Time to Ruin Gameday....
The Hokies head into enemy territory to take on a UVA team on the precipice of a #1 Ranking. Sportscenter Gameday will be on hand for this game. The Hokies need to turn in their best performance of the season so far since UVA not only plays stifling defense but also can shoot the ball this season. Right now, ESPN.com has the matchup predictor 93.4% in the Wahoo's favor.
Since our last matchup in January, the Wahoos have wins over everyone they have faced in the ACC over a ten game run. They took down UNC, Syracuse twice, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Clemson, Duke, Louisville and Florida State in that run. The biggest surprise this year is the offensive efficiency of the Cavaliers. Last season they broke the 80 point barrier only one time and that was against Grambling. Even their 2OT game against Tech only saw them score 78 thanks to Perrantes ball sitting pretty on the rim. This season though, the Cavaliers eclipsed 80 three times already, though the scoring has diminished since hitting ACC play. They are managing only 65 points per contest in ACC play but only allowing opponents to score 52 points in those same conference games. The pack line defense always keep teams low scoring (1st Nationally in Avg Points Against) but usually the team has holes on the offensive end. UVA leads the all-time series 91-55.
The Cavaliers are coached by Tony Bennett, who has a 280-117 record as a head coach. He is now 211-84 at UVA and with the recent winning streak has nudged into the 70% Winning Club amongst coaches. It doesn't seem like Bennett has been coaching the Wahoos for 9 seasons but that is the case. He has taken them to five NCAA tournaments in the past six years and is on his way to a sixth this season with hopes of a #1 Seed.
This is a team that plays defense first second and third and this season seems to have found an offense to match. You guys have heard the term "Pack Line Defense" thrown about regarding UVA on several occasions. So what does it mean? It is a high pressure, man to man defense that sags to the middle of the court. It is designed to prevent penetration by driving the basketball. The "pack line" is an imaginary line two feet inside the three point line that all defenders not guarding the current ball handler are never supposed to be outside of.
The defender that is on the ball handler is expected to be up close, hand in face to create turnovers on the outside. One other critical aspect of this defense that is different than most is that it's designed to deny the baseline. Defenders are taught to position themselves to not allow any baseline penetration, relying on help defense to close down an adjusted drive to the center of the lane. At the top of the post, expect to see defenders attempt to position themselves somewhat in front of the opposing offensive player to prevent the easy pass to the top of the lane. The key weakness of this defense is if a team gets a large lead on you, than they are free to pass the ball around the perimeter to run clock. Unfortunately with the skill of the players that UVA has recruited, that doesn't happen very often. Tony Bennett draws this defense from his father, Dick Bennett, who is considered the developer of this style of defense while he coached at Washington State University.
Bennett has his team running what is called a Block Mover Offense on the other end of the court. This is a variation of the Motion Offense, allowing the primary ball handler at the top of the key to attempt to use a screen provided by one of two lane personnel near the top of the key. At the point of the screen, the ball handler decides either to drive the lane, kick out to an open shooter or attempt a down low pass to their second lane player, who usually moves across the basket down at the baseline block to create space for the driving guard. The defensive rotation is what drives the guard's decision making process as he assesses what is in front of him. The guard essentially has three options coming off the pick or can spin back out to reset for another play. The key for the Hokies will be to limit the times where we allow dribble penetration by Kyle Guy or Devon Hall or allow a clean pass into the lower lane player for an easy layup.
What does that mean for the Hokies?
The Hokies absolutely have to speed up the tempo of this game to create open looks. If they are not able to do that then each possession takes on that much more significance against one of the best defenses they will face all season. UVA is allowing the fewest points per contest this season and is also holding opponents under 30% from the perimeter, holding ACC opponents to a miserable 27.8%.
The Hokies face their toughest week of the season so must come out with a renewed focus on executing a clean game plan, especially concerning turnovers. Seeing the Hokies approach offensively against NC State gives me a better feeling that they can be competitive even when not getting many clean looks from outside.
The Hokies must come out with the same defensive intensity they showed against NC State. If they are able to stifle the Wahoo's even slightly, it could create a window to build a lead against the Wahoos.
Wahoos Backcourt

Kyle Guy, #5, 6'3, 165 lbs Sophomore is leading the Wahoo's in scoring at 15.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.4 APG and 1.2 SPG. He is knocking down his perimeter shots at 40% on almost seven attempts per game. He also shoots 86% from the free throw line. Most people may have trouble recognizing him as he decided over the summer to remove the man-bun.

