MV7 Winding Down?

To start with, when it comes to NFL teams, I'm basically a fan of Hokies that are in the NFL and pretty much in starting positions. None moreso than the only qb in Tech history to take them to the championship game than MV7. Obviously I feel disappointed with the way he (and his team) have been performing (1-3).

I understand that most folks on here have their own teams they align themselves with. My question, after this game, is this the beginning of the decline of MV7 as a starter or will it be after this season? Thoughts, reflections, reactions, etc.

Wow, didn't realize MV7 had lost that many Hokie fans.

DFWTF...DON'T FUCK WITH THE FULLERS

Doesn't help that his O-line is garbage either. I'm sure many teams would love to have him if Philly doesn't. Jags could use any help they can get...

I will always love Mike...He is a the man. I think that it is getting to be near the end of his time though. He still can play really well though so don't count him out yet. He lit up the skins...granted the skins are pathetic.

Sean

MV7 has a few years left. Might be the decline but he can still move, and still has one of the most beautiful throwing motions I've ever seen. I think he'll get hurt and have to leave before he stops wanting to play.

Well let's give a quick rundown: he signed a 1 yr contract, Coach Kelly was clearly in favor of starting Foles, if they don't go deep in the playoffs that'll probably be it for him in Philly (as a starter).

If Kelly was in favor of starting Foles why didn't/doesn't he? That doesn't make sense. I have never heard him (Kelly) say that MV7 didn't earn the starting job.

#Let's Go - Hokies

I don't think he was in favor of starting Foles. Kelly announced from the get-go that it was an open competition at QB, and Vick was named the starter in the middle of preseason.

It's hard to blame him when your defense is that bad.

Rip his freaking head off!

Beginning of the decline? He hasn't been good since....you know....pre-prison.

He was really good in 2010.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Thought this was pretty cool. Check out who's 90th in rushing All-Time. That doesn't sound incredible impressive until you start looking down the list and realize that there are some legitimately good backs behind him.

I don't think he is on the decline, but I really wonder how sustainable Kelly's offense is in the NFL. I am an open Redskins fan, so I want to point out that I am being as unbiased as possible. When I heard Kelly was going to the eagle's I was truly hoping to see if his offense could take the pounding that the NFL puts on the players. Oregon only plays 14 games maximum and some of them are against far inferior opponents. In the NFL you have 16 minimum and 20 maximum, and the difference between the best and the worst team in the NFL is not nearly as large as the difference between 1 and 25 in the NCAA. I wish them luck but I just don't see it lasting, but I don't put that on MV7. I think he has got a few more years.

MV7 has the 14th highest QB rating in the NFL right now. No barn burner but much better than many of his counterparts. He isn't the problem for the Eagles nearly as much as that atrocious lack of defense, and even to be fair to the Eagle D, Peyton is torching everyone this year.

Vick had his worst game by far against the Chiefs. He threw two picks, fumbled at least once and was all around bad in that game.

He is also averaging over 50 yards rushing a game.

if he had a work ethic that matched his natural ability, he'd probably have a couple of rings on his finger by now.

I stopped caring about Vick after he left us early. Could you imagine what that 2001 team could have done with Vick instead of Grant Noel? We maybe would have lost to Miami, and that's about it.

What's Important Now

No joke. That season ends completely differently with him still around

Did you not see that game? We almost sent it to overtime WITH Grant Noel.

I was at that game. It was a very depressing game until Wilford caught the ball. Then it was a moment of ecstasy followed immediately by another moment of depression.

That depression - ecstasy - depression pattern occurs far too often at Virginia Tech sporting events. It's going to cause a heart attack one day.

I've seen my fair share of ecstasy - depression - ecstasy patterns in my time too. It went on for a long while during the 2nd half and OT against Marshall.

As an Eagles fan (probably the nicest one you'll ever meet) and Hokie fan, I was probably the only combination of the two happy when they signed him a few years back. 2010 for me was an unexpected renaissance of his career and he is the reason I became a football fan, but even I have to admit he appears to be on a steady decline since then. He's put up good numbers and cut down on the turnovers so far this year but his receivers haven't been helping him out much, especially in key situations. It's so frustrating to me knowing his past that he likely won't get a ring as a player.

Age catches up to everyone.

I would venture that if he had been encouraged to evolve his game while in Atlanta, he might have lasted a little longer by playing smarter (think P. Manning now, and Jordan in the last three-peat).

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Every time I see this thread come up, I misread it as MD7, and think "Well, no shit...."
