Cole Beck. Please.
Saw him play my senior year of high school, and he looked pretty decent. I don't know what happened in that offseason but he exploded last year on the way to a state championship. I think he would fit into Fuente's system really well. He runs a 10.58 in the 100 meter and a 21.49 in the 200. He is fast.
His recruiting has really kicked it up a notch recently, with offers from Pitt, UNC, lolUVA, and Mississippi State. Our coaching staff needs to realize what they have in their own backyard and offer him, and soon.
Edit: And to add on to the list of potential Hokies in Blacksburg, Tiquest Terry is a David Wilson type player. Give him an inch of space and he's going to find a way to get to the end zone. He's 2019 I think, so we've got some time, but there are two really good talents in Blacksburg.
edit: He just ran a 10.41 in the 100m final for states. Absurd.
I agree, his film is pretty fun to watch. It would be awesome to keep him local and have him succeed. Like you said, it seems like what I saw on his film would translate well to Fuente's offense. I'm just worried about having room for him. We have been the leader for Trent Pennix for a while, and another recruit that I think could be really underrated is Mateo Durant. He has some crazy 10 ypc average but only played half a season last year. I think he could also be a great pick-up.
Beck ran for over a 1,000 yards last season in just the playoffs!!!
and 11 touchdowns in the first 2 games of the playoffs!
He's a regular Al Bundy!
Al scored 4 in the championship game. How did this guy do int he championship game?
Scored the game winning touchdown, I believe
That is pretty absurd, he just broke Lashawn Merritt with that 10.41 (Olympic Gold Medalist in 400m and ran a sub-20 second 200m) state meet record as a Junior. Kid has jets, hopefully we will extend an offer to him soon.
It's crazy that Usain Bolts time is still over a second faster. Puts it in perspective how fast that man is
I love that you assume Usain Bolt is human.
Just saw that Cole Beck was at the camp at VT yesterday. Good to know he is at least on the coaches radar.
Definitely on the coaches' radar, they probably know more about him than any other coaching staff. Doubt he gets an offer though. Didn't impress much at camp aside from his 40 time.
It is interesting that you don't think he will get an offer. According to 247 he already has 26 offers, including ECU, UNC, LOLUVa, PITT, BC, Louisville, Miss State, to name a few.
If we don't offer him then I hope we are right in our read. Hate to be wrong in a case like this.
Only way he gets an offer is if we miss out on our top 3 or 4 remaining targets, and even then I'm not convinced he'll get one.
He's obviously extremely fast but he just isn't a good athlete in other aspects. His hands and ball skills need significant improvement to be a WR or safety, and he doesn't have the hips or balance to play corner or RB. Think Demitri Knowles.
It sucks because he's a great kid and he's right in our backyard, but I just don't see a scenario where it happens without us striking out on all of our current RB targets. And considering we have one on campus as we speak who is nearing a decision, I don't think that will happen.
KJ2VT is a fast trending twitter buzz right now. He is friends with Tre but, i still think we remain a darkhorse and I don't think we pull through

Oh I'm awake! Got woken by so much excitement! #nc2vt
Leg for Ash!
reads thread title... oh hey it's June
So anyone know where we stand with KJ Henry. I really don't follow recruits until info about them pops up on this site. So first I heard about him is the Tre Turner thread.
However if we were able to sign a 5* in back to back years that would be pretty big for us. Really only a handful of schools do that continually.
Not anything recent, but my youngest went to a Wake Forest football camp in middle school with him, where his dad was one of the coaches. The Wake coaches were recruiting him then, but he told the other kids he was not going to Wake, "I'm going to a big time football school like Alabama." Things could have changed, or he could now perceive VT as a big time football school, but that is where is head was then, with heavy support from his dad. His dad had him transfer to a small private school after middle school and regrade back into the 8th grade to get him academically prepared for high school so he could play college ball. He wrecked my son's middle school team single handedly, breaking the leg of our tailback, and throwing my son down so hard he had a mild concussion after running him down from the far side of the field on a sweep when we started running away from him. Very nice kid, but a beast on the field. I hope we get him, but would be a little surprised from what little I know.
Anyone know the latest on Hollifield? I see hes a 50/50 split with us and sc with the momentum in their favor. After that video of him burning that clemson stuff during the acc championship he became my number 1 hopeful.
Don't know but I hope we close on him. Turner, Hollifield, and Crossen would be a nice haul.
Love the pickups we've gotten at the skill positions. Any reason to be optimistic for a pleasant surprise at DL/LB/OL in the near future?
Seems like we're way ahead of schedule on the offensive side, but I've love to see some commitments from some defensive linemen and linebackers soon.
We just signed 4/5 LBs (depending on the position Proctor ends up playing) in the incoming class, so we probably only take 1-2 there. I would expect us to take 3-4 OL and 3-4 DL.
Yep. Def on board with this. I'd love to see Proctor as an edge rusher - or maybe backer?
Dax still in play - I bet we're keeping a seat warm for him. Feels like we've never really been in the mix for Wilson. I like Tisdale's tape a lot, but he's not a Mike.
Guy to watch this fall is Tavante Beckett. I'll be a lot less worried about LB moving forward if he keeps improving. Seems to be catching the coaches' eyes. We'll likely be replacing both starters after the season - I like knowing that Rivers, Beckett, and Proctor are the next wave.
When the rumor started going around about Turner having committed to us, there was a lot of CB movement for Alan Tisdale, 4* LB out of NC. We are the leaders to land him but I haven't heard of a commitment date for him.
he may be more of a rover for us than anything. if he was a lb it would probably be a whip IMO.
In 1995 Bud Foster D, he is a rover or an undersized whip. Today, he is probably a backer, although if they could get him in space like Bud did with Mook against the Razorbacks, oh chi mama.
Identifying the next mike is so critical. I still think Rivers is going to be groomed as the "next guy" at backer. Right now Griffin is his competition for 2018 if Edmunds leaves early. Mike has Beckett who looked good in the spring, with Ashby and Kearny as unknowns. I think Tisdale would slot into the backer depth chart. Hollifield and Artis both look like mike's to me, so prospective 2018 starters will need to take advantage of very limited reps with all those bodies at the position in order to wow Bud.
I want Dax Hollifield. The idea of Hollifield and Rivers as our two main LBs is awesome.
That would be the second coming of the 9/11 Adibi/Hall defense. Those guys were downright nasty to anyone who tried to have the ball in the middle of the field. Combine that with the playmakers we're getting in the secondary, and our defense could be brutal to play against in a couple years.
What's better is that it looks like we're going to be combining it with an offense dripping with talent at receiver and QB.
Did we sign a TE recently?
** our defense will continue to be brutal in a couple years **

Hokies make Cam Goode's top eight.
goode news
Goode one.
This is a Goode thread.
I gotta say, today was a Goode day.
Hey, we had a Goode thing going there...
The schools that he is considering are.......interesting?
I like our chances if those really are his top 8.
You should. He loves VT. Honestly not sure what he's waiting for. I figured he was waiting it out for more offers, but now he's seemed to concede that they probably aren't coming anymore. Hope this means he's going to shut it down soon.
inb4 he chooses Rich Rod & Arizona and Fireman blows his top
maybe we can get him and Rod as a package deal?..... waiting....waiting
Are you saying you want he who shall not be named here? Because I don't care if he goes somewhere else or if some poor child wants to play there only if someone thinks he should be in Blacksburg.
Oh, you mean Rich Rod?

