ISU-WVU is personal preference really. If ISU wins, they're still in contention to win the Big 12, which if Iowa State won, would keep that conference from a playoff slot. WVU helps our own SOS. So either outcome can benefit us, which is good, because no fucking way am I ever rooting for WVU.
With the schedule we have, I am inclined to go with the second option, despite how brutally painful it is. But at least we didn't lose to them...
So in short....everyone ranked above us, we're rooting against them...
Except for Bedlam game (result doesn't really matter), Bama Game, Georgia and Clemson
I'm sure as hell rooting against Alabama.
I am ok with the Sooners winning out. That means they knock TCU and Okie St out of our way in the process. We only need to get one of the 4 playoff spots (although all 4 would be epic). We can ride their wagon on in with them!
Need Auburn to steal one from Georgia/Alabama, and Miami to beat ND (after we beat Miami).
Leg for the Breaking Away clip.
I appreciated the UGA fan making it rain mr goodbars.
FTFY
Edit - How could I forget the damned chant
The second half of this season I have been rooting HARD against FSU for this exact reason. (Normally it's just because I find their Indian chant thing they do after every single play really annoying.) Watching the BC game was glorious.
Ugh, the chant... 2 of my 3 sister's went there (3rd is probably going there as well)... Going to Family weekend for 7 straight years was a fuckin headache...
If we WERE to lose to Miami though (don't foresee it happening), wouldn't they clinch the division if Georgia Tech beats UVA? I read that in the other thread. I hate to say this, but I might have to root for the badder of the bad guys to be safe.
I don't want to live in a world where it makes sense to root for LOLUVa.
Yes. Miami would get to 6 conference wins, which means at worst they would end up 6-2, and at best VT would end up 6-2. GT and UVA both currently have two conference losses, so the loser would be out.
Since Miami hasn't played UVA yet, and we haven't played GT or UVA, there can't be more than two teams tied at 6-2 or better at the end of the season. Miami would have the tiebreakers over VT and GT.
If UVA beats GT and Miami beats VT, then Miami doesn't quite clinch, but the only other team that would still be active in the division race would be UVA, who would have to win out while Miami loses out. So UVA would be eliminated with their next loss or Miami's next win.
yeah, screw that. We just need to beat Miami.
Short version for this weekend:
-Miami win + GT win = Miami clinches Coastal
-Miami win + UVA win = everyone but those two are eliminated
-VT win = everyone stays alive (except for UNCheat and Duke, who are already out)
Until we kill them one by one.

I would have a sliver for OOC and against Miami. I hate/loathe Miami far more than UVA.
And you gotta admit, UVA beating the snot out of Miami 48-0 in their final game in the old stadium was pretty funny.
The only time I would root for loluva is if they played against Tennessee. State pride at the lowest level.
Lets just take care of our own bidness so we don't have to think about that, mmmmmkay?
Wouldn't ND beating Wake Forest, VT beating MIA, and then MIA beating ND be the better scenario for VT?
ND is extremely unique in CFB given they are not in the ACC for football, but do play 5 games in the conference, so they influence the ACC strength a lot depending on when and to what team they lose.
Never gonna root for wvu, even if the end of the world was at stake.

I appreciate these summaries each week. Too lazy to do my own research. Cheers.

I'm actually going to go for NC State since if we get to the ACCCG I think they are more manageable. Intangibles are in favor of State since its a home game and I think they know they can beat them since they only lost to Clemson in OT last season. Clemson is obviously the better team but I think they might pull it off.
If Clemson loses again, we won't make the playoff. They must be a top team to solidify our spot. Best case Clemson is in the top 4 and we still have one loss going into the ACCCG.
Not true. We win, we're in.
Actually there are a lot of reasons to think we don't control our own destiny. Right now every undefeated AND 1 loss P5 team is ranked ahead of us. If Bama and UGA don't lose until they face each other, one of them is guaranteed to be in. If OSU and Wisconsin don't lose until facing each other, one of them is guaranteed to be in. If ND wins out, they'll almost certainly get in over us. If any B12 team wins out, they are highly likely to get in over us. At this point I wouldn't be totally confident in a 1 loss Penn State that misses the B1GCG or a PAC 12 Champ Washington not getting in over us.
I think you are definitely right, at this point there are so many scenarios where we could be left out even if win the rest of our games. However, if I have learned anything from watching college football for 10+ years its that upsets are bound to happen and if you survive with one lose at the end of the season good things will happen.
I just wanna beat Clemson
