So apparently, UNC defensive coordinator Vic Koenning crushed his defense in front of reporters this week, with his players within earshot. (See video in the article.)
Normally, you would expect a focused team that is ready to respond to his challenge to be quiet, or say "well, he is right. ECU had 600 yards, we have to play better." Well, UNC's best defensive player and senior Tre Boston said the following: "well he says stuff like that." Jeez.
Dear Hokie offensive line. Please show Mr. Boston that he should be a little more concerned.

I hope Logan trucks this kid into the ground.
Sam Rogers truck, Logan trailer, Boston road kill.
I hope LT3, SAM ROGERS and Edmunds turn him into a Boston Pancake.
Sounds like our team last year, from what Logan said earlier...
You know what Tre? Keep telling yourself that. And when Logan trucks you, you'll hear the bells ringing too.
I'd love to hear one of our players say something like that about Foster. Except I wouldn't because he would probably end up dead.
Poor taste from the coach's perspective, but let's give the kid a break, two-fold: He and his teammates were publicly "dressed down" after an embarrassing loss, and while the kid's still dealing with puberty/hormones a mic is shoved in his face, I give him credit for not saying something completely stupid... Secondly, we don't need to hate (it's a bad word...) on the players. But coaches? Fair game against them and any collective of the institution.
And Foster wouldn't pull a dick move like that.
My soapbox'ed two cents...
Foster has the players backs. "He played his nuts off" is right up there with "I'm a man, I'm 40!" as far as I'm concerned.
Wish I could up vote this sentiment more.
Wow. You don't see coaches resorting to that kind of tactic unless they've gotten REALLY frustrated. Just my opinion, but that sounds like a desperate man reaching the bottom of the Barrel of Motivational Tricks.
Bad form by the coach, but that is not how you want your senior and best defensive player to react. That sounds like a big ole "f that guy" to the coach.
No excuse for our offense not to move the ball on Saturday.
I get this weird feeling that Logan will throw 3 TDs. I have no idea why and it isn't based on anything but I just have a feeling. I think Cline finally gets in the end zone as well.
One of them to Facyson???
Kalvin Kline touchdown.
a) Logan Thomas finds tight end Kline of VT in the endzone
b) Sporty new line offered from the designer
I like that guy a lot, but I feel like his parents may or may not found some designer inspiration.
Damn, why didn't I play the lottery instead of thinking about football stuff? 1 out of 2 ain't bad.
You know, it's sad when the feel I get from an article including coach and player quotes is that the player is more well-spoken in the media than the coach. He brushes off the coach's comments and says good things about his team, while the coach resorts to the tried and failed method of extensively badmouthing his players to the press.
If VT comes out and executes and hits UNC in the mouth a couple times in the 1st quarter, look to see the defense tuck their tails and for this UNC team to become a dumpster fire for the rest of the season. Leadership starts with the coach, and if he can't find a guy to step up and lead it's his fault IMO.
I agree, and think the UNC circus is turning into a disaster this year. Would they fire Fedora mid-season if he starts 1-5? I would expect he would at least start firing coaches, starting on the defensive side.
Nice to see them wasting talent down in Chapel Hill like their cousins up in Hooville.
If the situation on defense is what it appears to be, with the players potentially bailing on the coach (or vice versa), I could see Fedora firing the defensive coordinator, but Fedora himself is probably safe.
I very much hope this happens. I don't like cheaters.
Wow. I hope we have a very successful first quarter against them offensively, because I think they're at a tipping point. If they get frustrated early, quitting might be in the realm of possibility.
Agreed.
51-7? :)
I hope you're right. We owe these guys
Build on last week, and get the HBs some more carries.
Hopefully UNC is laughing at our offense and thinking about the pounding last year. I bet the nightly 1 - 3 heels are thinking they can pound the fb again running. Hopefully the Hokies will be fired up for blood.
Honestly, I'm extremely wary when it comes to VT and success in the same sentence, but UNC's offense is going to need Obamacare after this game.
If by Obamacare you mean staring at a web-page full of useless information that doesn't accomplish anything, well...
I'm pretty sure that's their class curriculum already.
^^^what's offensive about this? Why did it get a down vote?
offset up vote
Everyone's probably on edge about any political reference of any sort. It shouldn't merit a downvote, though, IMHO.
I'm with VTGuitarMan here...nothing truly offensive so it doesn't deserve a downvote..but I don't think TKP is a place for politics right now. Probably in everyone's best interest to leave political opinions somewhere else.
Truth! Let's focus on football.
Hell I just got downvoted for saying I didn't like the term Chokies. Really?!?!?
Agreed. I dislike the term Chokies as well, and you definitely shouldn't get downvoted for expressing your opinion. Unfortunately until we win more big games that particular nickname is gonna be with us. +1 for balance though.
Yeah... I tried to make it as apolitical as I could. But, hard to riff on "Obamacare" w/out actually using the word.
Thanks for all the upvotes tho. At long last, I can wield the mighty turkey leg!
Mothers, lock up your daughters!
I didn't downvote it, but it should be clear: Don't get anywhere near politics on this board.
This board is a refuge: very few of the stupid Hokies you see elsewhere, no hoos or 'eers and no politics.
I downvoted, not because it was offensive but because politics are problematic in general and this board is a refuge from the real world (for me, anyway). I accept the turkey legs I'll lose because of it.
here's a leg for owning up to it
Kudos to owning it and I won't down vote you for it. I agree, stay away from politics on here.
Whoops. I upvoted HOAT by accident. Could someone offset that for me?
I keed. I agree that it should be a refuge. It's just hard to resist the urge to riff, but I'll try harder when sensitive subjects are broached.
Upvoted two of your other posts to even it out. I don't think YOU deserve a downvote, I just wanted to express a little displeasure with anything political. So I downvoted that comment but made sure to find a way to make it up so you aren't adversely affected.
The only politics we should be concerned with are the politics that concern Tech Atheletics (specifically our football team) IMHO.
Agreed, and in this case I believe the LunchPailocrats are going to be the ones shutting down the TarHeelicans.
I hope we filibusttheirasses.
This needs more upvotes than I can give!
I'm expecting the Fed(ora) to be clueless when facing the elephant that is the Foster D and chaos to ensue next week at Capitol Heel.
Alternative view. UNC is looking like a beaten dog with it's back against the wall. They know they need to win this game to get back into the Coastal competition. Will they have enough bite to overcome Bud Foster's defense?
Have you been hanging around with terrible metaphor guy from AB's live chats?
I cannot begin to describe the amusement of reading a 45 post message board that is an intricate discussion of message board etiquette, balancing up votes and down votes and numerous uses of the word refuge. I think...I'm tickled, that's the best way to describe my frame of mind right now.
shh... even the fifth Fuller needs to keep the secret Fuller tickle me button a secret.
