Well, glad thats settled. Ready for the game.

You sir said it all. Turkey leg for you! ;)

Story from Andy Bitter can be found HERE

I'm here for the memes, I just stay for the football.

I was about to say I'll wait for Bitter to confirm.

Yeah, I had to go searching. Using Bleacher Report as a source on a sports story is like crediting Wikipedia on a research paper.

Yeah, sorry, I just got the update from their teamstream app on my phone. Didn't have time to read the article because I was in class. So I didn't see the original source if that was Bitter, which it most likely was.

EDIT: Bleacher got the info from @HokiesJournal on Twitter.

This is why we trust in Bud and Torrian. They've got it together.

Hokies.

Again, trust the coaches. Once Exum sheds the rust, he'll likely be the starter.

GO HOKIES, OBLITERATE THE HEELS!

Although I respect your opinion, and will defend ur right to have it...I do not agree with you haha.. Exum doesn't start over facyson this year..unless facyson gets hurt or starts getting burned repeatedly. It's a bad injury and facyson is playing better than all the defensive backs except Kyle ..yes even better than Kendall. Blasphemy! Just because a guy was ur best defensive player last year (debateable).. Doesn't mean after his serious KNEE injury ( hes a cornerback, a healthy knee is kind of important) he deserves a spot even when he hasn't played a down of football in a game situation in what 10 months. Has exum been tearing it up in practice or something? Because I don't know if he is.. Because maybe.. Maybe we can talk if he's doing really well, about replacing facyson. But I don't think you do that to a kid(especially a freshman) that could arguably be one of the main reasons we have 4 wins.

I agree with some of your points. I think it should be based on who is performing better in practice as well as in games. I'm not sure if I would say that Facyson is a better corner right now than the two Fullers, but I do understand where you're coming from. As several people have said on this site in the last week or so, Facyson does have more production (4 INTs, Forced Fumble, Fumble Recovery, etc) but he plays a different style of defensive back than both Kyle and Kendall. Kyle and Kendall tend to play bump-and-run man coverage all the way, meaning that quarterbacks won't really throw in their direction unless they get completely burned... which rarely happens. Facyson -- again, as many have pointed out -- plays better when he is baiting the quarterback to throw to the man he is covering (usually in zone, not man coverage). He then reads the QB's eyes and breaks on the ball to beat the receiver to the spot.

I do agree with you that Facyson is playing out of his mind right now, but I'm not sure that we can rate him a better corner simply because of the numbers. I know that "numbers never lie," but in this case I don't think they tell the entire story. As far as the news of Facyson getting the start on Saturday, I will admit that I was relieved because I could not see Exum doing well in his first game off of the injury, especially with as much as UNC will probably target him.

Oh I don't think he's playing better than Kyle I think is playing the second best out of all the dbacks We can argue about the numbers some other time but my thing is that facyson is what 6' 1, thats a big college corner..he's got incredible range and closing speed..which in my mind is what makes him an xfactor... U need him in there to make big plays in big moments just as u need Kyle to play on fuller island, just like u need Kendall to be able to play man to man on slot receivers and take away short throws. They're skills mesh well together, and I don't think u mess with that chemistry right now. period

Oh, my bad. I misread the part about Kyle. We have just about the same views then. I agree that the secondary is playing outstanding right now, with the exception of a few hiccups from Bonner that can most likely be fixed fairly easily. Even though Bonner may be the weakest link in the secondary right now (and that's not a bad title to have in our secondary), I believe he's still an NFL caliber player. As everyone is saying, Exum coming back is a good problem to have but in my opinion it's also a heartbreaking problem to have. If you switch Exum back to safety (which isn't going to happen) he's switched positions twice in the last three years and will have to re-learn all the signals. If you plug Exum in for Facyson, you're taking one of the most talented freshmen in the country off the field in favor of a player returning from injury that hasn't been tested for about a year. The chemistry right now--as you said--is great and shouldn't be messed with, but Exum needs to show that he can still play so that his NFL career remains intact.

Tough decisions all around.

At the end of the 2012 season Exum was a far more complete defensive player than Facyson is right now. Foster can do more with the defense with (healthy) Exum on the field than Facyson. It's that simple. Facyson has been put in a position to succeed and to his credit he has succeeded big time, but there's no replacing experience when dialing up plays in our complex defense.

Saw Bitter Tweet that it will be like 80/20 or 90/10 split in playing time. Seems Exum is cleared but not near game ready.

