The only problem with radio over tv, is the radio broadcast is usually ahead. So you know the result of drives before the happen.
For those who listen to the radio while watching our games on TV, is there a good way to get the radio audio and TV video to sync?

The Hokie Xtra app stream was behind the TV coverage last week. You could try using that.
So late the the response here - but I use the TuneIn radio app and listen to WTON 1240 out of Staunton VA. The radio is about 30 seconds behind the tv broadcast, so with Comcast X1, you can pause live tv and allow it to sync up.
Fowler and Herbie are better than most national combos, but I'd go with our guys every time. Plus I kind of enjoy the delay, because you get to hear the awesome events described, so you kind of know something good is going to happen once the TV catches up.

If our defense can play as solid as they have played and not let any big plays bust then I think we take the win. If they give up the big plays might go the other way.
Getting more nervous now as it's getting closer. I think we may need Slye in this game. We can't afford to go for it on 4and 5 from the 20 like we did last week. Again, I'm assuming that was more due to the weather and the score at the time. I say we take all the points we can get.

So get this - I'm on my way to Charlottesville decked out in Hokie gear to set up my tailgate for a game being played in Miami.
Long story short - I'm a VT alum with stepdaughters at VT, and yes, at UVA (I came into her life too late to show her the light - lord knows I tried!). The Wahoo is a senior and my wife and I are going down to "chaperone" the 4th-year fifth (Google it). I said fine, but prepping for the Hokies big game takes precedence, so I'm wearing the O&M proudly.
Any C'ville Hokies in tailgate withdrawal come by have a beverage or brat, and make fun of the drunk Wahoos. We'll be at 1946 Lewis Mtn Road.

For other Hokies like myself that are out of the US, you should check out US TV Now. It is mainly for military and ex-pats, and you can watch without a VPN. The free account has network TV so it has the game on ABC today. One of the local channels on there had the Duke game last week (also free) and it was the best quality stream I've ever gotten in Asia.

The abundance of inexperience on O may contribute, but I don't think early playcalling does us any favors. Like Jackson a lot, think he's solid, but I honestly think he's the QB we need now, not in the future. Lack of serious running threat at QB limits this offense, and it's evident AJ Bush isn't the solution. We have 1.5 reliable receivers currently. Let's play D and hope we can pull this one out.

I might be making this up, but in these big games it seems like we try to be something we're not on offense and it results in us coming out and laying an egg. Whatever you want to say about the defense, 10 points in the 4th quarter was never going to cut it
I came in expecting that Miami would score 20ish points. I had no doubt that we could at least match that. I was wrong.
Our quarterback has done a good job at playing to his ability, but has a very clear ceiling athletically. When we play better teams with better players, the talent gap shows. Our OL, QB, RB, and WR play isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be to contend for a conference championship.
WVU game aside, I completely agree. Our offense did not look like "us" in this game and the Clemson game. Ranted about the same thing to my wife during the game last night. Something was off. Not sure why.
I watched Miami play Duke and FSU. I really don't think they are all that good. I think this is more showing how bad the teams we've played so far have been. We have a lot of growing up to do on offense but the defense is extremely disappointing tonight.

Everybody take a deep breath. Going into the season most of us had this pegged as a loss. We are not a playoff team this year. Offense is too young. We finish strong at GT, vs Pitt and vs LOLUVA and we are 10-2. Not many predicted that at the start.

The D hasn't been awful tonight, but how everyone doesn't abuse us with QB draws all night long is beyond me. We absolutely leave a huge hole in the middle of the field, and Moto is at a complete mismatch in space against anyone with marginal athletic ability.
This has been an exposure game. Coaches have been doing more with less all season, but the two games against teams with top notch talent this year have shown there is no amount of scheming that can hide the talent discrepancy.

