In the big scheme of things, does it really matter what a journalist writes about the team we root for? There will always be people who, for whatever reason, will not like VT. Journalists are not exempt from this and the sooner we come to that realization, the better.

Dear Mama Giraffe,
I will keep this short. I respect that you are a woman in a man's world. I respect that you are doing something that even a decade ago wouldn't have been possible to do. However, please learn more about football. At the very least you should have someone you know who understands football review EVERYTHING you say before you say it.
Let me use an example that epitomizes everything that is wrong with your "reporting":
A few things here.
1) You are in Doucheville. Never go. They don't even have a real football team, and the 3 fans that go to football games are as uninformed as you.
2) You see you standing there with that microphone? This is ALL WRONG. The biggest problem is you are interviewing Mike "Crybaby" London. Please refer to point one regarding LOLUVA fans. No one cares what he has to say. The second problem is that even if you were to interview Crybaby London you have the microphone in completely the wrong position. Everyone knows he talks out of his ass.
3) If you want to be taken seriously then you need to ask the hard questions, not just link to Andy Bitter's articles who is doing the job for you.
Please take these things into consideration as I honestly believe if you follow them it will help you in your career. I want to respect your work but until you learn basic, elementary reporting rules such as above it will never happen.
In summary:
1) LOLUVA does not require reporting because no one cares.
2) Miami is not "back" every year. You have been wrong too many times. It's better to stop saying it.
3) Your love affair with Clemson and Paul Johnson are too obvious. Try to be impartial and report things that matter.

I get this is satirical and you're jabbing at UVA, but why on earth would an ACC analyst not cover the entire ACC. Consider me unimpressed by the suggestion that an ACC blogger shouldn't report on UVA and their head coach Mike London.

She's also a Big Ten grad. Indiana, I think, not Northwestern, so forget about actual journalism. I stopped reading her a year or so ago. ESPN has nothing for me anymore. I think this is the way it is with most ACC fans:
ESPN doesn't think the ACC brings clicks and cash -> ESPN appoints HD -> Fans read ACC blog -> Realize there's nothing there -> Fans stop reading ACC blog -> ESPN realizes the ACC

Look I understand she deserves criticism for her articles yes they aren't good and no she doesn't give VT respect that we deserve, but let's be honest here guys as a team we kind of done that to ourselves. We lost those big games not HD, we played bad last year, not HD. So, she's just going off of what we've done and how we've played and deservedly so she has a point. We haven't been consistent as a team over the past few years and our record shows that against top ranked teams. So I can understand where she's coming from I'm a Hokie fan not delusional. I have to take the good with the good and the bad with the bad, but I'm still going to ride with my team. I normally stop by ESPN to read if they have anything interesting on there front page or even if the ACC blogger including HD's. I mean its not like Bleacher Report or HD are forcing anyone to read their articles.
I personally enjoy not being in the news this year like some of those National Contenders like Bama who steals all the National headlines, because when we continue playing how we played last week they won't see us coming and that's fine with me. I say if we don't like how they are writing about us let's give them something to write about and the only way to do that is to keep winning. It's cause ESPN loudly and constantly worships the SEC, even when they don't have a great product. TSL wrote a really good article about it here (Subscribers only, sorry) which detailed the level of unfairness involved in ESPN's treatment of the SEC vs other conferences. For example, look at this weekend's slate. #25 Maryland vs #8 FSU? Noon game on ESPN. Here are the primetime games (also from that TSL article):
7pm, ESPN: #10 LSU at Mississippi State
7pm, ESPN2: Arkansas at #18 Florida
7pm, ESPNU: #24 Ole Miss at Auburn
Recruits see that and think that if they play in the SEC, regardless of which team, they'll be on primetime TV. It's a distinctly unfair recruiting advantage.

This neck stuff got started on a ESPN blog and it has gotten personal with jokes about her and even her family I don't understand why what this women writes has anything to do with the way she looks, or how this affects us as a fanbase? This isn't the first time that we have been looked down upon by a sports writer or a columnist and it won't be the last. Some of us needs to grow up on here seriously.

I'm pretty sure I agreed with you that personal attacks are wrong. I think most of the stuff people are commenting on is the lack of journalism in place of opinion in her articles. I think its great that you are standing up for something and trying to keep it classy but do you take the same offense to the silly and immature Weaver memes and nicknames? Or the Newsome ones? While I think there are some mean spirited attacks, I believe most of the community is doing so in good fun. We can obviously agree to disagree here.
Also it IS the internet and the great thing and the crappy thing is that people CAN post whatever they want. That doesn't make it right or wrong though. I think its great that you are standing up for something since that's what makes this community what it is.
