When I was at my Cousins house in Minnesota over the break, my Uncle pulled out an old board game that my Grandpa used to have called Foto Football. The version he had was made in 1956. Nevertheless me and my cousins played it every day for the rest of break.
It functions as a video-gameless Madden. Each player picks a play and places it on a projector inside the game board, then you slowly pull out a tab above the projector, and a line is shown, revealing the path the player ran and if the line hits a dot, he is down there. It can get really complicated and interesting when it comes down to strategy and the different ways you can score
Was wondering if anyone has played this game before, as I had never heard of it before last week?
I suggest you go to 4 minutes in the video to avoid analyzing of box quality
Now that I have played both Electric Football and this, I can say without a doubt that this is better and would LOVE to see an updated version of the game

I think my friend (or his dad) had an slightly updated version of this in the mid seventies. The concept was the same - there was an offensive play and a defensive film that was slowly revealed. I don't remember a light source but i was pretty young when we "attempted" to play it. Glad to know the name of it finally. It could be a cool concept to be redeveloped into a modern game.
There was a version that came out in 1977 that had transparent Defensive plays and it did not require electricity

I just bought this version of the game yesterday on ebay and am really excited to see it
This is the version I remember playing a few times a kid.
Holy shit my dad had this as a kid, I used to play it when we'd go down to my grandparents' for Thanksgiving
That's awesome, adding it to my amazon wishlist.
I had a game in the 80's that was fairly similar. NFL Strategy
My brother and I used to play that and Strat-o-matic baseball all the time.
I'll bet more people would gather around this and watch than UVA had fans at their spring game.
No, I never played that, but I did have this growing up:
My Dad had that in the office and I never really understood it. It was confusing as to actual plays, as in there were not any
There were only 2 offensive plays - run or pass and then run.
Thats also what Star Lord uses as a scanning device in Guardians 2
My grandparents had this game at their house, although I don't believe we ever played it.
Used to play this with my grandpa, dad, and uncle all the time. We would have our own "playoffs" when I was little.
Man I have never seen any of these before and I am old as shit. I had this:
WTF? There are 2 kickers on the field. That's illegal!