Teradja Mitchell commits to anOSU
Saw that on Twitter (I follow Eleven Warriors). Did he ever consider Tech? I do not stay in the loop on recruiting. On the flip side, I am thrilled it isn't loluva or UT(enn).
We were in his Top (insert big number here) a while back. As of about a month ago he had narrowed it down to FSU and OSU though. Honestly I don't think he was ever really considering us.
I don't we've ever really been in the convo, but Dax seems to be our biggest target
I know the staff liked him, but knew very early on he was not going to show much interest so they decided to focus on others like Tisdale, Artis, Dax, and Payton Wilson (now committed to UNCheat.)
Patterson 6th best QB on Day one at Elite 11 per 247.
If you ain't 6th, you're last. Did I do that right?
But that doesn't make any sense at all. If you ain't 6th you're last....? You can be 2nd, you can be 3rd, 4th. Hell, you can even be 5th.
Man that's awesome. According to the Composite he's ranked 21 out of 25 of all the guys out there right now. If he keeps this up he could see a rankings boost and have a good chance at seeing a 4th star here soon.
That's actually huge. Peep this list http://247sports.com/Event/Elite-11-Finals-2017-41. Quincy is waaaaay over performing or he's way under rated. Dude is gonna be a stud.
If he keeps it up and gets Elite 11 status finishing well above the cut line he'll be well positioned to earn a 5th *
I know it's not recruiting news but T-Mobile tweeted out this nice throwback yesterday.
I will not get invested in a teenagers decision, I will not get invested in a teenagers decision, I will not get invested... ah fuck.
Wait wait wait.... he's VERIFIED on Twitter already?!
Since Patterson committed hearing him talk, seeing his stature, and his potential he may be the best recruit out of this class and one hell of a QB
I was surprised by his size. I thought he was a bean pole until I saw his weight at like 230 or something
So going into day 3 (today) at the Elite 11 this was the current top ranking...
Everything I have heard from Quincy has been very positive so he has to be close to that group. Unfortunately I read somewhere that the rankings do take into consideration high school film and their current rating. As a result it looks like Quincy will have a much harder time making the cut than most of the other guys. If the evaluations were more objective to their performance this weekend I think you would see his name there.
Update: They did 7v7s today and Quincy was 16 for 23 with 3 TD's (per the 247 live updates). Unfortunately a lot of kids are putting up comparable numbers so it might not be enough to put him over the edge.
All in all even if he doesn't make the top 11 he looks like he's definitely placing himself in the conversation as one of the better QBs in this class.
Yeah, if they just based it on camp performance Quincy would easily make it. But seems he's due for a nice bump regardless of whether he makes it or not.
http://www.scout.com/college/football/recruiting/story/1781596-elite-11-...
Scout had him their top 12, so he's definitely making an impression.
247 has him as their #8 guy for day 3.
Unfortunately though while 247, Scout, and others are doing more objective evaluations the actual Elite 11 group is taking into consideration their rating going into the weekend among other factors.
It's especially ironic that the people who actually do the rankings are not considering rankings...
Andy Bitter did a breakdown of where VT is scholarship-wise last week:
http://www.roanoke.com/sports/virginia_tech/tallying-up-virginia-tech-s-...
I'm not getting worked up about the overall numbers because a) they always work out, b) kids will wash out before school starts because that always happens, c) the numbers always work out. What's interesting is they already have 9 commits and don't have a huge number of seniors leaving. There's probably going to be some kids whose offers dry up.
Our boy Quincy is officially apart of the final Elite 11 group! With Hendon and now Patterson, I think we are set up nicely for some playoff runs in the near future!
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2713732-welcome-to-the-elite-11-meet-the-qbs-headed-to-the-opening
THAT'S AWESOME!! If there are any other QBs in this class, I'd recommend they decommit, reclassify as athletes and then recommit.
This is a big deal. He's in line for a massive bump in the rankings.
That's freakin awesome! This kid's stock is going to skyrocket after this past weekend. The secret is out. I'd expect a 4th star to be added to his ranking almost immediately and he's well positioned to get a 5th if he keeps it up.
The thought of a Fuente offense being led by an Elite 11 dual threat QB.
hahahahahahahaha, the Coastal is so fucked
4th almost assuredly, 5th 0 chance.
Sweet, this means he's almost guaranteed to get the 5th
Will that happen before or after he decommits for FSU?
I shouldn't have laughed, but I did. Leg for the panful laugh.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him pass trevor Lawrence and be the #1 recruit nationally in addition to being the first VT 6 star.
But but I just want him to be OUR little secret, to be unleashed on the unsuspecting ACC.
Hell to the yes. Here is the updated roster on the Elite 11 website.
Updated Elite 11 roster
Nice to see VIRGINIA TECH in all caps under his name.
Man I'm pumped! I was following this closely and as I have said several times, Quincy had a tougher road to make the cut than many of the other kids. We're getting a special one in this guy!
And if they were ranked by how they were listed, Quincy was solidly in there at #8. Now just gotta go grab some more solid lineman to keep him and the other QB's upright!
4 Pac 12, 3 ACC, ! SEC, ! BIG 10 , 3 Uncommitted.
Elite 12
Top Twelve?
Who are we to be picky, though? We have a 14 team conference named "The Big Ten" and a 10 team conference named "The Big 12"
It's worth noting too that Quincy beat out former VT target and 4* QB out of SC Dakereon Joyner.
All in all this is just another testament to Fuente's ability to evaluate talent, especially at QB.
A great honor for Quincy. Our coaches seem to have an eye for QB talent.
Seriously. We're looking to have an embarrassment of riches at QB for the long term future. Such a complete difference from where we've been in the past. We'll be well positioned to start churning through guys who can leave early for the draft without missing a beat.
Quincy's "Play"
Looks like Tyrod's tweet about the Elite 11 camp had the desired effect
Remember how I said the 17 class was good but this '18 class could be great.... I have a feeling I may have underestimated my prediction.
Dax Hollifield, DJ Crossen, Daniel George, Alim McNeill, Alan Tisdale, James Mitchell, Anthony Grant, and Keshon Artis all work for me.
Some stud OL too.
Just take every leg available on TKP
in all honesty, didn't think some of these guys would commit so quickly and now they are hitting the road hard recruiting... with a QB in the elite this definitely is shaping up nicely. Making it easier for the coachs' to bring all this good info to other recruits
Just please, dear Lord, give us some linemen!!!! We are setting up very nicely for every other position, just need some big boys to do the dirty work.
Anyone have an insight as to how much Thad Matta retiring at Ohio State affects Dwayne Cohill's decision process?
Depends who they hire. Imagine it helps us though
I wanted to get excited about this, but then I noticed "It's a movement." This guy's totally going with BM... /s

