Well that should help fix the OOC RPI issue.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Am I wrong to think that a win in this game would be the biggest we've ever had regardless of where they're ranked at the time?

We are 1-2 against Kentucky in BB. So, we can already claim we've beaten them once so I think ranking would matter. It's not like ND this year when it was bragging rights over a powerhouse even in a down year because it had never happened before.

Ah yes, 1962 was a good year

well, you said ever, so I thought all of program history was in play. If you want to cap it at 50 years, then, yeah, beating Kentucky once in the last 50 years will be yuge!

I guess I was just expecting the disagreement to come in the form of wins we have against #1 teams, and not a single game that was played before a majority of our entire current fanbase was born

before a majority of our entire current fanbase was born

My dad wasn't even born yet when we beat Kentucky....

Beat #1 UNC at home in 2007 and then followed that up by beating them in Chapel Hill. Two games, but pretty huge

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

to add to this: We are still the only team to ever beat UNC and Duke in the same week.

Not sure this is correct. I want to say I remember the stat being that we were the second with NCSU having done it prior. And I think the caveat was that we were the second to beat both in the same week when both were ranked.

Don't rain on this parade!!! Facts don't matter anymore, its all about how the statement makes you feel!

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I mean, considering Duke and UNC have been good programs for a very long time, and that they used to play in a ACC that consisted of 7 or 8 teams until 1991, allowing plenty of opportunity for schools to get this chance, to only be the second team ever to have accomplished it in 2007 is one hell of a feat.

Think FSU did it in 2012 as well. Believe they actually did it twice in the same season.

I think simply because we play UNC and Duke 2-4 times every season, I downgrade the magnitude of those games because we always get another shot at them within the year

Must be what it's like to be in the SEC and play Alabama and LSU every year

I love it. One of those games that helps the OOC RPI win or lose, but a win would be huge

on a saturday? easy

Sounds like a weekend of bourbon and basketball to me.

If you play it, they will win.

MJ would have liked that game, I bet. Damn.

Fire Whit.

wow. this will be a challenge.

I'm excited to see our team go out and take them on, but for me, kentucky is one of those schools that just doesn't Impress. Yes their coach is a wonderful recruiter, and yes their entire team goes 1 round NBA, but in a vacuum, how impressive is that?

ill ride with BUZZ and our team full of heart

I remember a pretty big win against a #1 Memphis State team in the Castle. Memphis had 2 seven-footers in Keith Lee and William Bedford and a pretty stacked lineup overall. The atmosphere was absolutely astounding and the Hokies withstood a late push from the Tigers. Fans chipped in by covering the court with "Beat the Tigers" signs following an atrocious foul call.

That was amazing!!

I was there. That game was amazing!!!
