I realize there are no other games in the eyes of most Hokies this week but since there's an ACC coastal matchup tonight I wanted to get a discussion going.
I noticed Lawrence Cager is seeing the field for Miami tonight. I can't believe he's only a redshirt sophomore because it seems like ages since that all went down.

No other games? I was pretty curious about Miami-Duke, to be honest.
I want to know it's Miami that's legitimate, or if it's Duke.
I'm just saying GameDay is in town, there were 4 hype trailers released, and Saturday night might be the biggest game in Blacksburg in 12 years.
If I was in Blacksburg I'd be downtown and probably not focusing too much on the Duke/Miami game. I can't be there though and this week got me amped for football. Hence I created this thread.
Yeah I'm watching both this and Wazzu-USC because I love Mike Leach.
Gotta love a purely intellectual coach. Pretty boring and uninspiring guy who doesn't have a ton of talent to work with, but is winning with focus, fundamentals, and plain X's and O's.
Uh...I wouldn't call him boring. Apparently the man is a quote machine. Asked about the environment in WSU stadium last night, his response was, "It's like Woodstock, but everyone has their clothes on."
Perhaps you meant his coaching style? Even then I don't know that I agree. Didn't he develop the Air Raid Offense, which by most accounts was one of the original, and very exciting, spread style schemes?
Duke is giving this game away so far.
Miami does not impress me on offense. I think Duke is easily capable of coming back and making this a game.
Dukes DT is getting through like every play. Timmy and Rick should have a solid game vs miami
miami looks pedestrian as fuck
They are routing a 4-0 Duke team and averaging over 10 yards per pass attempt. I'm mostly only keeping up with the play by play but that seems better than pedestrian to me.
"Pedestrian" is right.
Miami didn't do anything special or impressive. Coincidentally, Duke looked way worse than their record would indicate.
Well they did punt backwards so I'd say that was pretty special. Aside from that though, if the TD catch by Berrios was pedestrian I don't know what to tell you. Not to mention Walton's catch and run where he hurdled the Duke player. I'm not saying the U is bak but it seems like nobody wants to give any credit for a win that is unquestionably more impressive than many of ours this season.
Legged both your posts to offset the uncalled for downvotes.
I thought Miami looked pretty good as well, I thought Duke would keep it closer. I didn't think UVA would be able to beat Duke, but that game could be a toss up now.
Duke doesn't look good when they have to pass the ball. If we can stop the run, we can beat them
I was at the Duke game tonight. Miami's QB might give us some trouble. His throws were accurate and he can move. Otherwise, I wasn't very impressed with the hurricanes--or their horrible fans.
I was impressed with Duke's attempt to make night games pretty cool. They even strobed the stadium lights a couple times. I've never seen that before. It's a shame the team came out and laid an egg.
Martinsville Speedway held their first race under their permanent LED lighting last saturday night and they did that right before driver intros. Wasn't expecting it at all and it blew my pants off. I put a video of it up on my instagram for anyone interested (but here's the catch! I'm private. @thatpmartguy)
Stayed up way too late to watch Southern Cal-Wazzu. Was not disappointed. Not to take anything away from Leach and his guys, but USC was almost certainly overrated. And once again the annointed #1 draft pick played subpar. Here's to hoping that was one of several upsets this weekend.
Agreed. USC didn't look all that impressive, and were certainly overrated. They certainly made Wazzu look good.

Darnold looked bad but what a game
UNC avoids the shutout with 5 mins left.
With today's 61-31 loss to USF, ECU is on pace to give up 51 ppg for the season. LaLaff has the FBS record, allowing 50.3 ppg (I'm sure that it's a record that they wouldn't mind relinquishing). The 'rats in Greenville, NC have to really be questioning the school firing Ruffin (he could have been their Frank Beamer, if the administration would have had a pit of patience).
On the upside, if they continue on this path, perhaps VT will cancel the remainder of the contract starting with 2020 (not likely to cancel 2018 or 2019).
Only thing that sucks about that is it kind of makes me feel less good about the offense knowing that we only put up video game numbers largely because of how bad ECU is.
Well, an alternate viewpoint is that both WVU (56 pts vs ECU) and USF (61 pts) are top 20 offenses even if you don't include their numbers vs. ECU. We looked just as good as those two, so we're in good company.
Also, this video gives me funny feelings in my pants. The Curse of Ruffin continues!

Well I guess I don't have to turn on the PSU game. Saquon Barkley is going to win the Heisman.
WF beating FSU 12-3 with under 7 minutes left. Wonder if WF is good this year or FSU missing Francois.
FSU missing more than Francois, from the looks of it.
How about this Wake FSU game? FSU lucky to get that big return to steal any momentum from Wake after that TD.
Tenn getting run out of their own stadium by Georgia.
Will be funny to see UGA fans get all hype only to lose to Baka in the SECCG
UGA has looked really really good so far this year. There might not be too many threats to them left on their schedule. Florida? Auburn? Maybe GT?
Florida's starting QB got knocked out of the game today. I didn't hear how serious it was, who knows what they'll look like against a good team
Done for the season.
Collarbone from the sounds of it. Florida is not very good with or without him. As we are finding out, Tenn. sucks, and they needed every ounce just to beat Kentucky
Don't think it matters much. There was little or no separation between Florida's QB contenders and now they are back to the guy who was the starter after camp.
I'm a 5 star recruit from Virginia that turned down Virginia Tech for Florida State because I want to play for National Championships haha those words for some reason came to me after seeing Wake Forest take the lead.
Yea and to make it worse he's sitting on the sideline watching another guy his age suck up all his snaps.
Wolford reminds me of Brewer. Guts.
FSU and Wake Forest locked in an existential struggle.
Yeah, it gets existential as all get-out down there. Winston-Salem: it'll get after ya.

Butch Jones: good night, sweet prince
So glad to see that score.
One, I picked UGA to beat the spread.
Two, I've never thought Tenn was as good as advertised. Even last year. They only beat us because we gave them 5 fumbles and lucked into I don't know how many wins.
I guess the ACC is better when FSU is doing well but I would've like to have seen WF win that one.
That was huge. 0-4 next would've probably made them give up on the season. Crossing my fingers that perception of them will change in the next two years so they can get tf away from our Va recruits
The FSU Miami game just got more interesting.
I think the streak ends
I think the candycanes are going to get the FSU monkey off their backs this year. That alone will get Richt a contract extension.
I only watched part of the 2nd half but fsu o line can't block
SFU only gained 575 yards against ecu.........sfu sucks.
Congrats hokiegirl! Enjoy those Vols tears.
Can we make LOLFSU a thing? After years of them stealing our recruits it was great to see those 4 and 5 stars have a whole lot of trouble beating WAKE. Nothing would make me happier than seeing them miss a bowl and maybe get hit with some sanctions at the end of the year
