I learned about the Commonwealth cup twitter when someone said something about them doing the lord's work. I don't twitter, but this Is one of the best things in the world. Pops went to Tech in some of the bad days, and his position is 'make a bowl game and beat UVA, and it's a succesful season'. For me, 10 wins is huge, but beating UVA and keeping the bowl streak alive are everything. I'm superstitious, so The Twitter Makes me nervous, but it makes the win sweeter.

The value of this one to me (other than keeping the streak alive) was that we knew we were a bit hobbled going in, but the defense REALLY stepped up. The offense also did what they needed to do to win. They established a solid running game, and managed to keep some drives alive when they needed to at crucial points in the game.
This UVa team had some really great players. Hats off to our seniors, who NEVER lost to UVa. Their seniors never won vs. VT.
I'm very happy with this win. Ended the regular season with a great record and a lot of optimism for the future.

But I do feel bad for him. Senior Night and he gets ejected for something like that and he is likely out for the bowl game as well. Has to be a crushing way to end your playing career, UVa or not.
To me it looked like he came up shoving and the ref just happened to be the closest body to him.
He came up shoving after trying to hurt McClease. He made the tackle, McClease stood up, Brown reached back out and tried to injury his leg. Brown was a little bitch last night and deserves to be suspended.
I'm not trying to defend his actions. I'm just saying he came up swinging and hit the worst possible person.
Yeah and supposedly they caught him breaking down in tears on the sideline when he realized what happened. I mean yeah it's amusing that it happened to a Hoo, but I'd feel a lot better about it if it didn't effectively end his career.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. He did something stupid, just like Dadi did. He shouldn't get special treatment just because it may be the last game of his career.
I didn't say I disagreed with the call... Just felt bad for him that his career might end that way. Doesn't mean he should be treated differently.

The way the Hoos are recruiting, this was their best chance to break the streak for the next 3 years, minimum. We are getting seriously close to a reality where incoming freshman at that school haven't been alive to see them beat us.

Just got back from Charlottesville. Had an absolute blast. Great Tech turnout as always. Fontaine was completely taken over by Hokies. So proud of these guys. I proudly wore my Tech jersey to Bodo's Bagels in the heart of 'Hoo-ville this morning. Go Hokies!!!

Can't take full credit for this one since I downloaded it back in 2012 I think. Still a classic so I updated for this year.
While helping set up the Christmas decorations I reached into the bag of M&M's and the colors I picked up were only orange and blue randomly...I cracked a slight grin on my face and devoured the M&M's. Now I know how it feels to be Bud's defense versus UVA offense.
Here is as good a place as any. While watching the game, I had the ESPN gamecast up on my computer for another game, and on the side where they have the ESPN commentators type their thoughts, I read something that upset me a little. I wish I could find it again, but paraphrasing it was something like:
Virginia Tech is so single-minded that they don't want to lose this game ever. It's this single-mindedness that will keep them from ever competing for a National Championship.
That makes no sense whatsoever.
Right, because losing to unranked UVA the last weekend of the regular season is so conducive to playing for natties?