2/10
5/10 with rice.
Meh, I could have added the district, but I don't think VA wants to actually claim ownership there. We'll just siphon off the good talent.
I appreciate the with rice reference. Probably the best reddit thread I have ever read.
Go read some of the other top alltime askreddit threads. So many better ones trust me. You can lose hours doing that lol.
Believe me I have done that. I just happened to be watching the rice thread unfold live. But there are some really dark threads along with the hilarious ones.
I'm good with that though.
Well that's certainly a Goode sign
5 star QB just decommited from Penn State... hmm wonder what effect that's gonna have.
QP definitely going to get targeted. Not sure it'll matter though. Time will tell.
That's the one Florida is after right?
Yep and a lot of other schools. Florida thinks they are in the drivers seat but FSU is pretty good at sweeping in under the radar
Too fucking soon BAG.

Heck, I'll give him a leg just for using Looney Tunes.

I know QP2 was mentioned as a Penn State target by a few but he just retweeted this.
This dude reminds me of Tyrod a lot. May be because he even sorta looks like him. Not sure.
Loyalty. This guy Quincy, he gets it.
And now I need to go home and give my dog a big hug
That show is so great. This episode is so heartbreaking.
I hadn't seen that episode until it came up somewhere else. Had to go find it and watch it. Too many feels.
No no no no no no no
Slade should become the 3rd 5* to decommit from PSU and join the #movement.
There was a reddit thread that said Penn State's decommits are currently ranked higher than Bama's recruiting class.
http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/6/6/15751206/justin-fields...
for those interested, it actually is true, better than UGA too
My son goes to Harrison with Justin. Every time they ran into each other last year, my boy would tell him to switch his commitment to VT. That's probably what's happening now. :)
Mike Vick tweets at croots.
I approve
The tweet chart about contacting recruits doesn't apply to VT legends
if you have played in the NFL, you can tweet at recruits all you want until you say something stupid. So, Tyrod, Kam, MV7, etc: have at it.
"Define stupid." - Marcus Vick
"Hold my beer." - also Marcus Vick
"You guys are so mean to Marcus. Leave Marcus alone!" -hokieknight(whatever else came behind his name)
Didn't play in NFL
+1 I stand corrected, sir
Define "Play"
Truth be told, he actually did suit up and get game action in 1 regular season game with the Dolphins at WR before he was cut the following week
What is a waste of talent.

It's this thing where a person has talent, and then they waste it.

VT legends retweets.

I'd imagine that the Stoops retirement improves our chances with Kalon Gervin?
I just saw over on 247 that TE Kyle Pitts is on Quincy Patterson's 7v7 team for the Opening Finals. Here's to hoping they form a connection that continues into Orange and Maroon.
It's crazy the kind of offensive weapons that could be coming in this class:
Tre Turner
Darryle Simmons
DeJuan Ellis
Bryce Thompson
then possibly:
Daniel George or Dillon Spalding (i know, someone will say that we won't keep a spot open for Spalding, but if we don't land George I hope you're wrong, I would honestly be just as happy with either of them)
Kyle Pitts
James Mitchell
...there are even more options, but the ones above are my favorites.
That would be absurd. Add to it any 1 or 2 of the 9 RBs that seem to be interested in us and, fingers crossed, a few decent OL, the Fuente offense is looking promising...
I honestly love Spalding more than any other WR we have on our board / have committed (sorry Tre - you still my boy though).
Spalding is ours.
He hasn't committed yet
Is that a #saucy comment, or more of a dry-rub, hopeful comment?
Dry rub always gets a leg. #purist
It's a marinade!
(but hopefully a #VinegarSauce comment as that's the supreme sauce)
If you must have a sauce, I also prefer the thin, vinegar-based
North CarolinaSouth Virginia-style.ohshit.jpg
Interesting. I went back and read the TKP article about him from a couple months back. He said that he was hoping to make his decision by late June/early July.
We could get another NC2VT summer treat...the kid is fast and seems to have a great head on his shoulders.
I think NC ST is elite at evaluating talent. They just can't hold on to them. Watch their QB flip to Penn St after the opening.
Nadir and Graves would round out the DB class nicely
July will be the new Hokie Christmas

