Here's the kicker... I was watching ESPN last night and Greenberg was taking Lunardi to absolute task about Notre Dame. Anyway, long story short, Lunardi says that ND is in the tournament with wins over Pitt and VT, but if they lose either, they're out.
So thinking ahead, what does that mean for us? I know we'd like to think a win over ND would help our resume, but would it? If our win knocks them out, is the committee going to hold it against us that we didn't beat enough tournament teams. But then Lunardi goes to say that a ND win over Pitt and VT are going to be "easily accomplished".
Seems like we're going into a Lose-Lose game with ND. Win the game, people will dismiss it. Lose the game, and it'll be proof we're not at the level some of our peers are.

A post about how VT is in a "lose-lose" situation and Lunardi is to blame. Shocking. Now I'm just waiting for the part where the Illuminati gets involved.

ND is about to get fined out the ass by OSHA (not to mention there will probably be lawsuit from the family). Cant operate any lifts/crane/swing stages with sustained winds above 25 mph according to OSHA, and this is precisely why.
I've been on the side of a building in 20 mph winds and thats scary enough, let alone a lift in 40+. At least if the wind gets you on a building, you're tied off to a safety line.

Pitt is bad, Kevin Stallings and the Pitt administration (and student body) should feel bad.
Sure bet that wish they had found a way to keep Dixon, or at least, hire someone more promising than Stallings before he was going to fired by Vandy anyways.
E$PN match up predictor gives Pitt a 4% chance to win. That seems aggressively high.

I think Stallings is a mediocre coach and a turd of a man. But, that said, they were loaded with seniors last year and just loaded up with young kids this year and gave the season away. It's kinda like Buzz' season 1, where we played Hill/Bibbs/Pierce/Hudson a lot and went 2-16. We won an ACC-T game (an 11-14 game since Syracuse wasn't eligible).
Maybe because Stallings yells a lot and smells like farts, he won't get the time to rebuild this team. But what they are doing this year is at least somewhat strategic. They are playing like 6 freshmen this year.

Seems more from necessity than strategic, half the team is freshmen or JC transfers...
But, they have been getting thumped all season long. Two home games in ACC play were decided by ~5 points, the rest were absolute blow outs.
BC did this a few years too, at the start of Christian's tenure, overhaul the entire roster and bring a bunch of unheralded recruits as freshman and spend the season seeing who can play. You said it though,
he won't get the time to rebuild this team
More realistically, Stallings will get canned this season, the recruits that performed might transfer out and the new coaching staff will get restart a rebuild, 2 years delayed.

I like how we've played against ND the last few years. We almost beat them in 2016, had a ball in the air in their gym that would have won it. And last year, we fell apart in the last few minutes but it was a fun game. We really handled them this year except for a section in the 2nd half where they couldn't miss.
Our game is going to get a lot of attention. Let's welcome that, hit some shots and win a game that gets us some momentum.

Would like to see Pitt drive to the basket more, and run the floor. They need to at least soften up Notre Dame for the Hokies. This jacking up of the three ball is going to get Colson on the bench for the last 10 minutes of the game when they get a 40 point lead.

Man, you'd hate to see what people are using here at the national lab... (Hint: I know only two or three people who don't have macs, and most of them are over 55)

My in-laws have androids. I haven't figured them out yet. Me with an Android is like PC-me with a Mac - "I don't know what to do with my hands 👐". Sent from my iPhone.
But isn't an iPhone an iPhone, whereas an Android is an operating system?

About 6 of us in my office are building on doing both an NCAA and NIT brackets last year and now have done an ACC, SEC, and A-10(since its in DC and our boss is a Mason guy) Tourney brackets. Nothing crazy, $20 for the NCAA, $10 for NIT, 5$ for the rest.
A great way to extend the fun and neat to actually have a reason to pick rooting interests in every game!

Three big things standing out to me. Bonzie Colson looks extremely out of shape, I feel like ND is putting a lot more minutes on their guys than expected, and Matt Farrell rolled his ankle a bit which could definitely make a difference tomorrow.

People act like Notre Dame's already won this game. If Google's right, sure they're up 12 with 3:03 to play but it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!
That said, let's hope they're so tired from this game we can sit most of our guys in the second half!

ND win by 3, Pitt hits 3 just before the clock ran out. ND had to play starters a LOT. Colson was 5-14 w 5 missed 3 pointers. He was 9-10 from the line. ND as a team shot 84% from the line on 31 (!!) attempts (vs 11 for Pitt). So, yes we don't want those refs tomorrow. Hope ND is exhausted.

I'm gonna be in Blacksburg tomorrow night on business. Haven't been at the bars since the 80s. I need a recommendation for a good place to drink beer and watch the game.
Any thoughts?

I agree with Hokie House. PK's might not be a bad place, its big enough that it shouldn't be too crowded and you can get pizza to go with the beer. Good news is they are right next to each other so you can move from one to the other if they are either too dead or too crowded. Big Al's will have the game on, but its a little small and you would need a table to get a good view of the game.

I thought about starting the ACC tournament thread this morning, but I knew I wouldn't be able to put together such a comprehensive rooting guide.
TL;DR
TL;DR what? What's the summary?
yep, that was the joke

Don't be an idiot. The Illuminati is always involved. /s
I'm guessing that VT wins are good.
That's the way I see it, anyway.
This is a high quality edit
better conveys the tone
in reality though, the refs are to blame /s
Brian Kelly killed a kid
That is all.