Senior Devon Hall, #0, 6'5, 210 lbs is averaging 12.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 3.1 APG while shooting almost 48% from the inside, 46% from outside and 93% from the line as well. Expect to see Hall and Guy rotate off the top of the key, working to find each other open on the perimeter after initial drive attempts inside. These are the only two Wahoo's in double figures so far this season.

The next closest Wahoo to double figures this season is Ty Jerome, #11, 6'5, 192 Lbs, Sophomore, who rotates effectively with Hall and Guy. He comes in averaging 9.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 3.7 APG, and 1.5 SPG. Jerome is shooting a cool 45% from inside and 42% from outside, He is also hitting his free throws at 94% on the season.
Senior Nigel Johnson, #23, 6'1, 185 Lbs, is averaging 6.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, and 1.2 SPG but is suspended for this contest.

Freshman Deandre Hunter, #12, 6'7, 212 Lbs is averaging 8.2 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 1 APG. He is a change of pace infusion when Guy or Hall needs a breather but has been elevated to starting with Johnson suspended. He is averaging 19 minutes per contest so far.
Wahoos Frontcourt

Isaiah Wilkins, #21, 6'8, 205 Lbs who is the Step Son of Dominique "The Human Highlight Film" Wilkins. He is averaging 6 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.3 SPG and 1.6 BPG while also shooting almost 54% from the floor and 76% from the line. As you can see from his stat line, Wilkins is a bit of a Human Highlight reel himself, with solid numbers in almost every statistical category both offensively and defensively. If he could be forced to the bench for any significant amount of time it would be a big blow to the Wahoos all around.

Sophomore Mamadi Diakite #25, 6'9, 195 Lbs, rotates with Wilkins as the Power Forward. He is averaging 5.1 PPG and 3.2 RPG while shooting 54% from inside and 81% from the line.
Jay Huff, #30, 6'11, 215 Lbs, Freshman, rotates the other big position with Jack Salt, #33, 6'10, 240 Lbs across 24 minutes per contest.
What to expect from the Wahoos?
Looking at the Wahoo statistics in ACC play, you can tell that Tony Bennett has really been limiting his bench because most of the starters have better offensive numbers since they last time we played them but they are averaging almost 8 points less per game since then. That being the case, getting in their heads and getting early fouls could force Bennett to utilize guys he has been letting build up rust.
As a team the Wahoo's shoot a respectable 39% from outside but when you get in close you realize that the top three shooters are hitting 6.2 of 14.7 attempts per game or 42% from outside. In a game where points are at a premium it means that you have to close out on Guy, Hall and Jerome and take your chances with the rest on the perimeter.
The rotation for this team is also skilled at controlling the ball, ranking 1st in the ACC in fewest turnovers at 8 per game and 2nd in forcing turnovers from opponents at 15 per game, with four out of five starters averaging more than 1 steal per game. They combine for 5.5 SPG as starters.
The continued lack of production from Jack Salt and Jay Huff, the two true Bigs on this roster, the first 6'10 and the second 7'1 is a bit puzzling. Salt plays a consistent 20 minutes a contest, and is putting up 3.4 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and less than one assist. Huff's however has seen his playing time evaporate as he has managed to get on the floor for five minutes in ACC play, having not played at all in nine of their twelve conference games.
The Wahoo's starters and sixth man are excellent from the line, averaging 85% on 248 attempts. Shots from the foul line come at a premium though for UVA, averaging just over 13 attempts per game, so barring a significant change, this shouldn't hurt us dramatically. Part of this is their high offensive efficiency but also the fact that they only pull in 8.3 offensive rebounds per game on average this season so not a lot of second chance points for the Cavaliers.
The flip side of this coin though is that the Cavaliers allow the 2nd fewest free throw attempts in the nation, averaging 12.29 attempts. Considering the Hokies are still averaging over 22.5 attempts per game, it will be something to watch for as this game gets going. Whichever of these teams keeps it closer to their average would have a big advantage in what should be a low scoring affair.
The Hokies
The Hokies need to be the utmost in efficiency in this game on the offensive end. UVA only turns the ball over 8.3 times per contest on average so the Hokies will not be able to count on significant extra possessions this way. The UVA opponents also do very poorly in the rebounding category so the Hokies will need to be wary as opponents only manage 31 rebounds per contest, and of that only 9 on the offensive end. UVA is in the top 4 nationally in 9 defensive categories including first nationally in fewest shots allowed, fewest interior shots attempted, fewest assists allowed, and points per game. Opponents only manage 51 shots per contest against the Wahoos to put up 52.4 PPG.
