Going to be moving the family to Muncie, Indiana in June and wanted to know if there were any Hokies in the area that do anything for gamedays (Indianapolis included!). Wife got her doctorate and is now going to be working at Ball State (MACTION!).
Leaving Blacksburg for the first time in 19 years but will definitely be making pilgrimages to keep the Big1(2)0 from corrupting my children and teach them the true Hokie way.
Also any recommendations/advice about the area are welcome and appreciated.

My GF and I (both Hokies) have been living in Indianapolis for almost three years now. There are a small number of Hokies out here, but we typically don't get together on gamedays. I organized a few meet ups during the 2014 football season after we moved out here, but interest didn't really seem to be there. There is an Indy Hokies Facebook group where people correspond about VT related stuff, but it doesn't get much use.
While I'm not familiar with the Muncie area, Indianapolis has tons of things to do: Major and Minor league sports teams, breweries, museums, and the restaurant scene has drastically improved over the last few years.
Prepare yourself to talk a lot of basketball. Football discussions don't last long out here.
Also prepare yourself for arcane alcohol laws. You can purchase liquor, beer, and wine at most grocery/convenience stores, but not on Sundays, so plan accordingly. Stores also have to choose between selling cold beer and cold soda. Consequently, only liquor stores sell cold beer.
Anyways, that's just a start. Welcome to the neighborhood-ish.

Thanks for all the info. I'll be working remote for my company and will be traveling into Indy a few times a month as a deal I made with another company to work in theiroffice. I may try to drum up interest for something, maybe WVU if you aren't heading to Fedex for the game. Don't want to be the only one screaming obscenities at the TV.
Looking forward to what Indy has to offer. When I am in the area I'll hit you up again.

UPDATE: The local alumni group is starting to get more organized. We now have weekly game watching parties at TwoDEEP brewing in downtown Indianapolis, and we're talking about scheduling trips for our away basketball games at Louisville, at Kentucky, and at Notre Dame.

indy is pretty cool. journey up to chicago awesome city and super fun. buy heavy coats two things will be common for you cold brutal winters, and severe thunderstorms in may-june.
snowstorms - you wont get the foot of snow in a single night like the east coast, but youll get an inch every other day for months...think i covered all things weather. highly reccommend a cellar not as common as say texas/oklahoma but still get em fersure