According to this short article on 247 OT Jordan McFadden will visit VT tomorrow for an "elite recruits weekend".
Anyone know of any other visitors this weekend?
Guerry just retweeted this by a 3* LB/DE, the kid currently has is vt offer announcement pinned to the top of his twitter page, another commit? (sorry can't embed, on mobile)
[ mod edit: embed ]
This would be amazing! Outside of KJ Henry this kid is my favorite DE recruit. He plays mean and has a motor that won't quit. Wow, I hope this happens.
But we aren't winning our state.
Sorry was wondering where all those peeps were.
But we are letting 2 5* go out of state, and the top OL is leaving as well.
No interest from the beginning with some of those guys. Hard seeing us wasting time and resources on guys who let the coaches know early they aren't sticking around. The big push with in state is next year. You should already see the steps being taken with the 2019 and 2020 classes
THIS! I get so pissed seeing all this VA talent leave the state year after year just to ride the bench at a POWER house program until JR/SR year.
Outside of Mitchell and Slade, the Virginia talent this cycle is probably the worst in a lonnnng time.
2019 and 2020 look to be pretty loaded though, as BAG pointed out.
But but every top recruit should want to go in state. I mean except the out of state recruits WE want
I agree but Slade thought he was too big for VT and Mitchell was never going to give us a serious (regardless of the Tahj situation.)
The VT staff decided to push harder for guys like Dax, Tisdale, and Keshon Artis instead of wasting their time on a guy like Mitchell who was clearly never really that interested. They would still try to flip Slade but that's just very likely not happening.
Hypothetically, if we made the playoffs this year do you think Slade and Teradja would still have this feeling of being "bigger" than VT?
Let's see how many more decommits PSU gets.
edit: I guess I should embed the original tweet, huh
I thought Tisdale was a 4*? Did he drop or is my memory just that crappy?
Scout dropped him to a 3 star.
Trent Pennix committed to NC State tonight.
Wow, that's surprising, especially with them already having Ricky Person committed. We have some solid other prospects we can focus on though, let's go get Walker, Grant, Durant, or even Cole Beck.
I think we're only going to take 1 RB this year. Slade obviously if he flipped, Durant is next option. Pennix is kind of a WR-RB given his body type and skill set
Word is we just didn't have a spot for him.
Did I do that right?
So much for CB's.
I'm not just salty, I don't mind losing a recruit to NC State that much and I wish him success, but he didn't strike me as an elite runner
I wasn't too excited after film review as well
NC State is like the practice girl, you commit there so you can get some practice and experience then when you are read you commit to the school of your dreams
Early in the year I read that the O-Line is going to be a big recruiting target. So far it doesn't seem that we have had much success in that area. Is this going to be a problem or am I just out of the loop?
Look across the college football landscape and find all but a handful of teams that don't struggle to get top tier OL kids. You have to do so much future projection on them at that age that the truly great ones have offers from everybody and their brother.
Things are about to change here. Possibly even today.
#Sauces?
Man you talk like you're swimming in those #sauces, and I really hope you are.
A couple of our targets are close to decisions, including one we have on campus as we speak. These guys are ready, we just need to close.
Jordan McFadden?
Eh still think Duke mate lead here but haven't asked about him recently.
The guy I was talking about is from a neighboring state to Jmac though....
I've been wondering if Rafferty is close to deciding. I think he would be another big OL commit.
On another note, I am trying to keep a list of people who seem to have legitimate #sauces...BAG, jreynolds, and apparently LAhokie. I'm sure there are others, but when you speak, I will listen.
Wouldn't expect anything from Rafferty. Not sure he has a spot anymore. Probably a good thing too if you've seen that video of the Opening Regionals in DC from a couple months ago.....
Bad performance?
Got repeatedly smoked. Cam Goode was a beast though.
So your saying he was damn Goode.

Spoke to soon! keep them coming!
According to SB nation Minnesota has the 19th ranked class in the nation. If that is true, the Big Ten is Flecked.

I'm really liking Quincy Patterson. What a great Hokie he'll become. Looking forward to a potential Patterson partnership between Quincy and Phil.

Eli Adams commits to good guys!!
Reminds me a lot of Brad Johnson from last year, and damn did I love Brad Johnson last year.
Johnson had better hands to take on blockers. This kid has better redirect and is more explosive, and that is saying something.
RiRi approves of today so hard.
Ohhhh boy.
Guerry must getting tired so they had to fire up the Wiggnal.

Some of the strongest work I've ever seen put in by a croot. "World: 20-18"? "Time: 365"?? "Lane Stadium" on the castle??? IN THE RIGHT FONT????

About time!! Saw the big man in Crystal city with a VT Football shirt on
After Cam Goode i'm hearing there is another one too? 4 from the weekend?
Sure. Why not?

So is this who the Wiggins Signal was for?
He hasn't tweeted anything about it yet so maybe not. Are there any 4* dudes that it could be?
Who's the lead recruiter for Tisdale?
Wow, what a weekend! Cannot wait to see EXITLIGHT18! make their mark in Lane! WELCOME HOME John, Eli, and Cam! This Fuente and Co. thing is pretty darn special. The sky is the limit- GO HOKIES!
Hey BAG how many more spots do we have left? I would imagine around 22
I know you will hate this but the numbers will work out before its all said and done. Having WR and DBU filling up means VT can be picky there now and we still have a lot of great players in the works. This year is going to be fun. VT is trending very well! Also just my opinion but I'm thinking making the point that Tech isn't going to wait on State talent anymore is really going to make an impact on future state recruits on a positive note. We are moving away as always being the backup plan with top in state guys and they have to earn a spot at the table.
"Making the point that Tech isn't going to wait on State talent anymore is really going to make an impact on future state recruits on a positive note. We are moving away as always being the backup plan with top in state guys and they have to earn a spot at the table."
This. All. Fuckin'. Day.
I had a similar question but specifically about D-line. I am sure there would be a spot open for KJ Henry, no matter what, but for DT do we still pursue guys like Alim McNeil and Rick Sandidge? I'm a big fan of McNeil, hope we still go after him. I'm assuming since a recent offer just went out for DT we are still open to taking more?
I'm not the best to answer that. I do know that it is June and no reason to even think about restricting who we take. There are guys that have spots open no matter what but as fun as this weekend was, we still have till February and plenty of spots still needing to be filled.
McNeil and Henry have a spot no matter what. Sandidge is unlikely.
This x1000
I'm tired of the fanbase and staff being all over in state talent when we've been at most a backup plan and window dressing on a twitter top 15. Kids in state that wanna rep the Hokies can earn it
Edit: Im not worried about numbers I've just heard rumors the staff is pushing kids to hop on board before the train leaves
Kalon Gervin just released his top 5:
MSU or VT unless OSU throws their hat into the ring. Like how we sit right now and he's planning on being on campus next weekend I believe.
Somebody queue of the Hokie Pokie!
You put your right leg in...
Also, saw this tweet from Noah Boykin from earlier today:
Not only is he a highly rated CB from DC (rated just above Crossen on 247 Composite) but he is also teammates of Mychale Salahuddin, a 4* RB. Just thought this was interesting timing with our coaches hosting a camp in DC tomorrow...
Don't think there's much traction here. 0 shot at Mychale, didn't make his top 11
This makes me Sadahuddin
13 commits already. It looks like Fuente's plan is "I'm going to finish recruiting before the season starts so I can focus on coaching".
Bryce Thompson de-commits. He committed to the Hokies last July.
Assuming he's looking to play WR then he would have been looking at some stiff competition.
Have you seen him play? He is a beast
Oh I'm not saying that he couldn't handle it, I'm just saying we're recruiting WR better than any other position right now.
Not unexpected at all. Kid needs to get his grades in order before he makes a final decision. Would help a bit if he stopped burning bridges with the people trying to help him....
100% this...
According to some insiders, kid is taking visits with schools that are flirting while VT is trying to keep his grades up. Hope he plays somewhere....
I just texted my USCe buddy about Thompson and he said basically the same thing.
He also said he's more likely to end up at Marshall than USCe at this point. That surprised me. Wishing the best for Bryce though, and would love if he ends up a Hokie when it's all said and done.
Never like to see someone de-commit, but if there is one position that hurts the least it's WR. With that said, I hope he comes back to the good guys and makes an impact...
and if not, maybe we have room now for both Daniel George and Dillon Spalding...how's that for lemonade?? or is it Kool-aid? whatever I'm drinking, it's tasty.
I'm sorry, I just never thought I would ever see that said about Virginia Tech
Looks like he also left his high school this past year, will be high school number 3 when he enrolls somewhere.
Not quite Holland Fisher levels of red flags, but getting there.
All these recruits commiting before big events or special occasions...... it's almost like it's planned out in advance hmmm
[Mod Edit: The meme.am domain the image is hosted on is unresponsive and slows down the load of the entire page. I had to remove it. In the future, would everyone do TKP a solid and upload/host these images on imgur.com. It's much faster.]
There's a plan...
via GIPHY
We may soon have a decision from 3* ATH Nadir Thompson.
If it's not Thursday, that will be the Nadir of the week.
Is that Druck Uncle, or Uncle Funk? Love them both.... make the reunion memorable.
I see you, Kville.

