You're 1-0 in the ACC with a win against the Yellow Jackets. You've beaten a couple of mid majors, and a FCS cupcake. Coach Beamer has done a locker room dance, and multiple news outlets are singing the praises of the dominant defense.
Feeling pretty good about yourselves? Well...don't. I hear all you guys talking about wiping the taste of 7-6 out of your mouth this year. Here we are in 2013 and you're basically in the same spot you were right around Pitt/UNC/Cincy, plus or minus a couple of non-conference games.
Basically...you haven't done ANYTHING this year that wasn't done last year. YET. This weekend is your first opportunity to actually atone for last year. You guys need to bring it tomorrow. You better believe the Heels think they're bringing it. I'm nearby Chapel Hill, and we've been inundated with stories of player's only meetings, quotes from coaches/players about how the season is riding on the game against the Hokies, etc. I shouldn't have to mention that the Heels DESTROYED your run defense last year. Hopefully Bud Foster has posted a sign that reads 339 yds Rushing in every one of your lockers this week.
Revenge is a dish best eaten. Period. Hot, cold, whatever. Revenge f**cking rocks. This Heels team is damaged psychologically right now. Give them some rope, and they're going to take it and win this game. Punch them in the face at 15:00, 1st qtr, and keep punching, they'll probably go fetal.
Prove everybody wrong dudes. If you're thinking you can kick back in the recliner tomorrow, take a moment and picture how Sunday is going to look if you lay an egg. All the pundits, reporters, and bloggers talking about..."Yep, same Hokies as last year."

We have the best defense in the nation and that's a huge difference between this year's team and last year's. We'll be fine just as long as Logan and the offense don't shit the bed. Any motivational speeches need to be directed to that group. Maybe instead of being worried that our defense will hear all the praise (that it deserves), we should hope our offense hears/reads all the negativity about them in the media (that it deserves). Maybe fire that side of the ball up a bit.
Last week was much better but the offense isn't out of the doghouse yet.
Certain elements of Special Teams, need to be taught by the numbers, too.

It's just that the Hokie offense actually did pretty good in Chapel Hill last year, but the Heels offense knocked the D down, took the lunch pail and ate their lunch while they had to watch. Also, I think the Heels offense vs the Hokies defense is a much more dangerous matchup, even after the ECU grease fire.
Turns out I was kinda glad my (non-Hokie) step brother had his wedding during that game.

Im a student athletic trainer and I was working with the D line this week and after every practice this week he's brought up the rushing yards against UNC and he keeps telling them that they should be pissed. Oh and he says his dislike for UNC is the same as UVA and how he says they think they are better then VT. He also keeps telling them that this is UNCs playoff game and they will come out wanting to win. Bud has them fired up.
I hear where you are going with this, but honestly I thought it was a bit patronizing to the team. Last year's 7-6 squad did not play Alabama and yet STILL remained in the discussion as one of (if not the top) battle-tested legit defenses out there.
This was a problem in years past, but honestly I feel this team would crush last year's based on what I've seen. Not to be a downer bro just my $0.02
Maybe I should put this in the food thread, but Humble Pie is pretty good and should be consumed in large quantities.
Humble pie tastes way better that crow pie. Here's hoping that UNC goes home with large helping of the latter while the Hokies feast on celebration cake. (Pie is still better, but cake is appropriate for celebrations.)

My only beef with alums in the stadium is that the west stands are always standing still when Enter Sandman is played. At least, that's how it seems on TV. When that song is played, even old people need to get rowdy.
Anyone else think LOLUVA should be on upset watch today? I know the Neck mentioned it in her game predictions but I looked at the stats and I could see it happening if LOLUVA takes the nonchalant approach since they are at home against an inferior opponent. To quote a buddy of mine that is an alumnus of Mr. Jefferson's fine university, "We are playing Ball St., so I don't need to watch the game." If that's not the kiss of death.....
I agree with your statement whole heartedly. I could see LOLUVA looking past who they see as an inferior opponent an then letting Ball State catch them nappin on their home field. Nothin would make me happier then to hear that the 'hoos lost to Ball State.... That is of course besides a Hokie trouncing of the tarholes
Ball State is 4-1 with wins against Army, Eastern Mich, Ill State, and Toledo, and one loss to North Texas. They're ranked 10th nationally in passing yards and 25th in points (from ESPN's Ball State site). I'm wagering Ball State will put up more than 35.
On the other hand, UVA is ranked near the bottom of FBS in passing yards and points for (both rankings above 100, again from ESPN). I'm thinking UVA will be able to put up some points on Ball State, but I think they'll be too offensive for UVA to handle. They'll have better offensive production against Ball State than they did against Oregon or BYU, but not by a whole lot.
Score prediction: Ball State 38 - LOLUVA 24
