First, lets get the designspeak out of the way
As the only Division I school in the country named the Gators, UF and Nike officials saw a unique opportunity that has been in the works for over two years. This marks the first time in school history that the Florida football team will stray from its traditional Orange and Blue look that is synonymous with its storied program.
Nike Football designers created and delivered a new alternate look for the team (incorporating the Nike Vapor Untouchable Speed uniform) that takes after an alligator's armored body and channels its ability to be a master of camouflage.
So... onto the images. Are you ready for this? I assure you that you are not

They ugly
I don't hate these.
would look great if all orange, #amirite
#ALLORANGEEVERYTHING
Wow, that's hideous. I thought some of our's were bad.
Um. They are. I fact, the garbage we wore vs BC was just fugly.
The helmet is straight fire. Everything else is meh. Could be better could be worse.
Agreed, helmets are nice, the gray is crap and needs more contrast
the lids look good, the rest.... you can keep it.
Oh, and by the way... the uniform is 'swamp green' and not gray or black.
If only their cleats were made by Crocs.
wut?
Steve Irwin's ghost is about to have 57 tackles for loss.
I laughed so hard I woke the baby, leg to you sir
This is by far the best comment I have read in a long time. Wish I could give you more than one leg
They did something similar in 2010 with their pro-combat uniforms but stuck to school colors and reversed it so "gator skin" was an accent on the sleeves, numbers, and pants striping and it worked pretty well if i recall.
Edit: These are a dumpster fire.
Shameless plug.
That was my first thought too. I had to make sure there was a Gator emblem and not a VT logo.
I don't see how anybody that loves our hokie stone jersey would say this is hideous. They are basically the same thing.
Blue and orange together evoke a response of revulsion on sight.
I got you fam. When you think you're twins... But you ain't.

Losing to LSU and now this? Two weeks in a row getting beaten by the ugly stick.
well done nike
It kinda looks like an alligator.
An alligator wearing LuLaRoes, maybe.
Leg for the LuLoRoe comment!
these are nothing more but wannabe Hokie Stone jerseys
I've never envied the blind before. Now I do. Thanks, Florida.
Seriously, if they wanted to accurately represent themselves, Nike would trash the current pants and replace them with jorts.

Now y'all can downvote me all you want, but I'm about to speak the dam truth...these are actually somewhat appealing. Especially like the cleats.
I think they are awesome. Love how they just went totally off script.
I go to school at UF and to say the least there are some mixed reviews from most of the people here. I personally am actually a fan of them, but a few of my buddys think theyre hideous
My first thought about these was the same as when they unveiled the Ninja Decepticon uni's we wore in 2010 vs Boise:
They'll look really cool if they win.
ps: the cleats are fire, full stop. Love 'em.
Yep. I'll make fun of other unis after we get custom cleats from Nike.
I loved those uniforms and I will forever be bitter that we never got to wear them again but UNCheat gets a shitty black and blue version of them
Their helmets should be a picture of McElwain humping that shark
Because Florida's new uniforms don't just jump the shark, they hump the shark!
Funny you should bring up Jim... Found this as I was messing around tonight
What the Gators think of Jim McElwain
We're almost there.

RIP in peace
ASAP as possible

I'm not a fan of abandoning their colors in favor of swamp green.
Maybe they'll look better in person.
I first read that last sentence as, "Maybe they'll look better in prison." Seemed appropriate.
Swamp orange.
At least it seems like Nike is learning and went with plain pants to help tone it down. I think they should have kept the blue jersey and just incorporated the gator print in a darker blue. I think any time your design includes - "will stray from its traditional XXX look that is synonymous with its storied program." - you might want to reconsider. I also like the cleats as a way for them to add something unique to the school without becoming unrecognizable. For a one off jersey though, these are not bad, and are definitely not the worst I have seen this year (looking at you Texas A&M purple cheetahs!).
I thought they would look more like this...
don't mind the helmets. Jersey's are fugly
No Hokie fans can really give these a hard time considering its pretty much exactly the same as our Hokie Stone uni but with gator print in lieu of the stone pattern.
I am/was not a fan of either.
At least the stone pattern was equally weighted throughout wherever it was used, and was primarily for the top only. This.... Phew, this is a bit much.
The stone pattern wasn't "swamp green".
Yep. This was my thought as soon as I saw it. Pan back 10 yards and this looks nearly identical to our Hokie Stone jerseys.
The Hokie stone unis from Skutt's tweet >>> gator print unis. Overall Design is considerably different.
This is ridiculous! They are dressed like gators!! Why in the gosh darn heck would Nike put a BLACK helmet on an alligator??? Everyone knows that alligators heads aren't BLACK. Put the matching gator skin on there with a big old dragon style eyeball and a slightly open gator mouth that goes around the players' head and some mean lookin' nostrils and then draw some teeth on the facemask. Come on Nike! Heck, half the players these days wear those mouth guards with teeth on 'em, I mean, talk about a missed opportunity for some realism here! And alligators aren't fast on land, would have been perfect for that slow moving Gator offense. My 6 year old cousin would have finished this project off better. And where the hell is the gator tail?!?!?!
This is so Florida. You can see a place to hold your cigs, scratch off tickets, and a back pocket for your Four Loko.
Leg up for 'land of the lost' Slee-stak pull.
"Marshall, Will and Holly, on a routine expedition........"
They could just went with a simple grey look with orange and blue. Change the lid solid grey and I think we would be having a different convo
Just thought of this but Gators don't have scales on their bellies right? Like shouldn't they be more smooth on the front vs the back? Have nikes design team seen a gator before?
They've probably only seen the ones playing for Florida. They may well have scales on their bellies.
Alligators have scales on their stomachs/bottom side.
This is the internet. There is no room for facts.
I didn't check the internet for the facts on this one. I've dealt with real, live alligators
They will eat fishing lures which can be fun for a minute and then turns into a cluster
Alrighty then Nike still not a great uniform but at least semi accurate.
I think the fact that the pants and the jerseys are different shades of grey with a black helmet make it look bad. Throw in the random bits of color and it makes it worse. The gator skin cleats are pretty badass though.
Wow, TKP calling the kettle black....
Saw this on reddit this morning, ...straight hideous.
I like it.
There I said it.
Ugly as a mud fence.......