I like this kid, not rated as a blue chip but from the TKP article about him a little while back he seems like an OKG. Also, according to that article we were recruiting him as a DB, which he preferred. I wonder with Thompson decommitting if he would consider a slot WR spot. We seem to have a lot more possibilities at DB than at the slot.
Top 10 for Tanner Ingle.
#TeamIngleBerry
Does UNCheat always wait for us to do the eval/offer before they do?
Top Right? He is saying we are the "top" choice and the "right" choice. He practically just committed.
I'd like to see a study done on recruit Top X schools twitter pictures to evaluate school logo placement vs commitment choice. I hypothesize you could develop a model to predict commitment choices within a certain confidence
I don't think these guys are even the ones making the pictures though. Maybe we could see something like hat placement during their commitment lol
Shit, he wears Adidas cleats. He's headed to NC State or Tennessee
UT is a Nike school now
Cole Beck has been ranked as the 3rd best running back in the state and 27th best in the country. He's literally in town for Virginia Tech. Staff needs to figure this out and offer him.
Edit: He made the finals for the 100m at nationals. You can watch him race around 2:40 at this link here
Looks to be in lane 7
At best, the fourth best RB on their board, and probably only taking one (max two this year if one of the three commit before Grant)..
Apparently didn't catch well over the weekend, and only skill was his speed. May not be in the cards for VT/Beck.
Skutt, you're from Blacksburg, I genuinely have no feel for the high school scene in the area football wise. Does BBHS play anyone? I watched Beck's film and can't decide if he is legit or if it is a case of a decent size fish swimming in a very tiny pond. He's faster than everyone, the Bruins included. He showed some elusiveness but it was mostly dancing. Whenever there was solid contact, he went down, and doesn't seem to be much of a power play. I mean, 80% of his touchdowns are him just turning on his jets and running through a massive hole the o-line opened for him. You aren't going to see that in the ACC.
I can't speak much for who they played during the regular season last year, but they went on the road during the playoffs and beat some good teams. Lord Botetourt, Brookville, Phoebus, Stauton River, etc., with him putting up 1600 yards and almost 20 touchdowns. All on the road.
I agree that he seems to be just turning on the jets but I think the development is there. He can get better, as he proved from his sophomore to his junior year. He's only going to get stronger and that will help with shedding tackles.
Even if he stays as just a speed guy, I don't see why we won't offer him as a slot receiver type role. Get him the ball on a quick slant route between the backers and the safeties and he will find the open field and score.
What if he doesn't have the hands to consistently catch that quick slant? Do we offer a guy just to do kickoff returns and jet sweeps?
Sounds like a candidate for a preferred walk-on. I doubt they offer a scholarship if they're questionable on his skills. Speed is awesome, but if he's going to be a slot guy, H-back, etc. he's got to have good hands.
VT is going to have a pretty good receiver corps.
I'm definitely trusting Fuente and company on these evaluations.
Devin Hester?
I appreciate it. I'm still out on this guy. Gonna trust Fuente & Co. on the decision.
He had the chance to prove himself as a slot receiver this past weekend. He just didn't do it.
Struggled to catch and just didn't look natural as a slot guy.
Oh they know who he is. They scouted him more than anyone at the camp over the weekend.
Not going to go into full details, but an offer is not coming at this point in time. He was really fast as expected, but struggled in a lot of other areas that the staff wanted to see that he could do. Unless all our RB targets commit elsewhere, I have a tough time seeing him get an offer.
I really don't lean any way about whether to offer him or not. I trust the staff's judgement, but I will say Fuente isn't just gonna offer him because he is a local kid. And he shouldn't.
Just wait till he goes to some small G5 school kills it there gets drafted and does well in NFL and all anyone will say is "should have offered the kid, look what he did".
that's a steph curry joke
Or goes to Louisville, Pitt, Wake, Mississippi State, or even UVA, kills it and gets drafted.
Imagine how much Pitt fans would rub it in our face if we lost a local guy to Nardouche and he ended up being key to their success. Ugh.
edit: Forgot about UNC and Clemson.
He's blazing fast. I'd compare him to JC Coleman. His speed will get him a ton of offers but once he gets to college, he's a tweener. He's got those "dude" qualities but he's not quite a "dude", you know? If I'm Beck, I'd be trying to go pro in Track & Field. You get that 100M time around 10.00 and Nike will pay you Millions out of high school. I understand why VT hasn't offered and wouldn't be shocked if they don't. His teammate Terry in C/O 2019 will be interesting. He has the agility and hands that Beck lacks but not quite as fast or big. I'd say Terry has better chance of receiving offer from VT but with Pimpleton, Savoy in '17 and Ellis already in '18, not sure they'll be after more than 1 smallish slot guy next year. I'll be following both young men, wish them the best.
Reminder to watch
Has there been any discussion about the young man expressing that he may not want to stay and play so close to home (even if he was offered)? Maybe the coaches are aware of this and that is factoring into their decision as well.
I have been impressed with our OOS recruitment, and I do hope the staff also puts a high degree of emphasis on recruiting in best in state kids early and hard. We've fallen off in recent years with this and need to get back to it.
I realize a few people here are in the know as far as our recruiting goes, I'm curious about the kid from Graham, Cooke? I know he has camped at VT and from what I understand he wants to go there. Any info on his recruitment?
Nadir Thompson on campus today? Could see a commit?
Signs in the twitterverse point to yes
Looks like a commitment.
You're right! This is his commitment to the good guys!
Gotta say...I hope we wear that uni again. Doesn't have to be often (no more than once a year), but it is sweet
1 more I hear....
Guessing Tisdale?
That would be nice. My guess is Steward.
No mas?
We may need to make a June Recruiting Part 2 thread. We're up to 350 posts, and it's taking a while to load.
Soooo Evan Watkins CB'd Steward and Gervin to us this evening... Just saying.
Keep an eye on this guy (OL btw)
Austin Smith 3*
247 says DT. Would we move him to OL?
Yes we would
Damn, that kid looks like a dude!
It's kind of a strange feeling waking up on a Saturday, checking TKP, and having the last commit be two days ago. I like this.
It's kind of a strange feeling waking up on a Saturday, checking TKP, and having the last commit be two days ago. I like this.
Why haven't we had a new commit in two days?!?!?! This staff can't recruit!