The Hokies will have to find holes in the zone and they have to be able to penetrate the zone on the dribble to create gaps or they will play directly into the Wahoo's game plan. The Wahoo's do allow opponents to attempt 22 perimeter shots per game, but as previously discussed they only allow 29% to go in. The Hokies will need to be able to hit their shots or force their way to the line. Last season's win saw the Hokies go 8-26 from outside but hit 20-26 free throws which played a deciding factor.

Bibbs, Hill and Walker-Alexander need to play a much larger role against UVA than they managed last time. If they are able to hit their shots it opens up the floor much more for Robinson and Blackshear to work inside. Last time these three combined for 11 points, 9 rebounds, and only 1 assist, which is completely unacceptable from three starting positions. These three normally average 38.5 PPG, 10.1 RPG, and 4.5 APG. The rebounding was there but the scoring was significantly down.

Justin Robinson, man on a mission.
In Closing
This game is going to come down to three things, dribble penetration for both teams, execution at the free throw line, and offensive efficiency by the Hokies. If the Hokies are the better team at these three areas, than they will up their ACC record to 7-5. Get the better of the Wahoos in two out of three areas and give yourself a chance. Let UVA win these areas and it's another long night at John Paul Jones. The Hokies will definitely need to win the offensive rebounding battle to get more shots and second chance points against the Wahoos to keep us in this game.
Whichever team gets to the rim more consistently with the ball will do one of two things, run up the score on baskets or ramp up the free throw attempts, which could go a long way in deciding this contest. One last thing that will be critical for the Hokies is that Justin Bibbs and Ahmed Hill need to find their shot from outside to keep the Wahoo's honest in guarding him outside. This could be a key factor in allowing Robinson, Clarke, and Blackshear the needed space to drive into the lane against the Cavaliers.
It's an away game with an extra ramped up atmosphere because of Sportscenter Gameday being there, which actually probably plays in the Hokies favor. The last time these teams faced each other, Cassell was considerably quiet because of the holidays and how fast UVA jumped out on the Hokies. This time the UVA fans will likely keep things lively no matter how things are going.
All the recipe for these guys being amped up, now Buzz just needs to keep them focused. I believe we have the talent, size and speed required to break this defense tonight. It obviously would be better with the perimeter shooters heating up from outside to give the Cavaliers fits. Blackshear and Robinson at the free throw line late in this one are the difference. Tech uses its newfound defensive posture to scrape out a 65-63 win, hanging on against a late charge from UVA.

That was an outstanding write up for this game. I really wish we were a bit more sure of our ability to compete with the 'hoos this year, but what we really need to do is not be intimidated, not give them the props they think they deserve (yeah, they deserve plenty) and just go in there with the attitude that even if we don't win, they'll know they've been in a fight. Can we beat 'em? Well, hell yeah, we can. Will we beat 'em? 'Nother question. I'll be watching, as usual, and will look for a Hokie team that isn't going to concede the game in the first half, like we seemed to do when they came to Cassell. We might lose, but I want to see the 'hoos with a bloody nose, anyway.
Edit: I hear ya. LET'S GO......
HOKIES!
LET'S GO!!!!
Edit: Fuck UVA
HOKIES!!!!!!
Your optimism had me like
But seriously... Great work, thanks!
Can we mod edit the first two posts to "Let's go" and "Hokies" respectively? We have superstitions to uphold.
It's too late, man. We're screwed.
Ive got the #2 spot lemme know if I need to change it
You're up, jollyman.
Exit Light Enter Night Take my hand We're off to never never land
Was kinda concerned to wake up from a nap and see the gameday thread. I thought I had slept till tomorrow.
Sorry to drop it so early but I knew with my crazy schedule today working on my new business that it wouldn't have happened if I didn't put it up last night
Good time for a old Deadspin classic
Douchery of UVA hoop fans
I had not seen this. Thank you so much.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Incredible writing here...
When you give a student like this a basketball team heavy on strategy and coaching and "intelligence," of course you're going to find them squatting over it and prying open their anuses to intake as much of that aura up their own assholes as they possibly can.
