My favorite all time Hokie, Brandon Flowers, will be retiring from the NFL, according to USA Today.
Flowers, an All American for both of his seasons as a starter at Virginia Tech, made the Pro Bowl in 2013. As a fan and close observer of the team since 1991, Flowers more than any other Hokie, exemplified the notion of the underdog who plays harder and faster than his opponents to win that the Virginia Tech program was built upon during their national ascendency. He is and will continue to be my favorite player who put on the uniform.
Thanks for the memories, Mr. Flowers.

I actually laughed at the image he used for his announcement.
Edit in case the embed code does not work:

Those jerseys were the GOAT.
By a wide margin.
White jerseys, Maroon pants with the bit of orange at the bottom, orange socks.
Hnnnggg.
Loved his attitude on the field.
Well #80 seems to think it's funny. Also, lol at the little girl.
That one's tough for me. On the one hand, love Brandon Flowers. On the other hand, as a Broncos' fan, fuck the Chiefs. On the other other hand, FUCK the Raiders. So I guess that gets a leg.
Just This
I have no idea how many times I've watched that youtube video you embedded but I know I've seen it enough times that the song started playing in my head immediately from the thumbnail haha.
My all time favorite corner and one of my favorite hokies of all time. I hope him all the best in retirement.
I've had this article praising Flowers through charting bookmarked on my Mac for years.
Hands down my favorite DB that I ever watched play at VT. What a complete player, with his sure tackling and blanket coverage. We never had to worry about him in run support and he had a heavy shoulder.
Most importantly I love the connection he gave us with other future FL hokies.
Thanks for representing VT with class and helping make DBU what it is!
Best corner I have seen at VT, and I have seen some very good ones.
Flowers is definitely one of my all-time favorite VT players, along with Bryan Randall and Lee Suggs.
That was the golden age of Hokies Football, IMO.
Congrats on a great career # 18!
The golden age is about to happen, IMO
My favorite Hokie DB as well. The 2007 Clemson game where he was lighting up receivers on screens has always stuck in my mind.
DBU was strong and spoiled then. Jimmy Williams followed by Brandon Flowers. Neither racked up big stats because teams just wouldn't throw to their side of the field. Defenders so dangerous their presence shutdown the a team's passing game.
What were those strange single digit numbers next to the Virginia Tech scores at the top of the screen. Would be nice to see some of those again.
When Williams got (wrongfully) kicked from the Louisville Gator Bowl, Flowers took his place. I remember a buddy of mine I was watching the game with saying, 'Flowers huh? Doesn't sound like much of a football player.'
Reminds me of a random memory I have as a kid, playing NFL Quarterback Club '99 on the N64. There was a play where I was controlling Steelers safety Lee Flowers while bringing down Ravens fullback Roosevelt Potts, and was just so amused by the fact that Flowers just tackled Potts.

Kept waiting for that hit on the FSU QB during the highlight reel
Truly one of the all time great names, too.
In Blacksburg, Flowers tramples you.
He had a Killer career... sorry
