Leading up to Black Friday's battle for The Commonwealth Cup, I was concerned the Hokies' banged up defense would be a liability against Virginia, in turn jeopardizing Tech's 13-game winning streak. I made peace with the possibility that for the first time in 14 years Tech might actually lose to UVA. Down several starters, I don't think anyone expected the dominant performance Bud Foster's crew put on display. Tech allowed 5 rushing yards; notched 4 sacks; earned 1 giant donut.
To quote Justin Fuente, "Last time I checked, if the other team can't score, they can't win."
It's another in a long line of sensational defensive outings orchestrated by Bud Foster.
A special tip of the cap to VT defensive coordinator @coachfostervt. The Hokies' defense held UVA to under 300 yards for the 12th time in 14 wins in this streak. UVA finished with just 191 yardsβ Jimmy Robertson (@jrobIHS) November 25, 2017
The Lunch Pail Defense's performance against the Wahoos needs to be properly memorialized. Press play and watch Kurt Benkert's life flash before his eyes.

Why you have to bring up that made up internet joke?
This was uncalled for
Found my new signature π©
How many people clicked the first picture trying to get it to play.......just me? Ok then.
Nope. Me too. π€«
I didn't.
(this time...fool me thrice...)
Man, how important was getting Walker and Settle to come to VT?!!!!
Lunch pail defined.
Carol Lee and Bud Foster are teaming up to release their new offering, the "Wahoo Tears" donut. It's a french cake donut flavored with salted caramel and covered in a White Flag glaze. Available "stuffed" or "gutless".
Says Coach Foster, "I've been making these special since I arrived in Blacksburg and I can't get enough of 'em. They're delicious."
Carol Lee is selling them in rows of 14 or so with plans to increase the number of donuts year-to-year.
Oh man, the Yelp reviews on this /chef kisses fingers
That would be the best Christmas present EVER!!!
14 = a Hokies Dozen...for the next ~360 days at least.
Word is they're packing record amounts of fudge in these
Fun fact: Virginia Tech has only allowed three touchdowns against UVA in Charlottesville since 2009.
2009: 42-13, one touchdown
2011: 38-0, bro, no touchdowns
2013: 16-6, no touchdowns
2015: 23-20, two touchdowns
2017: 10-0, no touchdowns
This is awesome
It was this gif with Bud Foster's face overtop, but it went haywire and 404.
I see the 404 Error message. Was this a gif showing UVA's red zone possessions on Friday?
Oh that's the screencapture of the Facebook Memories pages where UVa fans are reminded of their comments after the last football win over VT
L00000000000000ve this!
what movie is this, please?
It's now a VT family heirlπ©π©m.
9" per rush.
Hey every inch matters.
That sounds like wahoo talk...
You gotta earn every inch.
That's what she said...fully dipped
Offense was pathetic, but Foster really delivered this game!
I talk about it in my film review, but Foster never gets enough credit for how well prepared his teams are for opposing schemes. At least three times I saw Ricky Walker popping up out of his stance and stemming over a gap right into where the ball was going. I note in my review how on first down, the safeties were reading their keys so well that when UVA passed (even with play action) the safeties were immediately dropping into coverage, and on running plays (same down and distance) were crashing into the box like the run wasn't even a possibility. Foster absolutely had Anae by the scruff of the neck the hole game, and his players were incredibly well prepared.
I remember after last years game Foster said that LOLUVA had some tells giving away run or pass, apparently they still do
But I thought Foster always got a pass........./s (as if that's needed)
and i get that!
I read, "had Anae by the scruff of the neck the hole game" and I giggled 'cause you said HOLE. Then I thought, wow, this could be read differently on so many levels! Deep, man.
This video is among the best things in life.
Glorious!
Go Wahπ©π©s!
You need to add another dozen donuts to get it right.
Or maybe make the chain itself out of interwoven donuts.
Am I the only one who thought they were getting a lot of running yards on that video to end up with only 5?
If you remove the sacks of Benkert, they gained 20 yds on 16 carries.
And how many donuts can you fit in a sack?
A Benkert's dozen
Am I the only one who just calls him "Bunky"?
Absolute gold πππΌππΌππΌ
Was it me and my apparent O&M glasses or did the announcers have a definite hard on for Bronco's "multiple" defensive looks? I swear thats all I heard about for much of the game. Maybe they were giving Foster's unit their due and I'm just immune to it by now? Those dudes just really came off "OJ" to me as overly pro Bronco.
In that 1st play, Zaccheaus, who is likely LOLUVA's fastest player, gets run down by a LB. Yeah, it's an AA LB, but a LB just the same.
Fill the lunch pail with donuts. We're gonna need a bigger lunch pail.