Maybe next time, don't use a picture of the time Tony Bennett collapsed. We can hate UVA all we want. Let's leave the man's health out of it. We're better than that.
I dont pull photos with their back story attached so their was no intent to hit on him having a health issue ( which I was unaware of ), I picked it to bring images of the Hokies putting the Wahoos on their ass. Image will be removed.
Ok, thanks for the edit and update.
That happened during the tournament a few years ago. I remember the camera panning over to him and him trying to get back on his feet. It was scary stuff, but glad he's ok.
I have a hard time seeing us pulling out a win vs. UVA without an alpha to take over and make important shots down the stretch. I just feel like that's what you need when you're a team constructed like ours is and need to break through that suffocating defense. Seth Allen was undoubtedly that guy the last couple years. I'm not sure who that guy is on this team.
J rob
Who's J Rob? I think you mean 5!! /s
Blackshear channels his inner LeDay and goes full scowl as he drops 25-10-5
"Just like football." Bring it on.
The way UVA plays, this could be a 10-0 final score.
#beatbama
Wait
Watching gameday there makes me want to see these students get their hearts ripped out. Also Chirs Long will be there, he never won a Commonwealth Cup something to think about...
Yeah I'm not sure why I turned this on. I'm trying not to let it piss me off. Might have to get into the bourbon.
I have a bottle of Bulleitt 10-year I'm trying to hold off on opening until at least noon. This broadcast may change that
That's some great stuff. It'll be Russell's Reserve Single Barrel for me today.
Russell's is great too. Cheers π₯
I will be cracking a bottle of Blanton's in hopes it gives us some good luck. Been saving for a special occasion (since I have trouble getting it in MI) and this seems like a good reason.
#beatUVa
Slightly impressed with their gameday showing
This crowd is making more noise during there one hour of college gameday than their entire football season...
It got pretty loud on Black Friday
Those were VT fans...
Right
Someone explain the RG3 jerseys.
No explanation. Football confuses them.
Their student section also does a Florida State tomahawk move during basketball games. I've asked multiple UVA fans why they do it and what it means and none of them have an answer.
Angus Binnie is the most loluvaist name of all time
I came here to say the exact same thing.
Angus Binnie from Greenwich, CT
Christ that's UVA....
VT + 12.... lets go baby!
Elsewhere in the ACC today , UNC wins at NC State, BC comes back to beat Miami.
Yes that Miami loss at home hurt, but we should really be be proud of that win at BC.
Please please please don't let the Purdue MSU game go to overtime. I'd really like to actually see the beginning of our game
OH MY GOD THESE REFS FUCKING SUCK
Time to ruin UVA's day!
Defense very active early!
Nice block by Wilson
I just don't get it and don't think I ever will. Why guys are already running down the court on shots not boxing out for a rebound.
Since when is hitting the top of the backboard not out of bounds??
It must be new rule this season because it hasn't been called that way all year.
The rule has not changed, and it was called correctly in this game.
The ball is out of bounds:
a. When it touches or is touched by:
1. A player who is out of bounds.
2. Any other person, the floor, or any object on or outside a boundary.
3. The supports or back of the backboard.
4. The ceiling, overhead equipment or supports.
b. When it passes over a rectangular backboard.
I guess when it bounces forward back toward the goal instead of over the top toward the baseline?
Open shots not falling
Brickfest of 3's.
second chance points...
the opportunity at least.
This team can't rebound to save their lives. I get we're undersized but the box out is atrocious.
Just like they've pointed out, the offensive rebounds are there.
Now I know how UVA football fans feel every time they have to play the Hokies...
No you don't. We're on a streak of L1 against them. They're at L14.
It's more about the spirit of hatred that they are really good than it is about disparity of quality between the two teams.
Well we are getting open threes. Gonna have to hit them to stay close
It's like we're worried so instead of chasin a offensive rebound we all abort to defend even though UVA DONT push the pace idiotic coaching if you ask me
I'm next to one guy that is actively cheering for UVA and a girl that is cussing out VT. This is fine.
But, but, but, UVA people are so much more classy than everyone everywhere in the history of the world.
On press row??

Correct. It is very quiet all of a sudden.
Good bounce back after the TO. Also at the rate this game is going, it'll be over by 7:30. Never seen a game with this few stoppages
Solid start, but we need Bibbs and Blackshear to get going.
Devin Wilson!!!!!!
DRINKKK
Devin "Steph Curry" Wilson!!
