I think they nailed it right on the head. Virginia Tech is (arguably) the best defense in the country, easily within the top five. It's going to be the reason we're going to be competitive every game we play. Special teams is a bit of a mess right now and LT3 and the rest of the offense isn't good enough to win games on their own.

EPHokie: why didn't you immediately resort to insulting his physical appearance. Isn't that the only rational response to someone on ESPN you don't like? *Sarcasm
EDIT: This is actually what I thought of but couldn't think of his name

I don't know what's going on. My edit is only showing up half the time. I tried to change the pic to Franklin the Turtle cause that's what that guy really looks like.

At least they said we have actually been tested on defense, unlike the other teams. Except for Western Carolina, each team we've played has been a high power offense that we have held in check and given our team a chance to win.

I'd say that the Florida defense and the VT defenses are very close but Florida will start giving up some yardage against the better sec teams. Our numbers should get better and better with duke, bc, and LOLUVA.

I agree with Dari to an extent. He said we've been tested twice against Alabama and GT, but I'd go a bit farther and say that both Marshall and ECU have legit offenses. Cato is a ridiculous QB and will put up lots of yards and points this year, and ECU just hung 55 on UNC (for whatever that is worth). The next really truly high powered offense we face will be Miami, and we saw Florida shut them down, so I think we'll have a fair comparison at that point. But HokieSince92 has a good point, we do get a few weak offenses between now and the end of the year so our numbers should improve, while the rest of the teams should have a harder time keeping their numbers down.
I'm also impressed by Dari's use of Oregon's starting field position as a rationale for his decision. I greatly question his selections of Baylor and Oregon, and I haven't watched too much of either, but hearing their average starting field position is the 40 is impressive. Before believing too much in that stat, I'd rather hear about the opponent's average punting position, because I think Oregon has stellar returners and that might inflate the field position number.
Michigan State has had its biggest challenge against Notre Dame. And they don't play Wisconsin or OSU this year, so I'll be taking that one with a grain of salt until 2014

With regards to Oregon, I can see what you're saying with the return men, but still, when the defense is on the field so long and still doesn't surrender 20+ points a game, that's pretty solid. Also, watching them backhand UVA repeatedly makes me want to rank them higher.

Preach it Dari!
I can't believe that first guy didn't even mention the GT game... But nice to get some serious love
I feel like this title could be interpreted a few other ways...
My mind may or may not have reverted to that of a 12 yr old when I read it
I feel your prepubescent pain man
Miami fans are getting a big head again. We need to give them a nice serving of humble pie when we enter Sun Life Stadium
I thought all the empty seats did a decent job of that...

I don't think this fair. They don't have any Fullers
Who was the first guy? McGee? Someone get him off the TV, stat. What a snorefest listening to him...
it's safe to say that his debate skills were lacking compared to the second.

I saw Franklin on the page before, but then when I went to reply, I saw Arthur. So I'm just as confused as you are.

Good god these segments are lame.
Thats all good but Whoo has the best 3rd down D?
ahhh i see what you did there
I know who has the best 4th down D...
I'm a huge Dari fan..good respect right there.
At 5:31 in the video, Dari puts us at #1 and Ryan McGee lies and says he put us at #2 or 3 when he really ranked us at #4.
He knew his mistake and tried to fix it. Too little too late. Pray Sam Rogers doesn't find you, McGee.
I agree with them but I don't like how they didn't mention shutting down ECU's offense which is plenty potent.
