Would have preferred a high-caliber matchup, but I wouldn't expect this to exactly be a cake walk either. Looking forward to this game, hopefully it sets us up with good momentum for ACC play!

That's a good game to have in Cassell. Don't sleep on Iowa, as they're one of the more competitive Big Ten teams out there. They might not be the flashy name that Michigan State or Indiana might be, but they're absolutely no slouch. A win over them would be a very nice early season feather in our resume cap.
Depending on how ESPN sets these games, we could end up being a highlight matchup during the even this year.

Eh I'd rather have the quality win Iowa should be. They were playing good ball at the end of last year, I'd be surprised if they weren't RPI top 50.

Think its a sneaky good game and matchup. Iowa has been a solid program for awhile now and Tech despite their rise probably won't win this won by more than 10. Wisc. vs. UVA seems fishy to me since they played last year and are the same style of ball. Sounds like Wisc. didn't want to face Buzz ;)

The conference affiliations in the Syracuse vs. Maryland matchup will never not be weird to me.
Should make for an interesting few days in my household with my lovely Hawkeye bride. Sounds like I'm on the sofa for a few days whether we win or lose.
As a fan of the Hawkeyes and the Hokies, I hate it and I think it's the third time they would have played each other. I went to the last game they played each other at Cassell. Iowa was having a down year (last year with alford as coach, if I recall) and Tech was beating the tar out of them. Iowa started fouling Deron Washington late in the game, he was missing free throws as my younger brother was yelling brick while he was shooting, and Adam Haluska started draining some threes. That game ended up a lot closer than it should have been and the death stares at my brother were warranted and funny.
Though being born in Iowa, but having lived all but 3 years of my life in Virginia, my wife will attest that I get WAY more upset over Tech games than Hawkeyes games. If I make it to the game, I'll be rocking some gear for both teams.
Iowa had some talented freshman (Bohannon, Cook, and Pemsl) last year and they definitely got better as the year went on. This would definitely be a NCAA resume building win.
I'd be more interested to see how we fair against them on the gridiron. That's a more intriguing matchup from my standpoint. I already know we p*wn them in hoops.
I'm waiting for the day when we completely own them in wrastling, personally. I put Iowa in the same category as Nebraska when it comes to football. I know, on some level, that they were a good team, but I can't, for the life of me, remember the last time that was.
They very nearly won the B1G in 2015. Lost to Michigan State in the CG and went to the Rose Bowl, where Stanford handed them their ass.
