Nadir Thompson commits to the Hokies

Nadir Thompson, a 5'10 165 pound athlete from Bailey, NC, has verbally committed to the Hokies during an unofficial visit to Blacksburg.

Thompson, who is rated as a three star recruit by 247 Sports, projects to be a defensive back with the Hokies.

Quick thoughts: Really fast, looks much bigger than his posted weight. He can turn on an edge and get up field without losing much speed. He looks more like a Fuente slot-back (similar to the way Fuente used Sam Craft in his last season at Memphis) than a corner, but he is athletic enough to be a defensive back with good upside. Again, you can see how much Fuente prioritizes athleticism, speed, and versatility in his recruiting. While a Pimpleton looks deadling on punt returns, Thompson sure looks like he could be a dynamic kickoff return guy.

Great get. 3* corner in terms of technique, but has 4* athletiscism. Btw this is actually the third time since last summer that he's "committed" to the staff, but only the first time it's been public. So essentially he was committed to two schools at once for about 10 months.

We're likely done at CB now unless Gervin wants to jump on board (which I feel really good about considering he's likely visiting this weekend or next). Personally I would take someone like Ingle or Burton as well and then try Nadir in the slot but oh well.
