Hopkins and Fuller played a game of "Mr. Inside/Mr. Outside" to shut down Georgia Tech's triple-option attack, relying on Hopkins's strength to eliminate dives up the middle and Fuller's quickness to shoot gaps in the line, disrupting the quarterback's rhythm on his second read. The result: The Yellow Jackets managed just 129 yards rushing on 3.1 per carry, barely a third of the way to their season average, in a 1710 loss that put the Hokies in the driver's seat in the ACC Coastal.

Like somebody said on one of these forums earlier...I really hope the Hokies don't read all this and get swelled up.
Besides, 1-0 is hardly in the driver's seat. Lose Saturday, and and the Hokies are right back in the backseat with GT and UNC.
We need to remember that last year's 7-6 team started out 1-0 in the conference with a win over GT.
Beamer knows
yep- "In the driver's seat" seems like a bit of a reach after one game in-conference. Think I told someone we were in the drivers seat last year after the GT game, and I vaguely remember someone excitedly posting about buying Orange Bowl tickest as soon as possible after that game. What a rough year that was...
I think everyone agrees that we SHOULD win these next four games. But we lost to UNC and Pitt last year, so those aren't going to be easy wins. Duke was beating us by 20 and BC took us to overtime. There are no easy wins.
I would say COULD instead of SHOULD. We definitely can win all of those games. I don't think we're at a point where we can really say we SHOULD win all of those games. Our defense SHOULD play well in all of those games but the jury is still out on how the O SHOULD do. I just think SHOULD is a little too strong of a word for where we are at this point of the season with new coaches all over the place.
Well said - last year cost us the benefit of the doubt against weaker teams. This team is certainly capable of running roughshod over the Coastal, but certainly not a garauntee at this point. I hope last year keeps this team focussed and hungry, because if so, it could be a rough year for the rest of the division (particularly the offenses!)
Agreed 100%.
