem to think you're getting better and then you just get pooed on consistently.
It's such a great game. Quick 5 minute games, and pretty easy to pick up mechanics. I use it to cool down after I rage out on my OW teammates
I try to use it to cool down then run into some random teammates that get on my back for missing a shot or something then I just drink beers and go through the buzzed curve where I'm better at the game after 2 and after 5 I get progressively worse...
Prey is coming out soon and looks like a solid Sci-fi thriller shooter. Rocket league is a really good game. Fallout 4 is really good if you are interested in a first person RPG and you can make the game as long or short as you want.
I played the original Prey years ago and haven't been able to get past the fact that the new one is a completely different game purportedly using the same IP, but in reality only related by name.
What kinds of games have you enjoyed in the past? The 'Bone has a fairly extensive library, since they added backwards compatibility with a ton of 360 games, just asking for suggestions means you're going to get a huge variety of responses.
Wanted to leave it open ended so I didn't rule out anything. In usually play NCAA football, battlefield, Cod And games like it. But want to listen to any suggestions.
As an aside, I have never been a huge multiplayer FPS fan (honestly, my favorite is still probably playing Day of Defeat with my roommate back in West AJ)
But the new COD WW2 looks like I might have to dip my feet into those waters again here once it releases.
I'm not much of an FPS guy, and with sports games you pretty much know what you're going to get (though we haven't gotten a new NCAA game in a while), but if you're wanting to branch out into RPGs here are a few suggestions:
- Mass Effect Trilogy (sci-fi epic with a huge overarching story lasting through the third game, where decisions you make early on carry through to the end)
- Dragon Age: Inquisition (fantasy epic from the same group that made Mass Effect, building somewhat off of two earlier games in the series)
- The Witcher 3 (huge open-world fantasy game, never played it but from what I've heard it's better than Dragon Age in pretty much every way; I couldn't really get into the first two games in the series however)
If you're looking for a strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 are both really good options. Futuristic games where you are leading the fight against an alien invasion.
Witcher 1 and 2 are very fun in their own slightly obtuse, complicated way.
Witcher 3 is just so much better than they are (and most other open world games) in every single way though, and I would not say having played the first 2 is necessary to enjoy the 3rd, although it certainly helps just to know the background. 3 has one off side quests that have better stories than the plots of most games. My love for that game is well known on these gaming posts though, haha.
That jives pretty much completely with what I've heard about it. Playing the first two is "nice, but not required" to enjoy the third one.
Unlike the Bioware series (especially Mass Effect, but even some with Dragon Age), where if you miss story elements from earlier games entire segments of later games will either seem irrelevant or go way over your head.
TW3 is probably the next RPG I'll get to once I finally finish DA:I, which I picked up first mostly because I got so invested in the prior entries in the series.
So I hadn't played a good Action RGP since Skyrim so when I saw TW3 mentioned in the last gaming thread I decided to give it a try. I have never played 1 or 2 and after about a month of 3 under my belt I have to say that I love it. The main story is a little distant at first because I had no previous attachment to or knowledge of the primary characters attached to it but it gets better. However as many people have mentioned the stories attached to the side quests are better than anything I have ever seen in an RPG.
I tend to be somebody that can bore of a game quicker than most if it drags out too much (ie. I never actually finished Skyrim) but I have to say that after a month I haven't bored of TW3 at all.
Dont worry on not finishing Skyrim, especially with all the DLCs it had. I probably had 250-300 hours invested in that game before I just let it fall out of my rotation. I still probably had half the game to play at that point.
DA: Inquisition was the first game I got with my One.
I really enjoyed it, but never had much of a desire to playthrough again after beating it.
I have played through W3 three times (once as each spec more or less), and found new wrinkles every time.
Funny side note: I am a beta tester for the Gwent standalone game on Xbox. It's a multiplayer version of the awesome card/collection mini game in Witcher 3. Gwent alone is more fun than a number of full games i have owned

