Good. I can continue by tradition of avoiding Black Friday craziness by going to the golf course.
Still gotta deal with traffic. True avoidance is drinking all day and never leaving your house.
Time for a 14 hour tailgate!!!
A good team to break our 0-2 losing streak of games that kickoff at 8pm or later.
Full announcement from ACC.
I thought it was down to us or the Miami game to get the 3:30 ABC or 8 PM ESPN game. I guess with nothing left to play for in the ACC, they'd rather have a traditional rivalry game in the primetime spot.
So ESPN wants to destroy my liver this year
got it.
I️ have several friends who go to WVU. WVU has gotten so many noon kickoffs at home this year that I've lost count. Noon kickoffs for college students typically consist of blacking out twice in one day.
Funny... I always assumed new Hokie parents taught their kids how to count based on the running tally of nooners every year.
Technically it's three if you go to bed past 12 a.m. Saturday morning blacked out.
Last time we played UVA in primetime on Black Friday was my favorite win over them since 38-0 bro.
I think we've been beating them since before they even started calling it Black Friday.
Beat LOL UVA
YAYY. THERE WILL BE TAILGATING
Hopefully the only Black aspect of that Friday will be the shopping.
Could see this being deemed "The Black Friday" in VT history if we slip up at Lane North.
I'm more worried about the "black out" aspect with that much tailgating time.
I'm in Richmond for Thanksgiving, but doubt I'll be able to go tailgate considering my mom's condition.... I'll just have to drink at home starting with breakfast and find a way to not lose my mind.
I'm gonna be that guy...We play for the commonwealth cup on Black Friday. The commonwealth clash is the athletic department wide competition between us and LOLUVa (that we won for the first time last year on tie breakers).
Commonwealth Clash Website. Winning 2.5 to 1 currently (DISCLAIMER: the winner is the first to 11 points unless both teams tie at 11, like last year).
First team to 11 will win this year because there are only 21 points. (There is no point for women's soccer this year since we didn't play each other.)
what if we split points due to ties?
VT won the Commonwealth Clash (for the first time) last year via tiebreakers after the total points were split.
Zima sales should go through the roof!
What's the tailgating situation @UVA ?
Fontaine Research Park is usually a good place to hit up, tends to be mostly Hokies. That's where (the few of us going) should be. Its right off the US29 exit on 64. Exit 118b and just follow the signs for the research center.
I think we are also planning to set up at Fontaine. UVA's website says the lot only opens 3hrs before kickoff, do you know if this is enforced or if people just roll in whenever?
Being that the university is on break, I do not remember ever having a problem. If it was a Friday while they were in session it might be more of a thing they enforce. However we don't get there outlandishly early for away games. Probably sometime after noon.
It's not enforced - it's where we have typically tailgated.
It's a fun lot and can vouch for others thinking of joining in that lot.
Not like the loluva types would be able to figure out what's going on anyway.
A tailgate? For a football contest? With lots of people not wearing ties? And beer? Bourbon??? A grill?????? Gasp....What are these shenanigans?
Exactly, and let us not forget that UVA students/fans would rather go to Foxfield Horse Races rather than tailgating for their own football game.
That girl in the bottom right of the screen is like "Yeah....NO"
Not enforced whatsoever. That's where my brother in law and his gaggle of heathens tailgate. Huuuge uva fans, but good people and holy smokes they throw a good tailgate. It's over in the corner of Fontaine near the woods. I'll be over there around noonish probably...they'll be there setting up by around 6-7am.
Is this a public lot that you can just pull up to and pay cash? If so, how much?
If I remember correctly it's free and first come first serve
This has been the case every time we have gone.
Ugh forgot Will be staying with the in-laws over Thanksgiving so I'll probably need to just find somewhere to watch it out of their house to even attempt to stay sane.
In-laws over Thanksgiving you say?
Same.
Already planning an exodus to catch the game at a bar in Williamsburg (recommendations please) instead of watching at the timeshare room.
Paul's Deli should have it and a decent atmosphere. I prefer the one on William and Mary's campus over the one in Newtown, but both should be good.
This is awesome and dangerous all in one. I can see some serious "disagreements" happening at this game between fans after 14 hours of drinking. I'll be there, high wide and handsome and probably be involved in at least at least one disagreement.
Hope VT outnumbers UVA 60/40 in the stands like 2015.
I guess i should get my martini and wine set ready... need to have something ready for me to sober up with after blackout number 1.
Been wanting to go to a UVAvsTECH away game for years and think i might be able to actually go for the first time. Suggestions for parking??
Get there early, and go to the Fontaine Research lot right off of 64. If you can't get in that, then its really a free for all about town. Some decks, and other pay per spot lots.
We usually park at JPJ. Lots of Tech fans, not a terrible walk to the Stadium.