Seems #NC2VT is really starting to take a toll on Fedora.
What a loser! SAD!!!!!
Honestly those videos are kind of funny. They've put out a few this year. As a former comm major, props to their social media team.
Meanwhile our social media team is holding onto a joke about "left leg red" for the next time a tornado hits
They've got a Throwback Thursday tweet saved in their drafts about the UNC game in the hurricane next time one makes landfall and kills a dozen people.
I know its NC but making fun of yourself always hits home with me . Like it. Just beat their ass again in 2017.
Interesting that while Miami is up on the recruiting trail Alabama is down, I guess they got a lot of players from South Florida and now it's not as easy for them. I know Ohio State relies on that area a lot as well too. I hope after another season or 2 that we can similarly lock down Tidewater Virginia and bring in most of the talent but I love how we have gotten broader in our recruiting efforts. Hopefully Virginia kids will realize how blessed they are to get a scholarship to Va Tech because they won't be coming as easily in the near future.
Alabama may be down right now, but by February they will have their usual insane class.
Yeah, people aren't selling their Alabama shirts just yet.
Cole Beck finishes 2nd for the 100m in the nation with a time of 10.41
Sounds like a prime candidate to get a scholarship from our track team and be a preferred walk on for football
Pretty sure NCAA has rules against this. If you're on an athletic scholarship at an institution and you play football, that scholarship counts against football. I believe SEC schools were loading up there track teams with football players for this exact reason and thats where the rule originated. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
You are correct.
Wasn't aware of that rule. Makes sense though. He should definitely look into staying with track though with that kind of speed as a junior. There is a lot of money in professional track and fewer concussions.
Miami did this a lot in the mid to late 90s
Wasnt the biggest offender Nebraska? Or they had some type of loophole they were exploiting
I thought Bear Bryant was the guy who abused that rule.
Nebraska took advantage of the unlimited roster sizes and other schools not being able to scout the midwest and rural nebraska. Loaded the team with 100s of farm boy walk-ons and picked a few diamonds out of the bunch.
Maybe that's why "The Rock" was apart of their team. I'm sure that's a shotput in his fanny pack
Nah, he's just happy to see you.
Leg and awesome
I think the reason he is despised is he didn't misinterpret the rule, he found a damn loophole so it was legal.
I think it is damn funny that after year the Patriots exploit a loophole, the NFL changes the rules.
Checks 24/7: "Why is a two star running back trending to VT?"
Looks at Caleb Steward's offer sheet: "Why is this kid only a two star?"
Other sites have not ranked him yet
His offer sheet isn't that impressive
Agreed. Biggest offers at the moment outside of VT are Duke and UCF...
Might have a lot of offers, but majority of them are not impressive at all...
Anybody talking about ronnie walker a 4 star rb out of va? I hate that he has a cb to uva but we are listed as "warm". That would be fun huh? Been a while since we had a 4 star running back huh? HUH?!
Not since 2014, shai mckenzie, actually.
The one CB is a dude who has gone 2/3 on 2000+ picks. I think he just throws shit at the wall to see what sticks.
Strong rhyme game sir. Sounds great to me! And it is only one little crystal ball...

wait....
via GIPHY
Yep they crowd funded the movie.
Leg for making me audibly LOL on a crappy Monday
I hope your Tuesday is fantastic.
Watch his tape. Not a 4* RB.
Confirm.
UVA has been recruiting him pretty hard since his freshman season and tech kind of came on late. But from what I have heard Duke is going to be the bigger competition. He is a smart kid and a lot different from the last Hopewell commit VT got. If Notre Dame was to offer though he would go there without a doubt.
I don't want to overreact too much, but KJ Henry retweeted a #KJ2VT tweet shortly after saying he'd be releasing a top 5 soon.
I would say we are top 3 or 2 but, Alabama has the lead
Oh no...I can't HANDle losing out to Bama again.
via GIPHY
Aw hell yes
Iowa State bound uh?
Guerry retweeted this, would love to see the hype train gain another passenger
Lol I've seen this image template used twice now and it has me wondering if there's one for every race and body type
Jolls my man, take out the v from gifv for your embeds. Makes them much happier.
I trust you considering you're the gif Lord
Am I still not allowed to tweet at a recruit even if he asks me a question directly? Seems rude not to answer. /s
Gervin also tweeted this a few days ago...VT ranked #5
Also, question.....how do you embed a tweet on here?
I know if you are on laptop/desktop version of twitter there is a down arrow to click and one of the options is "embed tweet" click that and it will give you a link to paste in your comment box, I don't know how to do it on mobile
Looks like keeping that #DBU tradition alive
So I know this won't happen since we are VT and we don't get big time OL recruits, but I just noticed we made the top 5 for high 4* 2019 OT Doug Nester, a composite score of .9811. Then there is also high 4* 2019 OT Quinn Carroll (composite score .9607) who's older brother was a long snapper for VT.
WHAT IF we landed those guys next
yearrecruiting cycle?!?! They would be, by far, the highest rated OL we have had in a long while, maybe ever? I have to think they would be some stalwarts on our line for a few years to come.To me, this next year on the field seems pretty crucial, though I'm sure you could say that for every year, but if Fuente can show recruits that last year wasn't a fluke and we are truly on the rise, I would think there would be a ton of buzz around our program. I think it would also go a long way if Teller had a big year and got drafted highly to show some OL prospects that they can get drafted in our system.
Anywho, seems like a slow news day, just thought I'd put that out there.
Sometimes you just have to believe... that's a long time out.