One game that's overlooked in FPS shooters like cod is titanfall 2 all DLC is free and the game is really good
Just picked this up the other day.
I'm pretty bad at FPS but its also one of my favorite games to play online, and I've enjoyed Titanfall 2 so far.
7 Days to Die. It is a cross of minecraft and the walking dead. It is available for xbox one, PS4 and PC (Steam). PC is the best choice as it is still in Alpha so they are releasing more content still. The Xbox version was released as a final game and is already behind the PC version.
You have to harvest, mine, and scavenge materials to build you defenses, weapons and food so you can fight off the zombies. While there are zombies constantly in the game, they get more active at night and then every 7th night a horde comes for you that you have to be able to defeat.
There is a free browser game (with option to pay for premium membership features) called die2nite that is a lot like this only its a town of 40 people all working together to survive as long as they can.
Give it a shot if you are looking for a fun time killer that you need to actually use some strategy, as everyday each member of the town has limited action points to do various things to help the town survive another night. The server updates eac night and calculates who lives (if anyone), this is based on defenses, dehydration, being stuck out beyond the walls of the town, etc. Longest town I was ever in made it 11 days I think

Ditch the xBox and plant a garden. Nothing like eating your own produce, and you can keep your hose skills sharp in case you want to go back to fire fighting.
4 kids under 6 that garden wouldn't last one outside play time, my HOA wouldnt allow one big enough to make a difference, I can buy produce right from the farms around SC if I really want to, I hate plants.

I hate tending to plants. I enjoy looking at other people's work and eating said work but the work of tending to plants nope.
So this past Saturday was my first free day in a while and I spent 1/3 of the day at the gym and working around the house, 1/3 of the day working in the garden, and 1/3 of the day playing video games.
8 hours of gym and housework seems like overkill...

I play in a firefighter "clan" there are about 200 of us including some women. It's great when we beat a group of kids who start talking about "I screwed your mom, wife etc" and one of the ladies chimes in with a I screwed ur dad joke.
I haven't seen it mentioned here, but with Destiny 2 coming out in the fall you should be able to get a Destiny ultimate bundle for pretty cheap. The online community is dying out a little, but there's a ton of single player goodness to be had.
Also you can find the ultimate edition Diablo 3 for next to nothing. Great for mindless hack n slash.

Yea I stopped playing when they announced that the season pass I paid for didn't cover the next dlc they were releasing. It was fun to play with friends but it wasn't $160 good.
and then completely changing up the gameplay so if you didnt buy it you got screwed out of the year 1 game you enjoyed.
Year 1 was phenomenal I'm one of the guys who played hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours on the original destiny, ahhh the good ol days of school with no responsibility, I thought the sheer feel of how the shooter played plus a strong good community of active players makes it as good of a FPS mmo I've ever played, still think ESO is best MMO RPG available on Xbox but destiny while their whole dlc setup is flawed the gameplay and rpg part of it are second to none
oh dont get me wrong, i loved the year 1 play. BUT, i refuse to pay for any DLC for any game. My thought was if you put your game on the market I expect to be buying a complete game for the asking price of $60.
I get the complaint there, but I honestly think even with the extra cost of all the DLCs, Destiny still owns the title as my highest hour per dollar ratio game in.... probably ever. It's a very good game, and Bungie actually does listen to the fanbase. I hope Destiny 2 doesn't follow the same DLC path, but I'm buying it regardless.

