I have a feeling JJ throws at least one pick. Some of his throws seemed rather weak and ill-advised last game. I still am amazed at how luck he was on that pass to Carroll. Still expect a big win though.
Really? That was opposite of my take. I thought the coaches did a great job not giving him a lot of options that were dangerous. He underthrew two deep balls to Phillips but I'd much rather him under throw them over throw.
The CJC catch was a pass we saw Evans, Brewer and LT complete regularly. You throw it where only your guy can get to it.
He might throw some picks but I didn't leave the WVU game concerned about his arm strength or decision making.
Some of the passes had an element of risk, but he seemed very accurate to me. His decision making was great.
Agreed, certainly not all of his throws, but honestly a few seemed to lack some zip on them. I don't know if his mechanics weren't set or what but some of his throws just seemed dangerous. Plus, he is a redshirt freshman after all. He will certainly make mistakes and make some bad throws. I doubt we see a Jerod Evans-like start to the season where he doesn't throw a pick for like 6 games or something crazy like that.
Jerod had an INT against BC (game 3) and 3 lost fumbles in games 1 and 2. Corn and Fuente really like how Jackson takes care of the football. I think the big time stats for Jackson will come.
Me too for sure. But I think he will throw a few freshman picks. He is already more careful than a normal freshman, but he is still a freshman and I certainly don't have the expectations yet for him to be a top QB in the country. Eventually, but not now.
I disagree on the decision making comment. I thought he made a lot of good decisions and threw the ball away when he should have. Way better than Grier in the decision making department. Mountain hey-zeus definitely got lucky on several passes that he should not have tried to force in there.
I do agree with the arm strength comment though. Seemed to float a few and under threw some deep balls.
Yeah that is a better way to put it. It really all stemmed from the arm strength on some of the passes for me. Some of the poorer decisions from me were probably based on the fact that there was a higher chance they got picked based on the pass being floated kinda.

To summarize so far, the stream/feed sucks a fat one, the offense seems to be trying different shit to see if they can get other stuff going (appears disjointed/out of sync), and defense is playing well, especially Floyd.

So if this game is not on TV on any channel anywhere, why are there commercial breaks? If the online feed is the only place to see the game, and the online feed isn't showing actual commercials, why do we keep getting the ESPN Your Event is in a Commercial Break screen?

Could this be an issue with too many people trying something similar and ESPN being dumb enough to believe people would only watch on the phone? Jackson throws a very nice, catchable ball. We just don't have anyone who can catch it (several easy drops).
Disagree. He's lofted several passes way too much this game resulting in severe underthrows and allowing defenders to recover. There have been some drops but also some solid plays from Delaware too.
I'd have to agree, with your disagreement. He seemed tardy on a few completions, drops AND misfires. Some of its probably experience, and maybe a little of last-week hangover.

Look, I don't know how else to explain this. I am glad we are winning and will win this game, but the lackluster effort to get there sucks. I've seen this team play like this too many times against rivals like Pitt, Mia, etc. It will cost them in a game down the road.

That game was super frustrating to watch. I 100% agree on that front. Offensively, gotta be more efficient then that. But, I'm not sure how much of the game plan was to see what works and what doesn't, but I think VT found a lot of things that aren't working right now.
I'm just hoping they improve on this game. Overall, a positive result with the win and shutout (luckily, their kicker sucks). The tape review will be good way to improve the team.
Bottom line is this is a classic let down game. It's better to get these out the way as we can still workout these issues with our next two opponents before the big showdown. We are a young team don't forget that.

I absolutely hate, hate to be that guy. But I was at the game today and had the worst gameday experience I have ever had. The security absolutely sucks. A mob of people almost rioted because it was taking way too long to get through the gate on the East Side. The gameday security is an absolute embarrassment. Events with 100k plus can get through quicker. Then fight through all that to see a half ass effort today.
Love the Hokies always, and I will continue to support the program, but the gameday experience is lacking severely from what I knew as a student. May be my last year holding season tickets.

Sorry you had a bad experience brother. Having worked as a stadium staff member for 2 years ('15-'16), I can say that the biggest problem facing Rhino is lack of employees/high turnover. Trust me when I say that they are working hard to fix it, but very much have an uphill climb.

I think it's the scrimmage-like feel to it. The offense isn't dominating like they should. They have been extremely inefficient, too many missed opportunities, extremely poor on 3rd down.
It's a bad day, they happen. Clemson last year had a couple of early scares/games they should have lost but they found a way to win. Is it frustrating? Absolutely. We SHOULD be playing better. But these days happen. Take it in stride and support our guys, that's what they need from the fanbase!

