Earlier today on one of the ESPN shows they were discussing college coaches and their coaching tree. What assistants and head coaches have coached under certain head coaches. Well that got me looking for a list online of the coaches who have worked under Frank Beamer. Since I couldn't find a full list I knew with all the knowledge here on TKP we could make one. So if you can find a coach who worked under Beamer and where they currently work, post it please.

Frank doesn't have the coaching tree that many HOF coaches do, but here's what comes to mind:
There's two reasons why Frank doesn't have an extensive coaching:

You forgot Kevin Rogers as QB coach (was at Cuse before Tech, then went to NFL Vikes, the back to NCAA at BC). Also, isn't Cornell Brown at Marshall. And Torian Gray was at Florida before going to the Skins.
Jeff Grimes is reportedly leaving LSU to be the OC at BYU. I know he wasn't under Beamer for long but it's not a bad look for your coaching "tree" to have one of your former position coaches move up to a coordinator.

Eugene Chung has been an Assistant OL coach in the NFL since 2010. Currently with the Eagles.
Also, Ron Zook was a Beamer assistant on the '87 team.
James Miller (offensive guard) was a team mate of Vincent Fuller, worked as a grad assistant in 2006-8 years, and is the head football coach at Reinhardt University.

There are tons of people who were Graduate Assistants that are out coaching.
The internet seems to be really lacking in information on the coaching staffs. It would almost require someone to have saved a game program from each year listing the people.
What defines a 'coaching tree' ? Is it just that they worked here when Beamer was HCFB? Some of these names don't seem to fit to me.
I guess I always thought/pictured it as somehow if you were from the VT/Beamer 'coaching tree' you picked up some of the Beamer Way and promdoted/advanced the philosophies that HCFB believed in.

I don't know if it's a standard, but I always felt a coach's tree consisted of assistants who made their bones coaching under the Big Whistle's tutelage and guidance. Guys like Jeff Grimes, Stacy Searels, Scot Loeffler, and Kevin Rogers got their tutelage and made their bones before they ever worked for Frank Beamer, so I wouldn't consider them to be on the Frank Beamer tree.
Phil Elmassian was a journeyman... the guy coached under 8 other coaches (at least) before working for Beamer for two seasons and then went on to 10 other schools (at least) before hanging it up 3 years ago. I couldn't tell you whose tree he's on, but it ain't Frank's.
Frank's tree would consist of guys like Bustle, Foster, and Steve Marshall (who coached with Beamer for 8 years, going back to Murray State). Torrian Gray started coaching under Foster, under Beamer, and likely belongs on the tree as well, along with Bryan Stinespring, who spent his entire career with Beamer until Beamer retired. You could probably extend Beamer's tree to include a bunch of assistants who began their careers with Beamer and then moved on, but I honestly wouldn't include Shane Beamer as Frank insisted he go to work for other coaches before coming back to Blacksburg.
Actually, I would suggest that perhaps Shane is the exception to the "rule" you describe. Although Shane's first coaching gigs were elsewhere, I think it's pretty safe to say that 90% or more of Shane's football knowledge and wisdom came directly from Frank. If growing up in a man's house, playing on his team, working several years for him and sharing 50% of his DNA does not make you make you part of a coach's "tree", then I don't know what does.
Perhaps, but only if you are referring specifically to his capacity as a special teams coach. His dad was a special teams guru and Shane was a long-snapper when he played for his dad, but literally every time he was a position coach (other than his sting as RB coach at VT) he was learning from another coach.
He currently serves as TE and ST coach at Georgia, so as a ST coach, I agree... he's from the Beamer tree.
Really I was referring to his overall knowledge of the sport of football and coaching philosophies in all facets of the game. Position specific drills and techniques he'd use as an RB coach or any other position coach, are IMHO a much smaller part of the job than bigger picture responsibilities like leading and teaching young men, motivating players in practice or on game day, selling recruits and their families on your vision and your program. He almost certainly learned just about everything he knows about the game from his dad.

Brent Pry, Penn State's Defensive Coordinator served as a GA for Bud/Frank back in 1995-98. The Hokies were the first D-1 program on his long and winding coaching resume.
I think the entire tree includes players under Frank, GA'S, assistant coaches no matter their length either at Tech or Murray State. Each is a branch of the tree.

Ben Taylor is a linebackers coach for the Shenandoah University football team.
EDIT: It looks like they have him listed as the wide recievers coach. Don't know why, always heard he was the LB coach.
A couple more years bouncing around and learning, then come home to the good guys.