What made it unplayable?
I haven't played Destiny since a month after it came out, but I did play a bunch of Halo back when Bungee was still running the show, and I was a broke college student whose gaming budget was barely enough to pick up just the games themselves when GameStop ran a "B2G1" sale on used games and even then only once the games were $20-$30. I wasn't really willing to spend $15 at a time just to get a pack of 4 maps, when I can get the whole game including the campaign with 20+ multiplayer maps for not much more.
Matchmaking in those games was relatively unplayable after a year or two unless you'd bought the DLC, because as time went on they locked more and more matchmaking playlists to only those with certain sets of DLC. I think near the time that Reach was coming out, there were only two playlists open for players with only vanilla Halo 3, out of about 10, and one of those two was Grifball.
Knowing what I know about Destiny, it wouldn't surprise me if it's difficult for a person playing vanilla Destiny to team up with people that have all the DLC due to content restrictions (game areas, equipment, guns), and at this point probably most people still playing the game have bought most or all of the DLC.
When only a small percentage of the player base doesn't have DLC you pretty much have to funnel them all to the same lobby to have enough players to get a game going. The DLCs became free over time regardless.
Basically when they release the year 2 content, they changed how the game was played for everyone. If you bought the $40 DLC you were fine but if you didnt you got screwed. This link tells the whole story well

It hardly sounds "unplayable". They funnelled the small percentage of players without the DLC in to a few PVP lobbies so matchmaking would actually work. Making a whole different nightfall or heroic strike playlist was probably impractical the way the game was set up. Their mistake was not making it well known that these changes would be happening.
I guess I am more tolerant when I look at the sheer scope of the DLC packages. Some of the ones I have paid for are almost entire games unto themselves, just set up in the same enviroment. As part of ESO, I plan to prebuy Morrowind that comes out in June. Reading over what is being included, its equivalent or better than buying another game and it requires less space on my system and doesnt start me over in terms of learning the ins and outs.
This is also a good point. One could argue that vanilla Destiny wasn't worth the full $60 price tag due to lacking a plot, but I didn't really feel like I overspent for the content included in any of the DLCs.
That assumes the game is incomplete without the DLC, which is not the case much of the time. By not playing The Taken King you missed out on the best part of Destiny and the clearest glimpse of what Destiny 2 will look like.
If you thought that Destiny players got screwed, you definitely didn't play The Division. Great base game total shit show for endgame content.
The Division was awesome...at release. I played it non-stop for about 3 months. Haven't touched it since.
I picked it back up when the last DLC came out because I foolishly bought the season pass. It was addicting for about two weeks then fell off a cliff. Its a shame too, that game had such potential.
I still play The Division several times a week.
I really like Survival but not so much The Underground.

I haven't played with it in ages but World of Tanks has a console version that's supposed to be pretty good. I think it's free to play, too, or at least it should be since the PC version and all of the other Wargaming products are. Console has some pretty cool tanks that aren't in the PC version and also benefits from Wargaming knowing the exact stats of the platforms everyone is using to play (meaning better all around graphics since they don't have to account for players with potatoes for laptops like me).

WoT is a fun game and it is free to play. I recommend the download.
I also have to recommend WoT. Initially the learning curve is high, but stick with it and it becomes a very fun game. Matches only last 15 minutes so you can play a couple or binge play. I had two tier X tanks, but I did burn out on xp grind. Haven't played anything on xbl in about 6-7 months due to moving.

They made XCOM 2 for Xbox one and I love the game! Another one I love is Massive Chalice. You can probably see the theme here... permanent death of your characters and turn based strategy. Massive Chalice is an interesting strategy game in the since that its a "breeding" game. It was free on Gold a while back.
If also wasted a lot of time playing Battlefield 1 Conquest.
I got Chalice awhile back when it was free but played only a handful of battles and kind of set it aside. Sounds like it might be worthwhile to pick back up, the "breeding" component always seemed like a neat hook.
Not enough love for Titanfall 2. The best multiplayer I've played since CoD4 and it's even better than that. It is SO much fun to play.
And it's $22 at Walmart currently (PS4/X1)

