Nah, move them. Burrus on the one side, Torgerson the other, both at half court. Pit the War Memorial pylons in the 3-point arc outside the free-throw box on both sides and make the background there Burnt Orange.

For my eye, the one side with the three buildings is very busy and overall it's unbalanced. Burruss on one side with War Memorial and the Pylons on the other would've been more proportional.
All-in-all, it's a great initial effort to try to do something different, but tasteful.

A fencer posts a fencing related "touche" picture after acceding a point in a prior post. Hmm, is this in itself worthy of another "touche" from the original poster? Friday afternoon deep thoughts.

The maroon Hokie Stone does look good. If we could somehow incorporate that design into our football uniforms, maybe with some charcoal gray accents, that would look sharp. I hope they continue to incorporate the Hokie Stone look wherever possible throughout the athletics department.

I was a fan of the Bristol Hokie Stone helmets. The wrap of an actual picture of Hokie Stone on the 2013 helmets wasn't so great. Would be cool to see a version of the Bristol ones with maroon instead of the black. I'm thinking something maroon Hokie Stone textured on the actual jerseys, on the shoulders/sleeves or underneath the arms.

After someone pointed it out in the other thread, all I can see now is that the maroon in the VT and the maroon in the paint are different shades. Besides that, I actually do like it a lot.

I really dig this actually; I didn't even notice the stone pattern until Joe showed a closer image. Sure, it probably would have looked cleaner with just Burruss Hall, but I think this is fine. I don't think I would like to see buildings on the other side of the court. As for asymmetry, that usually looks great (I wish Lane Stadium had the east and west sides symmetrical), but I think the Cleveland Cavs did a good job with their skyline on the court, as did Cassell Coliseum.

I think it turned out pretty good. Drop two of the three buildings, and I would like it even more.
For me, they could have left the buildings off.
I like the maroon hokiestone, though.

Agreed...figure your talking about leaving the main building in the middle.
The maroon brick turned out fantastic.

Joe, you're better than this.
Is it really Hokie Stone when it's anything other than that sweet grey dolomite-limestone mix?

Like if they put Hokie Stone on a helmet

Minnesota has a brick pattern in their uniform numbers. Always thought VT should've done something similar with Hokie Stone.
Yes...very tasteful.
Was the Carillion sponsorship a 1 year thing? I don't see their logo anywhere.
It's a 10-year deal, so I guess that's also going to be on there.
Carilion sponsorship deal
Which is probably the reason why they only put the buildings on one side of the court
Darn naming rights...
$500K a year is some good scholarship money.
I don't disagree at all, financially.
Just aesthetically.
Didn't Carillion pay big bucks to get their logo on the court? Did that deal expire or are the logos still going on later.
Their logo will probably be added to the other side of the court since it is empty.
I might be in the minority but I like it.

I'm thinking this was done on purpose to help differentiate between the box and the out of bounds area.
For as much criticism as its receiving, I have to say I like it a lot.
As a designer, the asymmetry is killing me. In addition, didn't think torgerson would be at the Same level as burruss and the chapel.
I didn't realize it until now but I am pretty sure Tort extends farther to the baseline than the pylons do.
Colors are bad and its way too busy.

I like the finished product a lot better. Good work.
Really like it. I'll take anything to amp up Cassell and make it a better place to play from a looks and recruiting perspective.
Now move the student sections to the floor behind the baskets.