IT'S HAPPENING DOT GIF
YOU GET A 3
YOU GET A 3
YOU GET A 3
YOU GET A 3
YOU GET A 3
Lets keep that up...
Wow - 17-0 run to open a 9 point lead!
WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL YEAR!?
17-0 run! Not sure if I keep watching where they scored be last 9 or turn back Ron charlie Wilson's war where they started the run?
You know what you need to do!
Going back to TiVo.
17-0 run. I thought the ball was supposed to be on fire by now.
Whoever is watching/not watching, keep it that way.
Hopefully we can keep shooting like this. Make UVA adjust how they play defense will open up our offense more.
I like hearing the folks in the crowd cheering our 3point makes...
What was the biggest run UVA has given up so far this season? Guarantee it wasn't 17-0
Did Chris Clark lose a bet? That hair is highly questionable.
He's had it like that for a few games now.
How is that a shooting foul?
Where are the walk calls on UVA's end? I'll give them the one on Blackshear, but you gotta call it both ways.
Sprinkle in a few moving screens
Before Alum07 starts shitting on us, the game has been well officiated, they're just missing little things and we're nit picky assholes. Please don't crucify us.
Yes, overall it's been a very well officiated game.
Goddammit. Stupid foul.
Can someone explain how Clarke WASN'T fouled?
Holy fucking shit. That pass
NAW BABY
Let's finish this
LET'S GO
HOKIES!
Up nine, Buzz talking to sideline reporters like we're down nine. He fucking wants this, and that is dangerous for UVA.
We're a half away from beating UVA
We're a half away from beating UVA when they're a game away from being #1
We're a half away from beating UVA when they're a game away from being #1 on the road
We're a half away from beating UVA when they're a game away from being #1 on the road and they hosted Gameday
To be realistic this shooting has to continue because just as Buzz pointed out, we've had a few boneheaded turnovers while also providing their shooters open looks. The difference right now is UVA can't hit the 3 ball.
If we can keep this up oh my would this be huge shame it's not in Blacksburg for the crowd but I'm worried UVA are gonna start getting calls
If it was in Blacksburg someone would still complain if they stormed the court
Besides a possession or two the last 3 min, thats the best damn defense I've seen us play all year and its not even close.
We've got this. I just ate two steaks and switched beer brands at half. It's gonna be a new winning tradition.
You switched brands... mid game.... With all due respect, what the fuck man/woman???
Wait, you switched beer brands after that half?
I haven't pulled the trigger on the switch yet. You guys are right. We're still good.
Dude, I had a cigar going for the first half. Killed it right about the time our ridiculous run ended. So I promptly lit another one. I'm gonna feel like ass tomorrow, but I ain't gonna risk losing this game by changing a damn thing.
What the fuck is this yet shit?
STEP AWAY FROM THE BEVERAGE!!!
You don't switch when things are going well. You keep on keepin on. You switch when we are sucking.
Now look what you did.
You may now continue with a beverage of your choosing.
Hard to imagine that we will continue shooting at close to 60% and that UVA will continue to be cold from 3 point range... But with as active as the boys have been on D, anything is possible here!
blackshear needs to get better...
he's gotten 3 of our 4 turnovers, 0 points, and only one rebound.
he looks like he is playing too far from the basket. if he'll play closer to the charge circle i think he'll do better
I actually think the smaller lineup was far more effective
Clarke has a better chance of beating his man 1-1 that KJB does.
agreed
Blackshear has been outstanding this season.
but not this game. except when he is down low. I know he's made some three's, but i pull my hair out when he is beyond the 3 point circle. on offense or defense
And there's the defense we are all used to seeing
Well shit.
Well that didn't last long. Brick after brick and giving up wide open looks
Foul on 5 uncalled.
We coming out scared in the 2nd half. WTF is up with all the iso plays.
Embarrassing. Can't blow a lead like that so fast to a team that has trouble scoring. This team sure know how to put on a clinic in blowing big leads.
This UVA team doesn't have trouble scoring.
They were getting the same looks in the first half but didn't hit.
So apparently we switched shooting accuracy this half
Wonder who ESPN wants to win this game
The refs are starting to call everything on us here we go
Quick fixes:
Don't have 4 guys in the paint on defense.
Have someone to at least try for rebounds, especially if Blackshear is jacking up 3s.
Draw fouls.
EDIT: COVER THE FUCKING WHITE GUY
Ha, ESPN and the refs conspiring against us again? No, probably not.