I'm not big on PVP mainly because of the massive chubby I get when I get into a Titan (they need first person titan entry brought back though).
I dont feel like reading through every comment, but my quick, vague, skimming didnt see anyone mention Dishonored/Dishonored 2. I got the first one on sale on a whim and it is now one of my favorite games to date. Working through the second one now.
I'm not typically big into sci-fi stuff (usually play Battlefield, NHL, Forza, etc.) but Dishonored is a great mix of a tiny bit of sci-fi and FPS and it just sucks me in.
Thief is also a good one if you're into stealthy stuff.
NHL is still my most played game though.. Usually play a game or two every day.
If you like stealth, try the Splinter Cell Series. The last 2 you the option to go into full combat mode as well.
I had a hard time getting into DIshonored, but once I did, it became one of my favorite games. Bought Dishonored 2 but I'm saving it for summer, working my way through Witcher 2 first.
Favorite game so far is Tomb Raider Definitive, been waiting to play Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Will probably play Dishonored 2 first, because it's shorter, then will have to choose Rise or Witcher 3. Both apparently take a while to finish.
I had no interest whatsoever in the new Tomb Raider reboots, but I downloaded Definitive when it was free on Gold, and boy am I glad that I did.
That game was really really fun.
Dishonored 2 might be better than the first in my opinion. There are a few more upgrades and you can really go all in on the stealth or mayhem routes. You also get to choose between Corso or Emily as your character, so that add another element. Both have different upgrades (i believe..) and i've been told they have slightly different storylines. I'm doing my first walkthrough as Emily, and then ill switch over to Corso.
I had Tomb Raider on the 360 and it was a lot of fun. I bought my One in a package with the Definitive and Rise of The Tomb Raider, but I havent put much effort into either. Rise of the Tomb Raider seems like it'll be pretty fun, i just havent sat down with it yet.
I know it is not xbox but if you like strategy games that leave you overwhelmed, are a history nerd, like learning something challenging, and have the PC to run it, then Europa Universalis 4 is by far one of the best and most rewarding games out there.
This is a little bit after the summer but Red Dead Redemption 2 is supposed to be released this fall. If you haven't played it before you should definitely check out the original Red Dead Redemption. Everything from the music/scenery, to the gameplay was enjoyable.

Up to you in what you're looking for in ESO you could get the base edition for around 12$ which is plenty to get going in the game the dlc is on sale in their in game store for 40$ for all 4 dlc pieces so if you really liked the game you could get that stuff then but I wouldn't buy the most expensive version outright since the base game is outright massive
As for FIFA I prefer 17 it's good best graphics and such good improvements from 16 in career mode control ability and all but 16 would be cheaper
For Elder Scrolls I want to just do the one where I can roam around and do whatever I want.
Thats the beauty of the entire game, including the DLCs. Its all roam around and do whatever you want just . Start with the base game and once you think you need it you can add to it with DLCs. I think I ended up getting the DLCs as part of my ESO Plus subscription so that may be something to look at as you get further into the game.
Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is the branding for the base game on Xbox. It will be the least expensive on the store

Currently (still) playing Skyrim (remastered) on the Xbox One. For someone who prefers solo play how is ESO in that regard?
I would say it's the most solo friendly MMORPG I have ever played.
Most comments I have seen suggest you could play the entire main storyline in the game solo if desired,but that represents a relatively small part of the overall content.
I agree as long as you take time to figure builds out I've mainly enjoyed the game solo and groups to do dungeons can be found once you figure the social tools out, the base game takes a very long time to work through so for 12-13$ you can't beat it
I concur with the above. You may have some challenges with some of the dungeons but otherwise its completely fluid and is set up that you can approach most challenges all by yourself. Now occasionally early on, I would get to the end of a mission and get beat on a few times and then wait for someone else to show up to tag team a final guy but that didnt happen all that often. Since you are playing Skyrim, imagine the Skyrim landscape and board and then multiply it by a handful before the DLC's come into play. You have multiple unique environments to pursue the same kind of missions as Skyrim. Moving across the board is also easier as there are waypoints to jump from throughout the layout of each area.

Subscription service to EA games for a monthly or annual fee that is significantly less than paying for one of their games outright. You get access to all the EA games currently available on the site
That's... actually not a terrible idea. I usually don't advocate for video game subscription services, since I like the ability to replay games from years past.
But, if you expect to only have time to play for a few months it might make more sense to sign up for the subscription now and gain access to a ton of games, drop the subscription when life gets busy again, and then buy the games you really enjoyed playing once they've dropped to $15 each in a year or two.
Then again, it seems like you're about to get ESO, meaning you probably won't have time for a bunch of EA games, so maybe not the best idea after all.

