Who to Root For- Week 12 (the real week 12)

Just like at the beginning of the year is all about conference strength, the end of the year is all about Bowl Strength, And the only way VT can have the best Bowl strength (and possibly be in line for the O-Bowl) Is for NC St to lose this week, and Miami and Clemson to make it to the Playoff. Here We go,

12:00
LOLUVa @ Miami: Miami: Bowl Strength, SoS,

Michigan @ Wisconsin: Michigan: Bowl Strength

'member this matchup last year?

ULM @ Auburn: ULM: Bowl Strength, Excuse so I could post a Duck Dynasty gif

3:30
Kentucky @ Georgia: Kentucky: Bowl Strength

Navy @ Notre Dame: Navy HARD: Bowl Strength

7:00
Nc St @ Wake: Wake SUPER DUPER HARD: Bowl Strength,

that feeling when you have to root for Wake Forest and the next week you have to root for North Carolina

UCLA @ USC: UCLA: Bowl Strength

Apparently this is a rivalry?

I've got Wake Forest winning big, but I'm usually wrong about most all of my predictions.

"What kind of person would throw away a perfectly good dog?"

I don't give a shit who wins any of these games except maybe Navy just because fuck Notre Dame

I think we actually want Notre Dame to win out, so they stay in the New Year's Six range and don't drop down to take an ACC bowl spot.

And how exactly does UCLA-USC affect ACC bowl spots?

USC still has a tiny, miniscule chance of making the playoff
And because every time slot needs two games

Technically, neither of the two games you list as 7:00 are actually in that time slot.

UVA wins at Miami this week. Its happening. Why? Because ACC.

It makes too much sense. Sleepy nooner at Miami's shitty NFL stadium. They won't have time to bus in any homeless people to fill the stands, and all the Miami players are going to be hungover from a night of boats, hoes, and shining their turnover chain.

shining their turnover chain.

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

I suppose in this case it could be literal or figurative and still be equally as effective.

leg for making me think through phrasing this morning

that feeling when you have to root for Wake Forest and the next week you have to root for North Carolina

I will never have that feeling, because I will never root for UNC.

^^^^THIS^^^^

Even if there is some strange series of events that allows us to back into the Orange Bowl, we don't want to go. The top of the SEC and Big Ten is stacked with teams that I don't feel comfortable with VT facing at this point.

And since VT isn't even in the top 25 right now, there's too much ground to make up to get into a New Year's Six bowl, without the last two weeks going full 2007 on us.

What we really want is to maximum the ACC bowl revenue, which means having as many teams bowl eligible as possible, and also having them in the highest possible bowls. Therefore, we want Clemson and Miami in the CFP and Orange Bowl, Notre Dame in another NY6 bowl, and a Big Ten team in the Orange Bowl so we get the Citrus.

Meanwhile, we also want to position VT for the best possible bowl, which means keeping all of the other teams at least two wins behind us so we can't be jumped in the selection order.

Currently, Wake, Louisville, and UVA have 6 wins. If we win out, we're at least two games ahead of UVA, so it really doesn't matter if they beat Miami or not (although that would help us in imperialism).

Syracuse, Duke, and Pitt all need two wins to get bowl eligible. However, our other goals (VT winning out) prevent Pitt from going bowling. FSU needs to win three games, but on a selfish level, we don't want them going bowling, so we can get rid of that asterisk about longest bowl streak.

This is how I see our conference rooting interests:
-Syracuse at Louisville -- Syracuse (gets them closer to eligible and pushes Louisville down the list)
-NC State at Wake -- probably Wake, to keep NC State behind us on the list.
-GT at Duke -- Duke (gets them closer)
-BC vs. UConn -- BC (goes bowling)
-UVA at Miami -- let's just say Miami, because it keeps UVA down on the list.
-Pitt at VT -- VT, duh

If this happens, we have:
VT 8-3, NC State 7-4, Wake 7-4, BC 6-5, UVA 6-5, Louisville 6-5, GT 5-5, Duke 5-6, Syracuse 5-6

And then in week 13 (assuming that our rooting interest teams this week win):
-Georgia at GT -- GT
-BC at Syracuse -- Syracuse
-Duke at WF -- Duke
-Louisville at Kentucky -- Louisville (screw the SEC)

The standings would then look like this:
VT 9-3, NC State 8-4 or 7-5, Wake 7-5, Louisville 7-5, BC 6-6, UVA 6-6, Duke 6-6, Syracuse 6-6, GT 6-5

That would allow 11 ACC teams to go bowling, possibly 12 if FSU manages to win out. Pitt and UNC would be staying home. The only team in range to jump us would be NC State, and that would only be if they beat UNC.

Again, even if all that happens, you STILL want Miami and Clemson in the Playoff, that way, we still have a chance of going to the Camping World or Citrus (and, though unlikely, we would still have a chance at O-Bowl) and it also puts the Conference at the top of college football again

No, we just need Clemson and Miami to both be in NY6 bowls. Doesn't really matter which ones. That still keeps VT at the top of the selection pool, which puts them in place for an Orlando bowl.

ensure NC State Loses

Sorry, but I'm going for ultimate chaos for my rooting interests
