In the video, he mentions the close wins against ECU and Marshall and the dismal play of Logan Thomas. I don't think he gets how good these teams actually are. But yeah Logan isn't going to be drafted in the first round in the NFL draft anytime soon.
But my main point is.. Who is overrating us? I don't think anyone is giving us any props, besides to our defense (which is thoroughly deserved by the way). Anyways, thoughts?

I was trying load that in the extremely slow location of the library. I had a feeling we would be on there. Not it just seems they want to trash us just to trash us.
If we're overrated then Michigan better be on that damned list. Honestly we're probably right where we deserve to be around #30 because we can be good, but other than defense we haven't really shown much of anything.
Michigan is still #18 and I have no idea why. They looked nothing short of laughable against Akron and UCONN. And people give us crap for having a tough time with Marshall??
Yeah they were first and USC (southern cal) is the other
Thanks ESPN videos are blocked here at work... =(
At least they got two of them right.
I don't get being overrated when you aren't rated at all. If we were ranked in the top 20 and almost lost to UConn then I get it, but saying someone un-rated is over-rated is a total #GOESPN move.
This.
I read the comment, said I was going to type "This" in my head, look down and it's already there. Up-votes for both of you.
There is just a lot of piling on this week about the decline of the program. Following a 7-6 season, we don't look any better and everyone is pointing it out. Particularly useful in conjunction with the Texas situation.
Time to beat GT and turn this tide.
Lets just win em all and f*ck em if they can't take a joke.
Yeah......f*ck 'em!!!!!! GO HOKIES!!!!
NSFW!!!!!!!
Oh my god that F-ing movie.
Nice tits, BITCH!!!

During the Marshall game, Kendell Fuller made a play on the ball, and ESPN puts some other guys face up next to his name, while they talk the play. Don't even know who the guy was, could have been Tookes, could have been some kid in dreads they saw on the street. Sorry ESPN, this ain't Clemson, you can't just put a picture of any kid with dreads and hope we don't notice. Getting used to them calling players by the wrong names, it's pathetic, they have NO CREDIBILITY TO TALK ABOUT ANY TEAM. It is just aggrivating how little effort they are putting in to cover teams. They talk a lot of junk and have no idea about what or who they are talking about. Guess that is the ESPN way.
thanks for the confirmation on this, I couldn't believe what I caught in passing...
I nearly died when I saw that. It was hilarious. Not even like they used Kyle's picture.
Yeah, they missed by a mile and no sort of "my bad" on their part.
My bad, I was thinking Kyle and wrote Kendal.
No, it was Kendall. My point was that it wasn't even like they used a different Fuller.
Also heard one of the announcers throw out "Vah Tech" right before a commercial break.
Whenever somebody refers to the Hokies as "Vah Tech", I could punch a 6 week-old baby right in the face.
They used it quite often and it made me want to mute the tv.
Seriously. Nobody calls GT "Gah Tech" or TT "Teh Tech".
Better question: why are we giving the four letter network page clicks?
The most use I get out of any ESPN post these days is to click the link, laugh to myself about what it says about the Hokies, and then discard the "information" from my brain.
So let me get this straight. We are currently not ranked. We went 7-6 last season. We have a new offensive coordinator. We were picked to finish somewhere in the middle of the ACC. We are currently 3-1 with our lone loss coming at the hands of the #1 team in the nation (highly regarded by E$ECPN as the best team to ever grace this universe) and somehow that makes us overrated? What am I missing here?
Yeah that was exactly my question... No respect
It's gotta be for the page views. I mean, think about it. They spout some worthless dribble about how a team that no one had any expectations for goes 3-1 and has like 3 votes in the polls and calls them overrated? Now all the Hokies click on the link and sit through their stupid 30 second ad to see if it's true. VT alone probably got them 20-30k views and god knows how many Michigan and USC got them, and those two deserved it.
Mark Schlabach is an idiot, and one of the main reasons that I don't espn.com anymore. Complete waste of time.
If the Hokies are overrated (which they're not) IT'S YOU GUYS DOING THE RATING!!!! Why would you waste my time by telling me that you suck at your job, basically?
It's actually pretty genius on their part. Put something out so people click on it. Have another writer bash what the first one put out. More page clicks. As much as I dislike reading their stuff, they are pretty damn smart about marketing/getting clicks.
I agree. It's kind of frustrating because I hate the way they cover sports. But they are a damn good business.
This is why I don't look at them anymore. I'll use their GameCast for games for which I want live stats and I'll look at the schedule page because it tells me which network each game is on, but I bailed on their yellow journalism a long time ago. ESPN has found that their primary business is not covering sports in a nonpartisan way, it's making money. And when you discover that your whole enterprise should be geared toward making money, non-partisanship goes out the window (cough, cough, Longhorn Network, cough, hiring Urban Meyer for a year, cough, cough).
What you said.
Speaking of overrated when does F$U's cinderalle Natioinal Championship season come to an end against NC State or Wake Forest?
October 5th vs. Maryland. You heard it here first.
No way. FSU doesn't lose to good teams when they're good. They Clemson it up a little and will probably lose to NC State or Boston College.
Mark Schlabach is a known SEC cocksucker. Who gives a flop what he says? I certainly don't.
ESPN blows so hard sometimes. I refuse to go on their site except for Uniwatch, I like those guys. Fox Sports for me.
I actually thought the title said Mark Schlereth, to which I was about to respond "he's not even a college football analyst!!!" But then again, judging by the sentiments of this article that I refuse to read, his commentary is about as intelligent as someone who doesn't even watch college football.
And in related news, ESPN tops list of most overrated "sports analysis" outlets.
We'll see how 'overrated' we really are, when our defense tramples all over the best the Atlantic Division has in Charlotte. (please let it be klempson!)
When someone says a team is overrated, it is just an opinion. VT could win every game by 3-7 points and finish 12-1 and they would still say "overrated" just because games aren't won by a large amount I'd say. Most of the games aren't even watched. They are just seen from the boxscore point of view.