If you enjoy racing and once you find time and space, then I'd recommend iRacing. It beats the pants off any console racing game. The downside is you'll need a computer with decent power to play it.
Wildlands is fun. Sandlot game like GTA but military. You can use AI for your squad or go online and team up with players. A bit repetitive but also addictive to get new gear, etc. Probably get a pre-owned version though, as it is not my favorite game ever. Tons of potential though.
Dark Souls! Fantastic series with great DLCs if you really engage
Also has a very steep learning curve and is very unforgiving. Not a series for everybody, but those who enjoy it love it.

Neverwinter is a game based in the D&D setting, Forgotten Realms. That is only related to Elder Scrolls by genre.

Been downloading FIFA from EA access pass for 2 days now.
Took me 3 hours to download the "right out of the box update" while on Tech wifi. Which is a solid 250 or 300 up/220 down.

How do you like it compared to D1? I put a fuck ton of hours in, ..but what was promised compared to what we got was super disappointing. I don't wanna shell out for D2 to only get a half ass story, then have to pay for DLC later on and get bits and pieces of story told through Grimoire.
It's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from D1 and in a much better way they got it smack on. It's different in a good way they changed a bunch but it still feels like destiny in the combat sense but they added in game clans, guided games, and public zones are full of life and lots of events that are well worth the time. All that and I get to the story which IS miles past D1 story it's much much better it feels like a halo story honestly the way it drags you in and doesn't leave you clueless or confused. I'm level 12 ATM progressing well but I've been pleasantly surprised around every corner it's better and better the more I play
Edit: completely forgot that a big part to the better feeling is in my entire time playing even on launch day I have yet to encounter any glitches or server issues which is big plus there's a map, fast traveling. I completely recommend it if you loved D1 you'll be realllkyyyyy happy with D2. Plus the exotics feel even better than before and the new sub machine guns feel cool
Gotta agree here. Destiny 2 blows nearly everything good about D1 out of the water. The weapon slots have changed a little, no more scrounging and grinding for God roll weapons and armor. I'm on ps4 and in a clan currently but if we get enough people on here who want to start a clan I'll give it a shot or join up if someone else wants to do it (please, I'm not organized enough for this). Got another hokie that'll be on and off some in a couple weeks. He doesn't have time to play alot but I played all 3 years of destiny with him and we legit dominated nightfalls in a 2 man fireteam

Wolfenstein II was great. I played the previous couple sneaky and strategically, but that was fucking impossible this time. I always got caught. Lots of run and gun with dual shotguns and praying I hit a checkpoint.

I've been playing through Rise of the Tomb Raider on XBOne lately, and it is a fantastic game. I do a lot of the little side missions so I've got a lot of time in it, but just working straight through the story supposedly takes about 12-14 hours.
It got really high ratings but isn't overly well known because it was released the same day as Fallout 4 which wasn't very good marketing.
Have hundreds of hours in FO4, but ROTTR is my favorite game. Clicked on all cylinders for me. Also amped about the movie.
I've got hundreds of hours into FO4 and I can't wait to drop hundred more in after the X1X enhanced patch comes out haha.
Loved the newest iterations of the Tomb Raider games. I think I finished both in the span of a weekend cause I just couldn't put em down.
Man Wolfenstein was incredible.
Finished The New Order and needed to kill more Nazis, so I got the new COD. Solid all around game. The campaign isn't as good as Medal Of Honor: Frontline, mostly to do with feeling like you're playing a movie with the long cutscenes and button mashing slow-mo parts, but the multiplayer is pretty great when the servers are working properly. Already logged 36 hours on multiplayer alone. Just sucks you in. Next up is The Fractured but Whole and then AC:Origins.
Been enjoying the heck out of Shadow of War lately with Destiny 2 being what it is I needed something to play and Shadow of War has been excellent.
As a massive Star Wars nut I was all in with Battlefront 2 until the whole fiasco with loot crates was revealed, the game looks incredible but right now I cant bring myself to give EA a penny with them refusing to get rid of the pay to win model which pains me greatly with the game itself looking fantastic. Same goes for Destiny 2 I felt it was gonna be better but it proved to be insanely shallow with no real end game so back i go to Fallout 4 to play the add ons and enjoy the mods.

