Yeah, that's not actually a joke. The ACC just announced ND's slate of ACC games for the next 20 years, and...
2027 - Virginia Tech at Notre Dame
2028 - Notre Dame at Virginia Tech
2033 - Virginia Tech at Notre Dame
2037 - Notre Dame at Virginia Tech - Labor Day Matchup
I mean, the kids who will be freshmen and sophomores during this game haven't even been born yet....

I'll make sure to keep my calendar clear!
Anybody know of some good places to reserve a hotel?
Blacksburg if you can, or Christiansburg is a good choice as well.
DOUBLE POST.
I like Dublin personally, it keeps me away from a lot of the traffic.
You like Dublin, huh?
Dublin kid here. Good choice. Can't make any local recommendations though. What you see on exit 98 is all there is to do.
Consider taking Prices Fork to Peppers Ferry to US 11 to up your traffic avoidance game.
There are two ok hotels there on the hill that I can get for 45-65 a night with our discounts and it works great.
My parents used to do troutville after night games. They lived in Richmond so it got them a little closer to home and the hotel didn't require two nights not an increased rate.
I actually stay in Troutville quite often when we drive down for games. Cutting 30 minutes or so off of the six-hour drive from PA on a Friday night is nice, and we're that much closer when we leave for home on Sunday morning.
HERE
They won't have hotels by then. Elon Musk will have come up with a new technology making them obsolete.
Hopefully we'll have some Fullers on that squad.
That's actually a definite possibility as most of the kids who will play in that game haven't even been born yet.
this news went from absurd to exciting reaaaal fast
Tickets will be so expensive for this one I'll probably have to settle for the last row in the Upper North End Zone
Hopefully Lane will hold 85,000+ by this point.
by 9/1/2036, we will have held the Commonwealth Cup for 11,965 days
Great, I'll bring my currently unconceived teenage children.
2037... I wonder what Lane will look like by then?
Terror dome!
If my oldest follows my college path, we can go to that Labor Day game together as fellow alumni. He's still over a year away from starting kindergarten. My six month old will be a sophomore.
But wait, would Labor Day 2036 even be covered by our ESPN deal? I thought the current deal runs through 2036, which I'm assuming would mean the end of the academic 35/36 year.
Better start budgeting for tickets now, then, since we might not be able to watch on TV.
Hell, I may be dead by then.
I will be dead....
:(
Unless you believe in reincarnation. Then you will have just upgraded to be a great white shark.
I love that we're going to be playing the Irish several times in the upcoming future. Maybe they'll officially be in the ACC by then?...
EDIT: Didn't realize the OP didn't have the dates from Facebook as well: 2018, 2019, and 2021 as well
Nope. They're ND
Looks like we may only have to wait until next year to get them in Lane. This was posted on Virginia Tech Athletics' facebook page:
Edit: Apparently the embed is not showing on my phone. Looks fine on my work computer. Anyway...
Just announced - 7 MORE GAMES vs. NOTRE DAME
#Irish in Lane - 2018, 2021, 2028 & 2036
#Hokies at #Irish - 2019, 2027 & 2033
FWIW, the 2018, 2019, and 2021 games were announced awhile ago. The 2027-2036 games are the new ones.
I wish they'd schedule the rotation a little more evenly but also realize they are working with constraints of previously scheduled OOC games for some of these years. I'm sure that is why they are scheduling it so far out now- trying to get scheduled before ACC teams fully book their other OOC games.
Seem to remember now that you mention it. Either way a reminder ain't bad.
This was my next question. I was about to be all "you mean to tell me we play in South Bend in 2016 and they don't come to Lane for 20 years?!?!?1"
god damn, I'll be in my mid 50's by then!
"Dates and Times TBA" -- get your shit together ACC!
It will be noon.
On Raycom, where ACC games belong!
Sponsored by bojangles and food lion
I'm surprised to see anything announced any more than 4-8 years in advance.
How does this not have more legs?
We get games decades in advance against ND can't get 12 months for in conference games!
#goacc
Add in that we can't get a game time more than two weeks out.
Hell, we've got a game time for a game that is 2 DECADES out.
i might not be alive then.
I'll have 2 kids in their 30's by then...
Plenty of time to plan that tailgate, I guess
Since were scheduling future games, Irish we could get those damn Eastern Carolina [butt]pirates off our schedule...
The Capitals will still be trying to get out of the second round...
I hate the validity of your statement...
I'm just being realistic as a Caps fan.
In his wheelchair , Mendenhall would still be looking for his first win against VT.
Let's also not forget the ACC thinks the conference will remain as is for the next 20 years with this reveal. That would be the longest period of time in conference history that membership did not change.
1953 - ACC is formed with UNC, NCSU, Duke, WF, Maryland, Clemson, Virginia, and South Carolina
1971 - South Carolina leaves for the SEC
1978 - Georgia Tech joins from the Metro
1991 - Florida State joins
2004 - Virginia Tech and Miami join from Big East
2005 - Boston College joins from the Big East
2012 - Notre Dame joins for all sports except football from Big East
2013 - Syracuse and Pittsburgh join from the Big East
2014 - Maryland leaves for the Big Ten
2014 - Louisville joins from the Big East
2014 - Notre Dame ACC football scheduling begins
But yeah, let's announce a 30 year future schedules with Labor Day matchups. You know, because there's no chance that'll change.
ACC doing ACC things....yep, checks out
My son will have already graduated from VT and my daughter would be a junior. So I'll be good to go for the game.
NCAA should be wrapping up the UNC investigation by then...
There's always an optimist in every crowd.
I will be there via my virtual presence device.
Something to look forward to when I'm 60.
Yeah....i'll be .....um......69......
Meanwhile LOLUVA adds game AT Liberty in 2027. Also Liberty and New Mexico State will play home AND home game in the same season.
Thereby justifying their proposed $0 ticket price. /s
In all fairness and for the sake of humor, though, I have to include this quote from Trump's talk at the Liberty University commencement:
In a lighthearted moment, Trump listed some of the schools that Liberty's football team will face in 2018, when it joins the top tier of collegiate competition. Opponents will include such traditional powers as Auburn, Virginia Tech and Ole Miss.
"Jerry, are you sure you know what you're doing here?" Trump quipped.