They remember how we hyped #Gameday4Frank, and Week 5 only has one alternative between current Top 25 teams, UGA vs Tenn, which would surely be picked up by CBS. If Tenn beats UF next week and UGA beats ND tonight, it's probably likely that those two teams would enter that game undefeated and in the Top 15 and on CBS.

Running game is a mess. Backs slow to hole when there is one. Line has weak push. And several times backs totally missed the hole. Freshman QB is getting no support from the run game. I'm hoping it's the short week curse but not comforted by today's game. However it's good to start 2 and 0.
I was unable to watch the game live due to my saturday special olympic volunteer obligations; 4PM on a saturday, really? But I just finished the replay on watch ESPN, just my novice observations:
Positive: Might as well start with these, there weren't too many of them.
- Tremaine Edmunds looked very good. Seemed very sure whenever he got his hands on somebody, regardless of if it was for a loss or to stop a big gain. Really is just a giant out there. Terrell Edmunds as well was very impactful, wish he would have had that pick-6, sure the boys will dog him for getting brought by the QB. Those two seemed to be the reasons why they were never able to put up any points.
- Reggie Floyd really impressed me. He was making plays all over the field. Definitely a stud in the making.
-JJ seemed just ok. Didn't run super well, but then again I really don't think that is a strong suit of his game. I think it is clear what the coaches meant by he takes care of the ball. I've never seen a player more willing to throw the ball away. Not necessarily a bad thing I guess though. He didn't throw any picks like I predicted pregame, so that's good. There were some nice passes early on that I think the WRs let him down. He was an overall positive, but not by much.
-Joey Slye had a good game. 1/2 on 50+ yarders. And 2/2 I believe on <50 yarders. A good game for him after the dreadful performance against WVU.
Negatives: There were quite a few.
-The defensive line got worked quite a few times it seemed. They made plays obviously, but against this caliber of team I would have expected more. Not a glaring negative, but not great.
-The offensive line, man, really disappointing. We were unable to get anything going in the run. They had good pass protection it seemed, but really were unable to blow open holes for the RBs to utilize.
-WRs dropped some nice passes from JJ. Cam was once again the really only consistent guy, and he even fumbled, not great. Savoy showed some wiggle on the WR screens, but really was lackluster. The rest? Well I honestly couldn't even tell you the names of the other WRs that played that's how invisible they were!
-The offense in general. Idk if it was playcalling, player execution, or what, but every one seemed like they were just doing their own thing. Didn't seem cohesive. We looked very young and inexperienced basically at skill positions. In a game against an FCS opponent we really looked bad. Delaware was able to put together better offensive drives than we were it seemed. This looked and played like a 2012-2016 era Hokie team on offense (why did I have to attend during the worst 4 year span?).
Good thing is that ECU got their guts touched by WVU today. I hope JJ just continues to gain chemistry with his OLine and WRs. We need to improve offensively or we WILL NOT win the division.
EDIT: Oh and to add. If we ever complain about a RB missing blocking assignments we can just watch the Delaware RB and feel better. That man had a hands-off approach to blocking.
Also turns out Slye had a blocked FG. Forgot about that one. So he still had a good day, just not great.

Don't know if anyone posted this earlier (on mobile, can't a search) but Stroman's kick return was against 10 men. I was at the game (with both brothers and we won again, good luck confirmed) and a UDel player tried to run on late before a coach almost erupted trying to avoid a penalty.

I'm starting to think that app is what screwed up the streaming.
Eh, they had the WatchESPN app for years, and last fall or winter they merged it together with the base ESPN app with no problem. As far as I can tell, the streaming issue started when they made a complete overhaul of the WatchESPN interface recently, presumably changing a lot of the guts under-the-hood in the process, as I never had any issues through the end of the school year, streaming various things.
The last few weeks have probably just been much more of a stress test than they were expecting, hopefully they hammer out the issues soon (though I don't know why they had to go and fix what wasn't broken in the first place).
Couldn't watch due to final storm preps, but glad we got the win. Should I be concerned about the offense or did it look like more of a short week hangover type performance?
I'll say short week hangover, for a team with a lot of young players. Sometimes took big chunks of yards in a series of big plays, but usually things were just, well, off. Still got the win.
I figure they can use a full week of recovery and prep, let's see how they look next week.

The Hokie stone uniforms, we never play good in them. We need to stick to maroon and white uniforms only. The black uniforms, the hokie stone uniforms, the orange uniforms all need to be gone! Worry more about play and less about uniforms!
I don't think the coaches are designing the uniforms instead of leading practice.
