The defensive line coach has been elevated to Defensive Coordinator at ECew and the previous DC will not coach for them any longer, but will be reassigned within the football program.
The new DC was previously a co-DC at Cincinnati for three years.
They have given up 1233 yards and 90 points the first two weeks of the season.

Man, Eastern Carolina is a hot mess this year.
That's what they get for firing Ruffin McNeil. As much as I have complained about playing ECU as much as we do I always sort of liked Ruff. I respect him as a coach and I thought what ECU did to him was pretty unfair. So at this point I'm completely okay with their program going the way I imagine many couches in Morgantown went on the 3rd
goo news for Ruffin McNeil, he made a quick pit spot at UVA with 1 foot always out the door and bolted for Oklahoma when he got the call. ECU Alumni and fellow coaches in the business were dumbfounded when he was fired by the pirates.
This move never made sense to me. As much as I dislike ECU, he at least seemed to have them headed in the right direction.
No doubt in my mind Delaware has a better defense than ECU, maybe a better all around team from what i've seen from this years team.

This is precisely why I hate the 25 year home and home series with these bastards. A few years ago it was the big nose guard that Conference USA had no trouble blocking, but wrecked VT's entire offense. Then it was the 20 deep jump balls by medicore, small QB Shane Carden that shredded "DBU"..then Phillip Summers (who???) - 2nd string garbage QB looking like Mike Vick against Bud Foster- yes folks.. and now you tell me that after getting neck stomped by JMU and toyed with by WVU.. "their skill guys can really ball".. jesus H christ... I can picture Facyson and Alexander looking totally lost against the team JMU destroyed on the road... lovely.. I - hate- this -series- and let me check... nope..hasn't helped VT "recruiting" one iota.

I'm still willing to offer my suggestion that we just take a year off from ACC play to play ECU 11 times in a row, and then be done with those fools forever. Contract fulfilled.

Color me scared for this game though. ECU sitting at 0-2 and looking butt ugly through the first two. Hokies at 2-0, with a first year starting quarterback on his first true road game, Hokie fans riding the hype train. Sirk is a capable runner. This is the type of game Frank Beamer's late teams would stumble in. Let us pray Fuente and Co takes care of business, for my sanity, for peace and not rage-filled shouting within my household this Saturday.
Sirk is in concussion protocol as well.
This doesn't make me feel any better. If Sirk doesn't play, It would be just like ECU to start Joe Blow McNobody, and he runs for 300 yards and passes for 350 on the Hokies.
I though Gardner Minshew was their starter or did he lose the job after the JMU loss?
Sirk came in full time in the second half of the JMU game and then was the starter vs. WVU.
I don't think EwwwwCU will mind us laying hundreds of yards and 90 points on them. Statistically we might as well pad their stats!

I know ECU has played us close in the past, but this is NOT that same ECU team. This ECU squad is just plain bad in every facet of the game. Sounds like their OL is incapable of effectively pass blocking, leading their QB to get lit up early and often. Its the reason Sirk is out with a concussion, and if they had trouble with WVU's pass rush, they're in for a nightmare against our interior line. And defensively, its just in an unbelievable bad state.
Best way I've had it described to me... They're in the same spot in football where we were in with basketball under James Johnson. They might have a couple good players, but the sum of the parts is horrible, and doesn't give much of a prayer for a shot at winning. Shame, because Scott Montgomery seems like a legitimate good guy, but he's in way over his head.
The way some folks are carrying on about this game like it's more dangerous than WVU is pretty amusing.
Honestly I think they're even worse off than our basketball team was in the JJ era... JJ at least led us to 6 ACC wins in 2 years, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this ECU team end up on a 2-year long streak.
Alum, I've been meaning to ask you for a while, but how come the Mud Dogs Bourbon Bowl comeback gets no love in your tag?
Two things I hope:
1) The current ECU AD gets fired and everyone gets fired and they hire Ruffin back for whatever job he wants because he was great.
2) That the ECU series ends so I can join the Hokie Club like I promised. If the series ends early, I'll pay double.