We knew they were going to make a run. Keep playing D. Keep moving the ball. We're ok.
5 is going to have to put the team on his back in the second half if we are going to win.
Why drift down into the paint if you aren't going to double? Stay on Guy
"You can't leave the 3-pt shooter."
But that's what we do.....
Turnovers...
Reckless turnovers. Slipshod ball-handling skills.
Man this team starts playing so sloppy sometimes
sloppy basketball now
Clarke is killing us with turnovers
That last one, he was fouled, but no call.
Big surprise /s.
Chris Clarke single handedly causes my blood pressure to skyrocket.
terrible, reckless, turnovers
Fewer shots starting to fall for us.
Shot selection hasn't been good either.
Those tac glasses look legit
The fohawk was pretty impressive too
You know, I've always been curious about those products. Are they, in fact, #legit??
My wife said the same thing. Pretty impressive commercial. It was also more entertaining than the 5 minute brick fest, but at least we are still tied.
Just my two cents... any commercial that wraps itself in patriotic symbolism usually raises a red flag for me, particularly when the product is mass produced and inexpensive.
In this case, there isn't any mention of where the glasses are made. Under the Bell + Howell organization, the entity 'Emson' is described as an importer of promotional products, television supported, and general merchandise.
Other products imported by Bell + Howell for sale in the US include the TAC line of lights, and the Gotham brand of pots and pans.
Reviews of the TAC glasses on Amazon are mixed (3/5 stars)... "cheap" seems to be a frequent adjective.
Don't get sucked in. The reviews on those things online is that they are cheap plastic garbage. Their schtick is essentially saying they are polarized lenses and having idiots pretend this is some revolutionary concept. Their "it brings color to this picture" is the exact same thing Maui Jim does with their displays in every sunglasses store.
It's okay friends. My Tervis was empty during their 9-0 run but it's freshly refilled. We got this.
Damn in-&-outs.
Seriously. Most over-rated burger chain in the country
Welp as bad as it has been I'm surprised it's still tied
Fuck-dammit that one by Clarke needed to sink.
Fuck damn, wasted opportunity.
what i don't understand is when med or bibbs is in the corner and 5 shoots a 3 from up top, they don't go for the rebound, but they don't go down the court for defense either until the ball starts going down the court
Tears in a bucket, mother fuck it.
I must say... I love how the officials are letting the guys play tonight. Great game by the stripes!
Edit: Alum, now you need to upvote this
I said the exact same thing in the first half of the BC game, before the Teddy V fiasco...
Buzz needs to tell Clarke to calm down...
It's right there. Let's fucking take it.
First one to 50 wins.
Justin Robinson was fouled??
I would have thought we would be down by 10 if you had told me we'd have 40 points with under 7 to play. Defense is on it tonight except the first 4 minutes of the first half and the 9-0 run in the second half.
10 total fouls called in this game. I guess the officials got bored.
Buzz said we needed to take as many shots as they take in the 2nd half. right now we're down by 5.
21%!? Good freakin night!
Well, thanks a lot.
that's why blackshear needs to be down low!!!
Blackshear fouled on the rebound but glad they waited to give him the and 1
KJB with offensive board, the put back and the foul!
Shoulda been about 3 fouls on that. Great effort by KJ.
We aren't spreading the floor on offense quite as well right now
Wilson has been fantastic on D tonight.
Why are they going so slow holy shit!
After a UVA miss we need to be streaking down the floor! Dammit let's go down and get a bucket before they can set up
Thank YOU Mr. Wilson!!!
Edit: last one had a bad word....
First to 50 wins?
Pretty much me right now
remember to breathe, remember to breathe
Devin Wilson is having the senior season he deserves right now. Starting and stepping up to make big plays on both ends.
What a backdoor cut and pass by Wilson and Blackshear! Up 4 with under 90 seconds to go!
ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS BE CLOSING
Blackshear, da fuck you doing with that cheap shit??
Nothing warms my heart more than a disappointed Coach Bennett.
And all the disappointed Wahoo's down in Hooville
60 seconds. Up by 4.
Made them burn the last timeout too. I didn't think they'd be the first to run out after Wilson called one 15 seconds into the half.
Need 1 more bucket to seal.
Can't give up that easy of a drive, come on Hokies let's finish this!
JRob should have fouled early on that last drive. We have fouls to give.
