I popped in there last night for a few minutes. Dumpster fire. The trolling was even sad!
14 in a row, SWEET!
The win Ensures a great Saturday of Christmas decorating. π³
I lived in Cville for a short time. Started to feel "soft" so I moved to save myself.
Their site is so fucking shitty
I cannot bring myself to use this 20 year old listserver stuff.
It's like the site was designed in 2003 or something.
Mid 90s... They're using the same basic format that Will Stewart put together back in '98(?) for what used to be known as HokieCentral, which became TSL. Sportswar is run by the TSL guys, so it's not inaccurate to say Hokies literally own that site and the behind the scenes coding that runs it.
They tried going to a modern forum style a few years ago, using vBulletin - even trying to cater to users of both formats by allowing people to pick between linear or nested, but a lot of the site old timers couldn't figure out the new format and complained / stopped visiting - so they switched back. I don't think they were ready for the drop in page views from changing from a 1-post per page format to 30-50 posts per page format either...
Other than the obvious total rehaul of the entire interface, the only quick thing that would make it so much easier to read would be maybe a pop up window that brings up the whole comment when you hover you cursor over a comment. Having to click on each one is barbaric. Unless I just don't know how to use it properly...
Wow! All the talk about firing their OC! Sometimes the opposing D just plays better than you. It cracks me up how many people forget the other team has a say in the outcome of a game!
Complete lack of understanding. In the games that they won/played better than expected (BSU, GT & daU), benkurt was on fire with the deep ball. Last night they had 1 dropped pass, a no call blatant hold on the 51 yd pass (over 1/4 of their O in 1 play) and a bunch of not even close deep balls (in part cuz our pass rush was bludgeoning benkurt). They think it was all about play calling, but in reality is that team is only as good as their qb, in any given game and VT forced a bad benkurt last night.
To be fair, there were plenty of VT fans critical of our OC after the Miami and GT losses.
There were a few critical of our DC as well. Don't see much from them today.
This seems kinda ironic lol.
Yep.
Three things that stick out to me after perusing the first page of The Sabre:
1. When Bennett has a game where he is methodical on offense and his defense causes a team to shoot 21%, it's brilliant gameplay. When Fuente and Foster do it to them, both offenses suck and it's an embarrassment on both our houses.
2. They were much more level headed today about their strengths and weaknesses. They think they are a transfer QB away from 7-8 wins.
3. With a new AD coming in and their collective lukewarm response to Bronco, he should get out of town this year if he can. If he wins 2-6 games next year, they can't extend him and will be forced to lame duck or fire him. I expect their next coach could be Mike Bobo.
They are having a stroke about this JUCO that may commit to them. If they get him, of course that will instantly make them better than us, according to them. What doesn't make sense is QB play was one of their strengths this year.
This sort of news will make the football festival a grand event for all!

I'm amused so many think the gap is closing. With what recruiting are they closing any gap right now? If anything, the gap last night was the narrowest it was going to be the next 3-4 years, and that's assuming they can figure that recruiting thing out next year. Their current roster sucks outside of the few legitimate star recruits they brought in with London who are seniors now, and their recruiting class this year isn't helping at all. You cant win at this level with a recruiting class that is made up with a bulk 2* and low 3* players.
I'm kind of expecting us to throttle the everliving hell out of them the next few years. The talent gap is going to be that wide.
They have no appreciation for the shitstorm of terror we are about to unleash on the ACC.
Funny link....a uva version of French. Just like everything about uva football their French is delusional.
Talks about how all of their 2 star offensive line recruits are going to be great. Maybe 1 was missed by other schools but there is a reason most were 2*
Not French French OL review
It's like bizarro jerry in Seinfeld!
To be fair, they cut the deficit from 51-10 last year to 10-0 this year. Jus' sayin'.
While it's true we put up 5x the points last year as we did this year, they put up infinityX points last year as they did this year. Their year to year comparison can only be calculated by Sam Rogers.
Current mood...and yeah I'm hungover and I don't even care.
Good thing we gave JJ the starting nod over Benkert last night