Pretty hard to get a LOI from a Junior.
People would probably shift their collective recruiting b*tching ftom Vice to Scott for a year or so.
So if you're still waiting on Quincy P. to get bumped to a 4* it looks likes we'll have to wait until later in the year. Barton Simmons over at 247 explains here...
Updating class of 2018 QB rankings before The Opening Finals
That's good. Keep him underrated until he signs in December then bump him to a top 100 prospect. I like the way you work Barton Simmons.
True but on the other hand having a highly rated QB in the class can help recruiting other positions. Besides Quincy has made it clear that he is 100% committed and has communicated that to any current suiters including PSU.
Quincy signs during early signing period. Has time to go up in rank and convince others to sign before regular signing day.
Unfortunately, top recruits get materialistic when it comes to rankings and ratings. Top talent wants to play alongside top talent. QP would have had a much easier time recruiting some uncommitted guys at The Opening with that 4th star and top-150 ranking than he will as one of the few 3 stars there.
I think talent recognizes talent, though. The players know who's good on the field, not necessarily what their score on some website is.
I am sure that is true but I would still lean towards recruits/prospects looking at star rankings because it's easier to do. They get sucked into the star ratings just as easy as most fans do
I'm sure not all the recruiting sites will do the "wait and see approach". This means regardless if 247 reranks him late in the fall, the other sites probably will after his showing at the opening. So his composite score should go up regardless and put him in the 4 star rating. If all the other sites rerank him I bet 247 does at least somewhat of a bump as well (just my opinion as I think they won't want to be the last to the party on ranking a guy accurately) before they do another analysis with more film in the fall.
Alan Tisdale announces his commitment date.
Got eem
Ayyyyy. #drawtheline
Something about Fonzy?
Got us a wide receiver tonight.
Recruited as a DB. Unexpected by the staff.
Definitely looks more like a Defensive Back to me. Especially when he's coming forward to deliver a blow. Same size as Mook, so he could be a nickel back with how comfortable he looks in perimeter run and screen support... although would need pass coverage work.
Wow, that's crazy. Is there still a spot for Kalon Gervin?
Also, I never noticed he was from Bishop Sullivan. Glad we're keeping that connection open for a few more years...bring your friends, Armani!!
Just transferred to Bishop Sullivan. Bayside in VB last year. Yes still a spot for Gervin.
No way we would ever turn away Gervin. Kid's a stud. Edit- meant to respond to same guy as you
Gabe Gonzalez OT commits to NC St. This hurts a little.
Shoot, our remaining OL options are starting to get thin. There's Walker and Bradley, which I think are reaches. Then there's Rafferty and McFadden which I'm hopeful for. After that...??
RB Anthony Grant committed to Tennessee today. Along with Jamarcus Chatman.
Call me a label whore, but I'd rather have an Armani Chatman
It appears it's down to us and USF for Caleb Steward.
This is an interesting one. Low rating. Okay tape. Runs with purpose but not speedy or elusive. But. Clearly the staff sees something - and winning a head-to-head croot battle with Charlie Strong is always a good thing.
I don't see how he projects as anything other than a RB, but aren't we pretty flush with 5'11", 190ish ball carriers? I know, I know - the numbers always work out. But does anyone have any color on where Steward would/will fit into the plan?
The numbers always work out.
"I know, I know - the numbers always work out"
Was "helpfulVtkey" already taken?

