This is gold. I had to stop watching halfway through at work cause I couldn't hold in the laughing anymore. Painful memories. I think this is the only game that actually got me angry as an adult playing video games.

Ah yes, the rage is real. Best Buy and Lowe's have been the beneficiaries of more than one rage episode for me. But it's been a solid few years since that's happened.

depends, is the injury to a player for UNC* and was it sustained while pitching a hissy fit? If you answered yes to both questions, then there is no reason to feel uncomfortable.
*Other schools can be used here as well, on a case by case basis. For instance, if Grayson Allen, threw out his shoulder while throwing a tantrum on the sideline, you could also laugh without discomfort.

It's a dumb way to hurt yourself. But it's a slippery slope. We've all hurt ourselves in dumb ways but it doesn't make those injuries any better to deal with.
I don't think any lines are being crossed but as a general rule for me, I don't try to poke fun at injuries. Just be above that.

He did it to himself. He did it on purpose. It was the result of a decision he made. Actions have consequences, and not one hair on my body feels bad for him or uncomfortable with this thread.
Had he sustained the injury as a result of bad luck, then sure, I wouldn't be laughing at it. Roy tried to soften the embarrassment by blaming Berry's competitiveness. Well sure, competitiveness is great, but punching a door over a video game is immature. I'm sure he will learn that video games aren't so important after he has to sit out for at least some of this season.
It is not going to end his basketball career, so again, I'm going to get a chuckle every time I see him on the bench this season.

I see where you're coming from, and would point out that in the accompanying photo, Nelson is CLEARLY pointing at UNC and the hilariously lax academic standards that they have, not at the kid who hurt himself punching a wall after losing a video game.
I kinda feel bad for the kid, god knows I've done fucking stupid shit and ended up with serious injuries, but at this point, UNC, their athletic department and fans deserve every bit of shit that flows their way.

Breaking your hand while punching a door while throwing a fit from losing a video game........
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................
....is literally the only injury I'm comfortable laughing at.
Or something like this:

It's a bit funny because of how it happened. I've seen it happen in person, and it's just as funny. I haven't done it myself from a vidya game, but did hurt my hand punching a door frame after the Boise State game.

My rule of thumb is if I would laugh in my friends' face, then I'm okay with ripping it on the internet. I have laughed at my best friend for breaking his hand on the padding behind the basketball goal after a PE volleyball game. I laughed extremely hard, therefore, I will laugh at this comfortably.

There have been many a bad injury sustained on video tape and then placed on a show called America's Funniest Home Videos. At the age 32, if it is on TV, I am glued to it and there are some seriously funny videos on there from people doing dumb shit that's the equivalent of punching a door after a video game. I don't feel bad for laughing at this guy at all.
Also, I have punched a mirror on a door in anger and required 6 stitches. Laugh away, it was stupid.

I can see your point. If we all knew this kid personally then I think almost everyone would laugh at him and call him a few names in jest.
But sitting behind the anonymity of the Internet on a Hokie based website, that while not directly affliated is certainly representational, of Virginia Tech it can come across like we are all a bunch of dicks laughing at the misfortune of a young adult, because we are all may be funnneling our ire at UNCheat on him (at least from the title of OPs post).
Hope he heals up fast.
All that being said, what... a... dumbass. If i was his coach he would run suicides for as long as he wants to play video games in the future. Make him really appreciate the passion he has for them.

I think the sense of outrage at what UNC has just gotten away with is still very strong. For me, UNC represents right now all that is wrong with college athletics. It's difficult, therefore, not to let that slip into a sense of schadenfreude when something like this happens. It's not that anyone wishes misfortune on any individual, but that there's a desire to see the institution suffer.
I see your point, however, and it's a reminder to keep this in it's proper perspective.

Mine has gotten worse as the game mechanics in NHL16/17/18 have progressively gotten worse.
Then again, I mostly play while my wife is asleep on the couch so I stay quiet and I'm poor so I don't actually break anything. Lol just a lot of faces, clenching my fists, and asking inanimate objects why they are doing the things they are doing.

Players start the race with a full beer. The rules are that you cannot finish the race with any beer left, you cannot drink while your kart is in motion and you must pull to the side of the track first.
Rounds 4+ become very entertaining.

At UNCheat that's probably an A in physics (sucessfully testing kinetic energy transfer) and structural engineering (testing the load bearing capabilities of a door).

I think the makers of 2k purposefully put glitches in that game to destroy friendships

what the fuck is that? a video game? were you the one that I said could stay on my lawn? I think you were.
if you weren't, get off my lawn.
Haha yup that was me. It's too late, I just invited all my LAN buddies over to wreck your Wi-Fi while we squad up and pwn n00bs on some Overwatch
I don't know what any of those words mean.
ESPN trolls with the link "UNC's Berry hurt during video game tantrum"
I've always been really impressed with the extension Samir gets before coming down on the printer. I certainly don't have that flexibility.
Ahhh AVGN one of my favorite YouTube personalities
I feel his pain tho, I have definitely punched things while playing FIFA.

Am I the only one uncomfortable with a thread laughing at an injury?
No.

To be fair, he earned 3 credits with the fracture
Both Alum's comment and this reaction gif are solidly 100%.
and a doctorate after going to the ER.
Even Roy called it "Silly" when he announced it
I sure as hell laughed at the dude who punched the wall and broke his hand in Slusher my sophomore year.
Plaster covered concrete/cinderblock...yeah...laugh.

My gaming rage has gone way down since NCAA football stopped being made. Coincidence?

Looks like someone got hit with a blue shell?
Or hit with Lightning over the final jump at Wario Stadium
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Solid Mario Kart 64 reference.
I sure hope that guy who already finished has also finished his beer
What two people use light characters and still find themselves pulling up the rear in the Grand Prix though?
Haven't you played "Don't Drink and Drive"?
Players start the race with a full beer. The rules are that you cannot finish the race with any beer left, you cannot drink while your kart is in motion and you must pull to the side of the track first.

I missed out on a lot by not drinking then. lol
Alternate Names: Kario Mart and Drunk Driving
Loser leaves the sticks
I'm pretty good at Mario Kart...like really really good.
But it's frustrating as hell being in first place
Lightning, lightning, squid, blue shell, red shell, red shell. All on the third lap, of course. It takes a lot of the fun away.
If you think I'm kidding, try me. Hit me up with that friend code and I'll school you a thing or two
Oh you think you've had a bad beat?
I assure you that you haven't
so youre saying he pitched a fit in class?
Have to admit, that was berry stupid.
Come on now. Get a grip.
Punched a door and broke his hand? Sounds like someone's getting an A in his martial arts elective.
