Tech has a really good chance to repeat as tourney champs. We have 4 #1 seeds and 2 #2 seeds. A good link for brackets and general info. You can stream through watchespn, finals are at 7.
So far, B.C LaPrade lost in the opening round, but Ryan Blees looked dominate as a #3 seed in his opening bout winning 16-4.

Andrew dunn got screwed out of a win
Yea, I agree. But he was lucky to even have been that close to a win. Was about to get teched before the throw.
Sometimes you gotta risk it for the biscuit
Dunn has a long way to go. Hope he gets there.
That annoying NC State fan is there and very vocal...
Yeah can someone ban him please
Brett Moore is kicking Headlees ass
The semi's are basically just a repeat of the NC State duel meet.
Basically
Anybody know the team scores?
Team Results Tech currently in first.
Good stuff thanks. I'll follow a little more closely now that the Basketball game is over.
Blees with a huge win!
Tech had a really good semi's. Only dropped one!
Expect NCSU to close the gap in the consi semi
Hokies just have to find a way to get their hands raised in the finals and they have it.
Whee are the finals Televised? Cant find them!
You can get a live tracker here: www.trackwrestling.com
Search for ACC championship
State only won one 3rd place out of many. One left to go. It will be decided in the finals but VT goes in with a lead.
Thank you and good!
VT has 7 wrestlers in finals. State has 5. There are 3 head to head matches. Tech leads by 4 points. Not sure how the scoring is done but I like the odds.
Its good!
Gus with a hell of a win!
Moore with the HUGE upset of Jack!
That was amazing! Nice shout-out to the crowd also!
Beat Jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blees drops a tough one.
To who?
McFadden wins, takes it home.
McFadden just worked Finesilver to an easy Major Decision. I really don't know how they didn't award him the two near fall points there on the edge of the mat early.
Bolen v Ramos is a heck of a match.
Ramos is kind of a beast, and is very aggressive.
Edit: Ramos pulled it out.
Eat Shit Pitt! Just because!
ZZ not rocking the neon shoes. Maybe he is saving them for the NCAAs.
VT!
Haught wins.
I don't know anything about wrestling, but that was a hell of a match. Several overtimes.
Hooray! ACC Champions
That back to back ACC Wrestling Championship feeling

So what's the NCAA outlook? Do we have enough wrestlers to compete for #1 or is the ceiling a podium appearance?
Edit: Looks like from the recap we have 8 automatic qualifiers; I just don't know how that translates to points in an individual format. Is there a scenario where all our wrestlers "win" but are still not #1 as a team?
Nope. A top 5 finish would be great. Likely a top 10 though this year. No chance we break into the top 3 and likely we will never see a first place finish in wrestling.
Edit: We do hve enough wrestlers for a first place finish, but the talent gap between Ohio State and Penn State and the rest of the field is huge. Penn State has backup wrestlers that could probably win the NCAAs in their weight classes if they were able to qualify.
Also yes. You get bonus points for big wins and pins. So you could theoretically win every match and all individual championships and not get first. The other team could get bonus points in every match and lose in the finals while our team win every match without bonus points.
Thanks for answering it both ways, that is what I was looking for. Thank you!
I'd like to see us get another guy or 2 into the finals this year, Haught and Mcfadden are the most likely possibilities.
Agreed it would be a huge accomplishment to have an individual national champion. As others have said, a team title or even trophy probably aren't realistic this year. The gap between the top few schools and everyone else is massive.