Glad our freshman ball hawk will be starting on Saturday. Ready for him to get that national lead in interceptions. Even more ready for revenge on UNC. Go Hokies!

"Now Miami wants to talk about it." *Cue Enter Sandman*

Guys I do not understand why we are so stressed about Exum returning and hurting us. Before the season started it was a consensus that our D would not excel until he returned. He is a great talent and another weapon. Sure he will have some rust to knock off. A big reason our D has been so great is because of the ability and talent in our secondary to move players around in coverage and create confusion for opposing offenses. Kyle, Kendall, Facsyon, Jarrett and a great improved Bonner have been all over the field giving our D lots of different coverage and blitz packages. Exum just gives us one more weapon with a ton of experience to do even more of these things and give more new looks. It will be fine...these coaches are not stupid. They are not going to just up and bench Kendall or Brandon when they have been outstanding playmakers so far. We have a great D that just got one more weapon. Enjoy it...dont have a heart attack over a player getting healthy.

I'm not worried about Exum hurting the team, I'm worried about him hurting himself if he's not 100%. Game speed is different than practice. Moreover, I think the debate is less "aw man, it sucks that Exum is back" (which is definitely not true) and more "aw man, Facyson is playing lights-out, so what do we do, remove the freshman phenom to bring back the All-ACC guy?" Happy problem to have, and there may not be a good or bad choice.

#GAMEFACYSON I really really really like that guy.

I love the #GAMEFACYSON (I'm sure he's never heard it before)
There's nothing wrong with getting Exum's feet wet in some garbage time (I'm hoping for us to be far enough ahead to have some). That's my main concern is Exum going full metal and hurting himself again.
I want nothing but the best for everyone in O&M and I would hate to have him wait for so long to get back to doing what he loves to get hurt again.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

So...if it was reported that Exum was starting, would you guys be mad...or would it still be all "In Bud/Torrian we trust"?

Not trying to be smarmy, just a question.

Leonard. Duh.

I trust our coaches until I have reason not to. No sense criticizing an unknown.

Not at all, I think we'd be losing the momentum at the position being Facyson is playing so well. But Antone was the starter, and if they (being the geniuses we know they are) went with Exum, I'm always behind them

#allmarooneverything

I'd trust until I see it with my own eyes to know ff Exum was back like Miami or if Exum was back like Alabama.

I trust our coaches, but did question why Tweedy was not starting whip the first half of last season. Total baller once he got in there...

Once Exum is healthy he'll be a stud again. Also, I'm ready for a new rap.

With all the head-scratchers coming from coaching on the offensive side of the ball the past few years...I think it's only fair to give little trust to the defensive side

Hey now at least we have some depth at corner. We'd of been screwed if someone got injured

I think Riley is the real deal (not that I'd be happy to see any of our guys go down). On many D1 teams I think he would start, and on most (all?!?) he wouldn't be the 5th CB (as he is now assuming Exum is and stays healthy).

He should provide quality depth for several years, and maybe even start if we keep going with three CBs on the field so often.

Brandon facyson was at the girls soccer....i was pretty excited haha

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Very good! I'd like to see a few plays on offense out of our star freshmen. See what the man can do..probably 20 plays and on the series he does go in at WR let Antoine go in on defense..seems like a decent plan. We will need all the defenders to play against this high speed attack. Stay well rested!

I actually want to see a little #TWOWAYFACYSON see what he can do!

you wanna see his O Facyson?

see what I did there?

I see what you did there

Looks like he's gonna play the whole game...

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

I must say I am a bit relieved. I have been uneasy with the talk this week and have felt things were a bit forced. The most important thing for Exum is to get fully healthy.

Fortune Favors the Bold

it's really too bad they can't get Exum one more year of eligibility. I think he would benefit from having a whole off season to prepare and then a full season to showcase his skills...only downside of that route is that he'll be older going into the league. But corners have a longer life expectancy in the NFL than most other positions. Look at D.Hall for instance. Or another way to look at it is how Ronde Barber lasted longer in the league than his bro

He's not only looking out for the team, but also himself

Gotta love that guy. I'm looking forward to him returning 100% and being a contributor. Hopefully he'll be on the sidelines cheering his teammates on.

Unselfish. Saint Exum.

Half of coming back from a knee injury is getting to a point in which you can trust your knee. Gotta take as much time as possible to get to that point. Just hoping this doesn't turn into a Derrick Rose type deal.

Rip his freaking head off!

Being a Redskins fan, I hope it isn't an RGIII situation. Guy is healthy physically but psychologically he's still a work in process
