New SB Nation Mock Draft as Tim Settle as a 2nd rounder

https://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2018/2/12/17002090/2018-nfl-mock...

If this holds true, Settle will look much smarter than a bunch of folks who mocked him. Generally I am not as big a fan of SB Nation. But, I have maintained all along that the more NFL GMs watch film on Settle, they will fall more and more in love with him. He has to find the right fit (a 40 front one gap defensive team) and he has to show up for the combine in great shape and convince scouts he will take the work needed to be great mantra seriously. I believe he is a first round talent and scouts will salivate at his potential and productivity.

Good to see another bullish outlook on his talent that we all know he has. Show strong and impress Timmy!

I would love for the Packers to get Timmy.

That would be a fantastic fit. We need a strong interior lineman, and with his size he'd immediately be able to make an impact (no pun intended).

Raji 2.0!

Using /s is for cowards.

As a Packers fan I'd love that, but he doesn't fit our 3-4. He's a one gap, penetrate, and disrupt DT, and we need two gap guys to eat up blocks and keep our linebackers clean. Instead, I'm selfishly hoping Tremaine slips to us because we need more athleticism at LB (and more Hokies on the Packers in general)

To your last point, doesn't it seem like every team in the North grabs up loads of former Hokies except the Pack?

EDIT: within the last few seasons** Pretty sure Boykin was the most recent and that was what, three or four seasons ago? Love Freeman, but that was over two decades ago when he won his ring

He was Favre's favorite target for a number of years and got a ring with the Packers.

Aaron Rouse. David Clowney. Jarrett Boykin.

Yeah, I meant on the current team if that wasn't clear. Boykin was the last if you don't count Jerod spending some time on our practice squad last year

I agree. Tim doesn't fit as a 3-4.

Man, it would be nice to see the Eagles trade down, get him and have him lined up next to Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, and Brandon Graham for the next couple years.

But that might not be fair for the QBs of the NFC East

Dang they got Tremaine going #9 overall. I had no idea the kid is still only 19 YEARS OLD and about to be drafted.

10 would be much better in my biased opinion so I have an excuse to get a new jersey...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I've seen more and more people really high on Tim. I will admit that while I fully supported his decision, I didn't think he would go very high and thought it would've been safer to wait a year. I really hope he proves us all wrong in the best way possible.

Also, how hilarious is it that Tremaine will have played a full season of NFL football before his 21st birthday.

I cannot wait to go back on r/cfb and say I told you so to u/BOO00M after he said the decision was "just really dumb" because he won't get much guaranteed money as a 6th rounder.

Who would've thought Tim would have access to more information than fans?

I've gotten into so many arguments with that guy on r/cfb, once over Tim, another time over Terrell Edmunds, another time he was trying to argue that Nick Saban is not a great defensive mind, and that he never develops talent. He thinks Tim will be cut before the season starts after being drafted very late.

So he's an LOLUVA fan?

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Until I see him get drafted in the 2nd round I'm still holding back. We got burned too badly last year to trust anyone.

This is true as well. I am not sure where he goes. He could fly up and down the board depending on how he acts at the combine and his pro day.

edit: nm someone named a mocker above..

go Tim!

told folks they were sleeping on Tims draftability this year. Although I think some was just fans buthurt. Cant teach 345lbs and agile

I think his agility is what stands out most to the Special Teams scouts. To have the momentum of Vince Wilfork and the talent of Martin Gramatica in his prime is going to result in a long, successful kicking career.

I think his punt return skills will bump him up in the draft.