My brother does but I haven't touched it. Apparently it is quite the epidemic right now.
It is a lot of fun. A lot more to it than a typical First Person Shooter. The best part of it though is probably the number of people and friends playing it. I stopped playing games on my xbox for a while, but started again with Fortnite because a bunch of my college friends from all over started playing it. Before this game, none of us really played together on xbox.
It's fun until I die and watch till the end of a match a think. I'll never be that good. Guys building towers into the sky so fast and shooting and reloading and changing weapons! It's insane.
If you think Xbox is fast, you need to watch some videos of the guys that play on pc and use hotkeys for everything. You gotta just keep playing and getting more experience.
To build towers quick, build 4 walls and then use the stairs and jump and build to move up. Then repeat going back and forth on the firection of the stairs.

I need some help and TKP is better than google reading a dozen articles. How do I get a decent character clothing and look? Also how do I get s better glider? I keep being beaten to the ground by people who come zooming past me.
I don't think clothes and glider are only for appearance. People make it to the ground faster by constantly free falling vertically and then opening the glider. You can get farther quicker.
That's what I do. I lean forward and go and the computer opens the glider at a certain height. Then some guy behind me will come down faster on what looks like an umbrella.
As far as I'm aware, it's all about timing and angle and not the umbrella/outfit. I've never seen stats anywhere for the different gliders. If you come in too flat you won't have the same speed, but you also don't want to come in too steep. Experiment a little with it.

FIFA World Cup 2006 for Playstation 2 will forever be the best FIFA there will ever be.
I was always partial to 2003. It came out my senior year of high school, and the soccer team at my school pretty much played it constantly. If you mastered it, you could score from like 45 yards out pretty consistently. It was the perfect combination of arcade-style and simulation; since then, its much more realistic and less fun.
I never played 17 and haven't quite gotten the feel of 18 yet, but you should be fine going with either. Might as well go with 18 if you don't know the difference to have the most up to date one. If you are trying to get into European soccer, then you should familiarize yourself with the champions league (available on fox) and r/soccerstreams to follow your chosen clubs' weekly league matchups on saturday and sunday mornings/early afternoons. If you have cable and want to get into EPL, NBC and their various affiliate channels have a ton of league games on Sat and Sundays. If you want to watch La Liga it's broadcast on the less common BeIN sports network so you might have to stream those games (like me). It's definitely worth getting into, the most intense part of the soccer season is in the winter and spring leading into summer so it perfectly fills the void of the college football offseason and will carry you right into the NBA playoffs.
I've been playing a lot of FIFA 18. It drives me crazy though. I pretty much only play online and I have no doubt the game increases the likelihood of goals in critical moments (the couple minutes leading up to the 45th and 90th minutes).
I think it also tries to even things out when one player is much better than the other. I've had this work both in my favor and against me. I've played people and by the 10th minute I just know I'm going to get smoked. My opponent is moving the ball at will and seems to know what I'm going to do before I do. At the end of the game he has 2 goals on 18 shots, hit the crossbar twice and has 60% possession. I have 3 goals on 5 shots and feel like like I got beat by 4.
But it's addictive. I lose a game in a way I think is bullshit so I have to play another and finish strong. Sometimes this goes on for a few hours at a time.
Def reccomend fifa 18 I've never had a better sport sim with good gameplay and it's the easiest I've played in years or maybe I'm good idk but the new manager mode is much better and as you said has updated rosters stadiums etc so you will be learning more relevant stuff
