College Football News is ranking the Top 20 coaches since 1998. CFB came in at #13. Would have loved to see him come in higher. But so far everyone above him has a National Title, so kind of hard to argue with that.
There weren't any national titles, and the era got a little stale over his last four seasons, but with the utmost class, and with unquestioned respect from his peers, the future College Football Hall of Famer became the rare coach who made a program totally his during a 29-year run in Blacksburg.

Can't really argue with the rankings too much if everyone above him has a national title.
Something a little comical in the article - they said his Biggest Moment was the 2010 ACC Title game. Wanting to enjoy some nostalgia, I clicked on the YouTube video of highlights for the game. About 2 min in and I still hadn't seen a VT highlight (we had scored 2 TDs at this point) . Sure enough, it's the FSU highlights video that was linked.
Could the writer of this article not find a neutral recap video for the 2010 ACC Championship Game? The one that is embedded was obviously made by an FSU fan. Not a single VT touchdown is shown!
I really like they wrapped up this article by by pointing out that his "worst" season ended with a winning record, a win over our in-state rival, and a bowl game win. That's seriously not a bad season, we were just so accustomed to really really good seasons.
Yeah, I liked the overall article. And we were definitely spoiled for a while. Thankfully, now it looks like we're back on track to being spoiled again.
Hadn't clicked on the video to see it was FSU highlights...
Is there a link to the complete top 20?