Well guys I have been a long time stalker of TKP(check in on game threads and such) but never joined until this week. Thought I might like some emotional support as I don't live anywhere with a strong VT presence. You guys are intelligent and passionate when it comes to Hokie football and I love it. But guys I've been a Hokie since I can remember football having grown up in SWVA. I truly don't know of anything that disappoints me more in this world than watching any game like this one that the Hokies are in. I know some of this is alcohol fueled but very little. We just haven't been able to get it done in a looong time. I love the Hokies. I will die and be buried in something that says Hokies but I don't know when we'll ever or if we'll ever cross to the next level. I hope. I wish. I may have even prayed for it a time or two but I just don't see it. In my opinion to become that team that gets to the next level you have to eventually win these games more than you lose them and to me I feel like we don't.

I'm with you, after the Clemson game and this game, I truly feel like a piece of the "chokies" still resides in this program, and that might take getting a full compliment of Fuente's recruits who don't associate with that big game fail mentality, but if he keeps losing big games like this, it won't be going away anytime soon, this loss hurts because everything was lined up for a major jump in the polls and the inclusion in the CFP talk, now we're just another "young team" that's not ready yet for the big time, and it hurts like hell because I feel like the coaches are what sealed the deal for us.

Look, I'm not gonna lie, I'm as disappointed and/or disgusted as the rest of you. But if you look back at some of the pre-season predictions, 8 wins was the average win total for this team. We all got sucked in because Fuente does a good job with less talent. Hard to dispute 17 wins in 2 years. We are just not there yet. Personally, I think Clemson and Miami just have better athletes. Call it recruiting, call it coaching but we ain't there yet. Give CJF a couple of more years of recruiting and I have faith he can get us there. I also refuse to get into questioning play calls. Disagree with you on both accounts. JJ is a r-Freshman. CornFu doesn't trust him enough yet. This is really more about our offensive line - Miami's run D sucked and we couldn't run the ball. If you become one dimensional against a good team (and Miami is a good team) you will get beat.

4 seniors in the rotation on offensive line. This is actually one of the better o-lines we've had in the past 5 years.
Yet it hasn't really shown in the run game all year. And tonight JJ got killed in the passing game.
I think this is a 2 fold problem. We don't have a tailback. If you have watched the film from this season we have opened lots of holes that the rbs have missed. IMO the bigger problem is the scheme based around RPOs. On any given play our o-line is neither run blocking or pass blocking but a weird middle ground. They can't get after the defensive line and man handle them or aggressively get to the second level because they can't go 5 yards past the line of scrimmage in case it's a pass. I don't know enough about football to know if this can be fixed *paging French*.
What I do know from watching the Hokies the past 25 years is that this o-line isn't bad. Consider how few penalties we've had this year. There were seasons where every drive involved a 1st and 15/20 due to a penalty. We've given up a few sacks but some have been coverage sacks. We are really struggling at wr. If Patterson, Farley, and Turner aren't good to elite then I'm afraid the offense will be worse next year. Savoy doesn't have the quickness to get much separation in the slot and lacks the top end speed to be effective on the outside. Denmark, Kumah, pimp, and grimsley have combined for 15 catches this season with Kumah catching 11.
Miami is not a good team. We can't run the ball because we don't have a great running back, don't have exceptional run blocking, and don't have a running threat at qb to minimize those deficiencies.
We can blame JJ's inexperience all day, but 8 games when you still throw into double and triple coverage, where does the blame lie? Multiple interceptions tonight.

They 'don't trust him enough' to make a throw >12 yards down the field? The only completions he had >15 looked like me playing 500 in the back yard as a kid. I get there were 2 drops in the second half, but the first half and his throws 90% of the game weren't good. We're not going to beat good teams when half our throwing plays are completed within 5 yards of the LOS.
JJ has been decent for us, but has some pretty significant physical limitations, and a low ceiling. We're not going to beat teams like Clemson or Miami with players of the talent level we've currently got.
Players need to get better, coaches need to recruit better.

Usual big game results that we have seen this year: JJ hits his passes, receivers drop a few of them, tailbacks can't break any big runs, o-line doesn't hold well, and the running QB burns us.
That's pretty much the season. Will be less stressful playing GT and Pitt with nothing really on the line the rest of the way. Hopefully we'll be back in the mix again next year, although Miami is only going to get better as well.
