Ah! Remember when?
Absolutely remember that. I was at a hockey game but found a TV to watch that game instead, haha.
Personally, I feel that the whopping he received at the hands of Beamer was the start of his downward spiral to unemployment.
I seem to remember him NOT shaking Beams' hand after that Peach Bowl. Regardless, he's always seemed to be a jerk.
Yea, it was a complete diss. I think Kiffin sort of touched Beamer's hand, did not make eye contact, and walked away. My whole family was watching the game together, and all of us saw the same thing but none of us could believe it. Frank is a legend. Kiffin is scum, and he showed why.
I also remember Kiffin wearing a shirt that was 3 sizes too big that game. He looked ridiculous.
I remember him speaking so well of Beamer's defense in the pregame interview, that it was sickening. "How do you guys get so many interceptions." Then he doesn't shake his hand at the end of the game. He's a punk. No class.
Will be interesting to see who they go after.
I'd say it'll be an older guy. And if Mack Brown doesn't make it out of this season then him. And there is 0% chance that Gruden's name isn't mentioned at some point.
Steve Sarkisian maybe?
Al Golden, Kirby Smart, Sarkesian, Kevin Sumlin.
Its a toss up between Bill Cowher and Derek Dooley maybe Bo Pelini?
I hear Mac Brown might be available...
Bwahahahahahahahaha +1 for a great joke. It's even better because out here in Texas the only people that like him are Oklahoma fans.
He got fired on the plane ride back too.
I just now saw the score of that game. I question the strategy of firing him now. He clearly is not the coach they need, but getting one more recruiting class out of him would have been a good idea. Now, who knows which direction they go in. HokiesFTW mentioned Sarkisian, which is a good call, but I don't think Sark will bail on a Washington team that he appears to be coaching up pretty well, especially with the talent he currently has.
They need someone to revive that program, but let's not get ahead of ourselves thinking that the next coach will bring back the glory days of Pete Carroll. That guy was a special coach and there are few guys out there in the world that could do replicate that.
Cam Cameron, anyone?
Chad Morris anyone?
yea, I see them going after Cam Cameron or Chad Morris as said above. Just because USC has traditionally run a west coast/pro system though I'd give the nod to Cam Cameron (even though he only has had what, 5 games as OC in cfb so far?). But he is the 'hot ticket' coach right now and is flashy enough to get USCs attention
Really? Yes yes yes! I hate him because of Tennessee. I remember him not even looking at Beamer when he shook his hand after the game. And then the death threats when he left Knoxville....
I don't care who gets the job as long as it's not Foster.
Agreed.
My first thought, especially since this could end up being a statistical season that catapults him back to the fore front of "hot" coaches.
I think that doesn't have the personality for USCw though. Too honest/blunt for that part of the country. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
I agree, he doesn't have the mindset for USC.
We love him for his lunch pail and his blunt manner.
They'd hate him for it.
And everywhere vol fans are elated at kiffins failure....
As far as I know, Jack del Rio is at the forefront for the job, pending he'd be willing to give up his DC position at Denver in what could be a super bowl contention type of year...
Premature, but let's be honest, USC isn't going anywhere soon. The shift in the PAC12 is great, now instead of one school getting ALL the premiere west coast athletes, 6-8 schools have legitimate shots of getting the recruits.
sarcasticfont> Real question: Does this mean USC wanted to hire Saban before Texas could? /sarcasticfont>
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to take this job. It is SO EASY to recruit players to come to USC. No matter how good the rest of the Pac 12 gets, USC will always be the school to play football at on the west coast. There's just no denying that.
In regards to Foster, I'd give it a 0.01% chance of him going there. While he may be the best DC in the country, USC always goes for the "sexy" coaches and he is just not one of them. I also think that if/when he leaves, it will be to some team on the east coast.
I think firing your coach mid season is a stupid idea. All the big names have a job and probably won't leave until the end of the season. So they will either pick up an average coach which they don't want or just designate an interim which probably won't be an improvement. You might as well just stuck it out and not proclaim your season over at week 5.
I tend to agree, but from what I have seen, I think Kiffin is the kind of guy that you get rid of midseason. He never struck me as a great coach, more of just a hot head. USCw did the right thing, but given the preference, I would also wait until the end of the season.
Gives more time to raise money for a replacement.
They'll probably just play out with an interim and then they go in with everyone knowing they need a coach so they'll get first pick and considering its USC, shouldn't be hard to find someone willing to go there.
Kiffin is a jerk, but his wife sure is hot!

Tried to include picture but don't know how. Google Layla Kiffin...you'll be glad you did!
I did, and I am. Thank you for bringing my attention to this urgent matter.
Why does the conversation always have to devolve into "But how hot is his wife/girlfriend/sister/daughter/mother?" *eye roll*
Don't act like you wouldn't do the same thing if there were enough girls on this site to talk about the guys you like :)
And yes, Layla kiffin is very attractive. I'm upset she's married to that scumbag
I'm pretty sure Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't play American football :P
But seriously, it gets a little old
Regardless, Turkey leg for Cumberbatch cuz he's the freaking man
HER NAME IS LAYLA
EDIT: The conversation devolves to that point only under one of two circumstances 1. We're playing against him and have covered everything else (McCarron) or B. The guy isn't worth the brainpower to discuss, so check the WAGS to see if there's a story there. This is really all part of being thorough amateur investigative journalists.
sorry this has to be posted
I was totally waiting for it
#LaneKiffin4UVA? #LaneKiffin4UVA
NO!!!!
TimeCop is too valuable! As good as Kiffin is at being just below average, he has NOTHING on the clock management/dancing/crying skills as Coach TimeCop. If you told me you were rooting for Al "The Fightin' Fannypack" Groh to be replaced too, then I may have to remind you of a certain saying about looking a gift horse in the mouth, my kind Hokie friend.
I've got to disagree with Kiffin being "just below average." USC had and still has a remarkably talented roster both on offense and defense. Just below average for that amount of talent should still be a 9 MAYBE 8 win season. I understand your point on the clock management, though.
ESPN and SI both saying that Defensive Line Coach, and former Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron will be the interim HC
WHAT?! THEY PROMISED ME THAT JOB!
I calle this early when USCw was ranked preseason and we weren't. They had more holes, a worse prior year record, and unproven coach. Couldn't happen to a bigger DB.
