My boss has a couple of kids currently enrolled at VT and they received a mass email inviting anyone interested in walking on to the football team to come to a meeting on campus today, specifically targeting WRs and DBs. Now I never received anything like this when I was enrolled but maybe others out there did...sign of desperation or do you think CJF is exploring any and all options to find talent?

I had a friend studying chemical engineering at tech that was followed by coaches from the basketball and football programs constantly asking if he wanted to try out. Then again he was 6'8" and 310 pounds.
It means they are looking for scout team guys and those are specific needs for the scout team. Beamer use to do this every year (most of the time in the spring) and it was run by Ballein, Bruce, and the GA's. I am sure Fuente runs the tryout differently but it is the same process.
Wonder if I've still got eligibility...
If I weren't horribly slow, old, prone to injury, and uncoordinated, I would rock the shit out of this walk on try out.
Man, had they had this last year when I was in grad school, I definitely woulda been there. Woulda gotten my behind handed to me, but whatever.