Like Dr. Phil patients, I figured you knew the answer and just wanted someone else to say it.
Anyhoo...
If anyone would like to hazard an answer to the question I asked, feel free.
It was about Caleb Steward (see above)
Did anyone else see that Billy Ray Mitchell is quitting football due to medical reasons, or is that old news?
Had not heard about that! Never like to hear about guys being forced into hanging it up. Any idea what type of injury?
That 2014 class was really hit big or miss completely wasn't it.
any more so than the traditional 33-33-33 take on the matter? 33% major contributors, 33% minor contributors, 33% bust.
Depends on how you count Reavis, McKenzie, Williams, Keihn.
Reavis and Keihn didn't contribute to VT and the other two are borderline minor contributors.
I think what HF was asking is if they should be considered busts because of their skill level or because of their actual contributions (not a whole lot). There are busts where top recruits just don't make the jump to collegiate level competition and then there are busts where careers are ended early due to injury (Shari and juice) or off the field issues (Reavis and Keihn). Should all busts reflect equally on a coaching staff's ability to recruit?
I was speaking to the idea that if you expect 1/3 of the class to be busts and you are grading the 2014 class for VT then I think you rate players with injuries or other issues as busts.
I get the idea that yhe staff's ability to identify talent maybe shouldn't be judged when there are extenuating circumstances, but that class was recruited by Beamer's staff so it doesn't matter how we rate their ability to evaluate recruits at this point.
I beg to differ
Anyone have some insider's scoop on Kalon Gervin? Tweeted this out right after his Oregon visit. I think it's looking good for the Hokies...
Some think He is a silent commit.
Silent commit to Iowa State?
Yeesh.
He may commit but I'll wait to believe when he signs the paper.
I'm looking forward to July 1st for two reasons:
1. Alan Tisdale committing to the good guys.
2. We get a new July recruitment thread so my laptop doesn't freeze everytime I try to open it up.
And then by July 3rd there will be 18 different 25 MB GIFs that clog up the page.
via GIPHY
I'd like the recruiting to be so active, and enough interest that we need a new thread every week.
What a great problem to have.
Not directly related to VT recruiting, but Shane Beamer just got the #1 running back in the country to sign at Georgia.
Isn't Georgia kind of a running back program though? I'm mean I'm not going to lie I don't expect us getting big name RB's in recruiting any more. Our offense is mainly dual-threat QB's, smart WR's, and tall TE's with a Sam Rogers guy in your pocket. RB's never was a big part of our game last year except for a few plays. My personal opinion
That highly rated and under the tutelage of Mr.Boxing-Glove-on-a-Stick? That kid may never fumble again in his life.
Seriously though, good for him, I have no problem pulling for UGa until he moves on to bigger and better pastures
So right before coming to Tech he picks up Clowney and right after leaving he picks up White. *Le Sigh
But seriously I know Shane was one of our better recruiters. Anyone know off the top of their head who the highest ranked recruit attributed to Shane was while he was at Tech?
Holland Fisher/ Joel Caleb
Sooo... Did anyone else see Dax pick up a FSU crystal ball?
We're doomed. He's going to UCLA.
via GIPHY
*proceeds to read way too much into a BAG gif*
No idea on this guy.. just thought it was a funny comment. Dude is flirting with a few groups. I'll start to worry when the top guys start moving, not a guy who's only made 10 picks and is ranked pretty low as a predictor
Last I heard the staff thinks it's now a VT/FSU battle, which IMO bodes well for VT considering we've been at or near the top by far the longest. South Carolina has dropped off quite a bit. The otjer team I worry about is Stanford if they choose to pursue harder. Kid is serious about academics
Why would anyone feel good about a VT/FSU recruiting battle going our way? We all know how that story ends.
Just means we're due right?!
It's all about the relationship. He's been to Blacksburg at least a dozen times now and VT had been there every step of the way. Early on the worry was Clemson, then UNC, then S. Car, and now FSU. VT has been the constant throughout and there's a comfort in knowing that.
But agreed about fighting off FSU. For every Tre Turner, there are 5 or 19 Sweat's and Nnadi's. Hopefully this one works out differently.
Duke?
Can't tell. Was high on Duke early in June but only has two predictions in, one is a Duke blog writer, the other guy seems to know his shit and is a Carolina regional guy. Buckle up.
Shoot. I was hoping he would announce before Steward. I don't mean to disrespect Steward, and in the end, I trust our staff's ability to evaluate talent much more than my own, but when I watch both of their tapes I get a lot more excited about watching Durant. Seems like he's higher on Duke than us so maybe it doesn't matter, but would love to have Mataeo as our back this class. Then again, if Steward chooses USF maybe our staff puts on the full court press for Durant for 4 days.
In the end, in Fuente I trust and would love for Steward to prove me wrong (or Durant to prove me right).
I think Steward picks VT, but hypothetically speaking if we miss out on Steward and Durant, do we offer Beck then?
Beck is a hard call. Still waiting on that one. The kid is fast but there is more than just speed. Love to see him as a Hokie but the coaches have a plan and he may not be in the plan
If we don't get an RB in this class i wouldn't be too distraught. Makes it that much easier to get 5-Star Ford next year.
Theoretically of course...
My opinion would be they take one of either Davidson or steward and focus flipping Elliot for this class, and then put all of your eggs into the Decyn Ford basket in '19
I am not in favor of the "put all your eggs in one basket" approach to recruiting any position.
But it's such a fast, powerful, and elusive basket...
Yea like when we missed on Laborn and everyone said "its ok, we're going all in on Slade"
Past returns are not indicative of future gains.
Take a deep breath my dude. New staff. New vibe. Different kids.
What? Its our current staff that didn't get Slade after missing Laborn.
Laborn committed early in the 2017 cycle before Fuente even got his first product on the field, plus he wasn't the right fit for us (aka Lambo commit.) Slade is a true miss for now but still has the opportunity to flip.
Recruiting is all about relationships. You can't come in relatively last minute and expect to have your pick of high-class recruits. You need a year, preferably two, to create those connections and repair broken ones.
Franklin at PSU is reaping this right now (re: Slade). Same with Fisher (re: Laborn).
Here's hoping we can do that with Ford.
Zohn was his primary for two years. And no, the first year recruiting bump is a thing. Time for relationships is overblown
Completely disagree. Doesn't matter how awesome your primary position coach is / was if he isn't the big whistle. So many previous misses have said how great they were with Wiles or Foster, but only to lose out to Fisher, Swiney, and other more dynamic HEAD coaches. Fuente is more in line with this so you should see better results.
Man this board is still so sour about that. You think the staff thought twice about it?
This board gets sour over recruiting?
No, we don't even Sweat it.
Nnadi-ven close to being sour.
Yea I would say that we Hand-le recruiting losses better than most any other board.
Your argument disregards a key point (aside from the fact that Fuente's staff postdates Laborn's recruitment):
Just because Laborn's from VA doesn't make him a 'crooting miss. Just because he's a top prospect and a great player doesn't make him a 'crooting miss. I know that we want to get all the top talent (especially in-state), but they have to want us as well. The only card we had to play with Laborn was "proximity". And that didn't matter to him. Let's not kid ourselves: Khalan Laborn was never coming here. If anything, he kind of trolled us...
(I have more hope for flipping Slade.)
Apply that point to Ford and Slade as well then. Then they won't be misses either.
Is the staff still actively recruiting Slade?
CBs are starting to come in for Durant to Duke, 5 in the last 24 hours...doesn't look good for the Hokies. Shoot.
I like this.
Well June's nearly done!
And June for VT recruiting:

I'm so mad I can't even be happy right now. I was looking for a commit not going to lie!
I rarely get "got" by these recruits and their games but I have to give this kids props for that... I really thought he was going to commit, haha.
It just makes me want him more (no homo)
I am kindly asking you to edit your comment by removing the parentheses statement you made at the end. I'm sure you meant no harm, but IMO this comes off as something not appropriate on this site. If you do, then I'll replace my comment with a thanks.
So the other week, me and a friend were going door to door looking for recruits (no momo)...
Sometimes I just want to wrap myself in chocolate (no hoho)...
I used to be a successful ginger comedian (no coco)...
I totally dreamt I was the QB for Dallas (no Romo)...
Ok I'll stop now...
He decided to play in an Under Armour game?? We're a Nike school!

Nope, it's not it
I would expect a decision around the fourth weekend of July. If you catch my drift......
Ahh I see
Mike Farrell from Rivals says Clemson is team to beat for KJ Henry, but Bama and UGA are close behind. Are WE EVEN IN THE TOP 5?!?!??
Ehhhh I highly doubt we have ever really been. Well maybe top 5 but not top 3.
Lol sorry to whoever I offended.
We are top 5, maybe even top 2. Bama was the leader as of last weekend.
Thinking about Clemson getting KJ and Xavier Thomas makes by blood boil.
This is great news. Little while ago looked like this ship had sailed
That's awesome. Still seems like the biggest thing going against us is bringing in two good TEs last year, so his path to playing time is a little more crowded, but hopefully Fuente and Corn can show him how we can use him early. He would be a great weapon for us!
FWIW Quincy Patterson is in his ear
This is a really big deal. Pitts is the real deal and the staff felt like they could seal the deal if they could get him and his parents to campus!
False alarm everyone.
Big stage... with top players all around.... national spotlight all on a commitment
Who is at the opening that we have a chance with? I know Patterson, Pitts, and Gervin are there. Anyone else?
Rasheed Walker
Thought PSU was going to run away with that one too. But he said they don't actually lead. Hopefully our MD Hokies get in his ear because that would be a serious coup
Gwyn hopefully. NC and OL
Happy last day of this mega-thread, everyone!
For anyone that remembers this article, this guy is going to be fascinating to watch at the opening.

6'9" 400 lbs, and apparently carries it well. Got offers from all the power houses before ever playing a down of football.
"Get lower!!! Or just do whatever the hell you want, apparently."
