Saturday's game will mark the first time the Hampton, Virginia native has received this prestigious honor. Newsome appeared in 12 games for the Hokies in 2016 and all three games this season. He will play in his 34th career game for Tech on Saturday at Lane Stadium.

Glad to see Deon finally getting some recognition in his 8th year with the program.
Rivaled only by Drew Lighty and Aaron Craft playing for anOSU men's bball
Or Chris Weinke and his 16 seasons at FSU.
J.T. Barrett just entered his 9th year at anOSU...
One of the Plumlee's is entering his 8th season for Dook.
EDIT: I have no idea. Maybe they've all finally graduated. Or maybe I could do some quick research and find out.
I'm not going to lie.... I forgot he was still on the team.

That's awesome! I'm sure coming out of Hampton, he's especially excited to wear it against ODU. Hopefully he keeps the streak alive and makes his presence felt on the field!
He's pretty much guaranteed to run back a fumble or block a kick now.
Jet sweep
Wish Tech could have gotten his brother to sign.
Poor dude was injured last week ironically vs ODU
Im really hoping he has a strong rest of the season. Made some big plays and showed a lot of promise at Ohio state in '14. Had some bad luck finding a position. It is nice to have talented players like this on the field for us tho, special teams is definitely an opportunity.