That new story was from 7.5 years ago.
Oh, good. I was thinking, "Shit, another one?"
Haha Well, I guess that's what I get for reading on my phone and not looking at dates. I don't read too good.
To be fair, it mentioned a wind storm and it was super fucking windy this weekend.
This may keep them out of the Big Ten.
Bonzie is back...and Pitt has yet to win a game in conference play. Pitt just lost to the Irish last week...by 17? Pitt needs a miracle.
March is made for Miracles
That would be the most Pitt thing ever. Lose all conference games and start winning in the ACC Tourney.
They aren't good, but they do love to spoil it for everyone else.
I'm not sure Pitt has it in them to spoil anything for anyone this year. They are historically bad.
And I'm quite enjoying it!
They tried their best
Pitt is bad, Kevin Stallings and the Pitt administration (and student body) should feel bad.

Only 2% less than they gave us to beat UVA...
I actually want ND. VT has shown mostly solid play down the stretch. Give us ND at full strength and maybe make a run here in the ACC tourney.
I don't want to duck anyone, and something tells me Buzz ain't skkrrd of anyone.
I like how we've played against ND the last few years. We almost beat them in 2016, had a ball in the air in their gym that would have won it. I welcome ND, as long as VT wins.
Problem is that we don't know the answer yet.
VT is 9th in Bovada odds to win the tourney at 30:1.
I like it, we always do better as the underdog.
BC is in the process of blowing a huge lead with under 4 to go.
Pitt is doing about as much as you can ask of an 0-18 team. Hopefully they can keep game pressure on ND for 30+ minutes.

Bonzie is the Hunch Back of Notre Dame.

That guy loves his colored pens...
please tell me our coach don't have an android! #cruitinproblems
We're a technology school. If you want Apple, go to a libby arts school where the IT guys handle all the technobabble and app doohickeys for you
I have to deal with both where I work. It's a LOT easier dealing with problems on an Android than with an iPhone.
IDK, this seems like a pretty easy solution to Apple problems.
I went to a liberal arts school...at Virginia Tech. My MacBook and iPhone were just fine.
Man, you'd hate to see what people are using here at the national lab... (Hint: I know only two or three people who don't have macs, and most of them are over 55)
Looks like an iPhone with a mophie case...hopefully.
That's what were gonna do today? Fight about Android and Apple?
#teamAndroid

But isn't an iPhone an iPhone, whereas an Android is an operating system?
Right, the OS for the iPhone is iOS, which also the OS for iPads and iPod touch. Android is an OS for phone and tablets.
And nearly every manufacturer is willing to work with the Android OS to get a product out. Only Apple will touch iOS. /s
Here are (conspiracy theorist) revelations I had yesterday after hearing about ND needing to win to get in.
1) If the league wants to give them the best chance to get in the NCAA tourney by beating us, we'll get beat unless we completely destroy them.
2) The winner of our game WILL NOT beat Duke. The league won't chance Duke losing a possible 2 seed in the NCAA tourney.
c) I don't trust the ACC.
I might be crazy, but it doesn't mean I'm wrong.
I'm not completely on board with #illuminati, but the calls going for Notre Dame in this game look awfully suspect.
I don't believe in Sasquatch, but I see one in my front yard...
Samsquanchs exist Leonard, trust me.
Oh yeah. I watched the one season of "Finding Samsquanch". It got cancelled cause they found you.
Note to self wear shirt in the backyard again. They might be onto me.
Leonard, are you in the front yard with a mirror?
Hahaha.
Best Yo' Mama joke I ever heard-
Yo' mama is so hairy, Bigfoot takes pictures of her.

Notre Dame is playing like they've expected Pitt to have just gone away by now. No FGs for 7 minutes, giving up easy drives.
After watching this ND game, I feel like Chris Clarke could take the game over if he puts his head down and drives.
I hope these won't be the same refs tomorrow...
Three big things standing out to me. Bonzie Colson looks extremely out of shape, I feel like ND is putting a lot more minutes on their guys than expected, and Matt Farrell rolled his ankle a bit which could definitely make a difference tomorrow.

6 point game w 2 minutes left
3 pt game w 1:30 left
2 pt game w 40 sec left
Rats, Pitt turnover with 12 seconds left, ND timeout, ND by 4.
Great, now Colson is going to have a triple-double against us.
Yeah, glad he got that bad game out of his system. /s
Screw the worry! The fighting nobodies barely beat Pitt
Let's knock them on their ass tomorrow!!
I have truly enjoyed our Hokies this season, but consistent they ain't. This has to change now. One game at a time, 1-0, let's show ND the NIT door.
Are we only talking Day 1 games?
Because I just bought a new pair of socks.
Nice!!!! I am almost rooting for your socks ( Fuck UVA) to lose more than us to win. I am not sure we can win the tournament, and would rather get a second round in the the next tournament than this. I do not want a title for the socks.
Care to toss a link out for the rest of us to upgrade our sock game?

Hokie House!
yes. Michelob Ultra
Yes ^^^^^. What Shoog said. Life's too short for bad beer.
I agree with Hokie House. PK's might not be a bad place, its big enough that it shouldn't be too crowded and you can get pizza to go with the beer. Good news is they are right next to each other so you can move from one to the other if they are either too dead or too crowded. Champs is the only right answer to this question.
I don't recommend Hokie House like some have said. I went there to watch our football game against Clemson this year and they didn't even have the sound on for either floor.
The Barclays Center?
...am I doing this right?
I'm not sure it qualifies on the drink beer front. The game on the other hand. . .
IT'S GAME DAY...LET'S GO......
HOKIES!!!
HO-KIES!!! Let's GET 'EM! Brang this bad boi on home! YEA!
11-0 starts TODAY!!!!
I'm posting a little late, but here was the NY Post's preview for Pitt:

Savage
He graduated a couple years ago
Oh wow, haha that's brutal.
