My anxiety level is higher than I expected.
I'm a little anxious too. This is definitely going to be a good match up. We need to rep the ACC well tonight after a fairly poor showing from the top games yesterday.
So many unknowns for VT. My two biggest questions are:
- can VT run it without an Evans QB workload?
- can VT get after Grier consistently with limited DL depth?
If we can't run it and they force the game onto JJs shoulders, we could be in trouble. If we need to blitz Grier to get after him, that leaves us exposed. And how will Big Tim handle WVUs pace?

It really comes down to holding an edge in the amount of points after time expires.

Ok, so all you all very well know, I woke up sick yesterday..so I decided to start drinking early.
Around 10 or so, I decided to lay down for a nap. Before I drift off to sleep, my wife tells me she's gonna run to the commissary and then take our friend to the visitor center for a base pass - he wants to head home for a bit to do his draft and then come back around game time. Cool. Off to sleep I go. Around 12 or so, I wake up and my wife is sitting across the couch from me and casually says, " *friend* is in jail" ...uhhh what?? Apparently this guy had a warrant out for his arrest...for what, I dunno, apparently he didn't know either. At the visitor center they kept saying the system was down, when in reality they were contacting the local PD who came and took my friend off to jail, lol. ...welp, his game day is ruined but whatever. While my wife is telling me all this I'm like...the house is super quiet, where are the dogs? ...after a quick search, I realize my dogs, the shit heads that they are, escaped and have been missing for at least an hour. I call security forces to see if maybe they've seen my dogs while out on patrol..and to my luck, the chief had! Unfortunately, he didn't actually have my dogs, he just saw them. We didn't get our dogs back until mid-way through the 3rd quarter of the game, they managed to get off base and tour the country side apparently.
So that's it, the story of how I got drunk early, took a nap, and everything proceeded to go to shit.
But...the Hokies won and we got my dogs back, so all in all....good day?
They were sold out of the rib tips at the Hokie bar where I live. So it sounds like it was a tough day all around... /s

Part of me wants to be extremely confident in JJ's abilities and all this talk from the outside of VT has QB issues is all for not but I don't know. I haven't seen him do anything so I have really no idea, but I trust in Fuente and belief he redshirted JJ last year for this specific reason. He knew JJ was good enough to play and win last year but was able to give him the redshirt with Evans playing well.
Plus they keep streaming on the ESPN ticker how the last time a freshman started for VT was Mike Vick. That ended up pretty well for us.

I'll refrain from making my observations until I rewatch the game at lunch on Tuesday, but I'm encouraged by what I saw in full speed. Alot of heart, alot of grit. Definitely some areas to brush up on, but that win is the type of win that sets a damn good tone for the next few weeks. Let's hope we came out without any major health issues and get ready for week 2. 1-0 boys!

I've been a VT fan for going on 4 years now, and I have to say, that was one of the best games I ever watched. I dunno if it's because it felt homey watching them play at FedEx or what, but that was incredible! Josh Jackson is everything I was hoping for. Adonis stepped up. Cam made some 5 star catches. This team has so much potential. I hope we use this as momentum and crush the Coastal. Imagine if we don't drop that one per usual Coastal game that never makes sense. Magic is happening people! Get 'em all when nobody is expecting you to.
I obviously need to take my contacts out and go to sleep... I read that as "...because I felt horny watching them play..." at first....

Not only a great win for us fans but probably one of the best games of the weekend for those that were tuning in. Apparently UCLa ATM was interesting too but whatever. Great game and a great win. (Note that I would like vT to win all games 52-0)

I just realized by googling it that WVU's best receiver Gary Jennings is the son of one of my best friends from my previous job in Richmond. The dad played defensive line at St. Paul's College back in the day and was huge, we called him "Scary Gary" even though he was one of the nicest guys you could know. Also one of the highest quality people, total integrity man in law enforcement work. Wish his son was a Hokie.