Probably the biggest offensive rebound of the year
that's an understatement
So um does Blackshear shoot 3's normal games?
He was 14/30 coming into the game
Meltdown on the Sabre already in full effect
CHRIS MOTHERFUCKING GODDAMN CLARKE
What happened?
Big time offensive rebound
Big O rebound by Clarke!
Fuck
INBOUND TO JROB
Wow... had this thing put away in regulation.
Choked on that freethrow.
Whelp...there ya have it.
Well that didn't go well there.
What a choke
Fucking sloppy bullshit basketball
REALLY THAT WAS TRAVELING?!
Dang free throw
No one got to 50, so no one wins yet.
My only regret is not having more legs to give.
I can't take this guys...
Way ahead of you!
Technically, that is my line.
Started with some Squatch Ale but moved on to jello shots and coors light. Not helping.
I'm trying.
Continuously
Finding
Ways
To
Lose
We haven't lost yet.
True. But we are, in fact, losing.
Little to no confidence for them to take this in overtime unfortunately
FREE THROWS COME ON.
The win was right fucking there!
3:30 left dude.
I may actually have a fucking coronary tonight. Goddammit.
Overtime you say?
Love that breathe if you don't like UVA sign! Needed that reminder again tonight!
We hit 50 first!
Really no call there?
Yes. Really. ZERO call there. What did you expect?
What is clarke doing.
Yeah, he looked lost out there.
Refs fucking us in overtime after a well called game
Can't give the #1 team in the country two chances to win
The douche level at UVA is ninja
Fucking bullshit. Clarke got all ball
Bibbs with 3!
Fuck.
Hall has hit 3 step back 3s while defended in this game.
Welp
Had this thing in regulation... dang.
You can see it in Clarke's face. They KNOW they fucked it all up.
Could have iced them in regulation and couldn't make'em when they really counted.
REAL teams & REAL winners do that.I stand corrected this time (again). I've zero problem admitting when what I said was inapplicable for the time & eating crow pie.
Come on man. You don't know squat about this teams heart.
That this team won this game proves they have heart.
Yes, I'd have liked to have seen them win it in regulation, and they blew an opportunity there. But they hung in there and won it.
They had it. But this simply isn't a tournament team. Too many mistakes all year long in key moments
Edit: the ole reverse jinx...gets em every time :)
Sorry bud but this was a tournament team before tonight.
So here is our 30 seconds of trading 2's for 2's
Edit: Well, thats new...
2d half three ridiculous compared for the first.
Oh my God.
BLACKSHEARRRRRRRRRRRRRr
Whaaaaaat!!!???
that's what happens when Blackshear is under the basket
HO LEE FUCK
I hate UVA fans.
Think you mean Fan.
AND OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Hahahahahahaahahahaa
Fam that's why you play the game
Correction: I am definitely having a coronary tonight.
Drink it in, makes it better
And NO, drinking does very much NOT make it better.
I finished the last of my ORIGINAL beers just as we won. LETS GO HOKIES!!!
I retract all my previous statements...LET'S GO!!
Hokies!
FAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT SHOT SELECTION HAHAHAHAHAHAH
Unfucking believable !
FAAAAAAAAM

I LOVE YALL
FAM.
Oh baby....everyone make some babies tonight!
I hope all the fullers watched tonight
OMGWTFWOW!
FAM! Someone please call me a cardiologist.
I missed the comeback... Worth it
Every time I turned away from the game for the baby, they went on a run. I went to tend to the kid when the Hoos scored the 60th.... Next thing I saw Blackshear missed that last free throw when we were up
What happened!
The refs were just awful, terrible, badddd.
I saw with a minute left in regulation, if you added up foul totals for both teams in both halves, neither would be in the bonus.
It was like a purists wet dream
Glad you realized the sarcasm, I actually thought it was a great game by the officials. Let them play ball.
Holy shit!!!
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahah
What happened!! Did we win!?!?
So early in the thread I started with a semi-negative comment about me not believing we could win.
I'll make sure to do that every thread now.
YEAHHHHH!!!!
FIRST TO 50 WINS IT
And I was oh so close....

you May want to remove this picture. I believe it triggers some companies IT software as well as not the most appropriate to see at work.
understandable.
Defense and Bibbs, Naw and WILSON?!? Combining for 27 points compared to 10 in the last game
We beat loluva by more points than fans at their spring game or festival or whatever they call it!
FAM Y'ALL
HOO FARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
