I have only one comment
Herbstreet blows donkey cock.
First he rip us for not playing anybody, then tells us that Alabama should be considered because of tradition WTF is that?
Agree
Big ol' donkey cock!
Its funny that "we don't play anybody," yet our SOS is 27th.
Bama - 23rd
Arkansas - 65th
Stanford - 79th
Okie St - 20th
Oklahoma - 11th
K State - 13th

The ACC as a whole needs to step up their game to change this perception amongst talking heads who don't bother to do any research.
Don't get this...
Though UVA needs to be first and foremost on players minds, we as fans can speculate a bit and I do not understand something: at the beginning of the year, Herby pretty much said at the CFB Roundtable our schedule was a good idea considering breaking in LT3 and playing the nation's toughest schedule over a eight year period by far (OOC: #1 USC, #2 LSU, #3 Boise State, #16 Nebraska #20 Texas A&M; ACC Sched: #2 BC, #3/5/7 Miami, #9/10/21 Clemson, #11 Georgia Tech (twice), etc). AND he had us as a dark horse top five-ten team (which is exactly what we are- nice pick). Now he bashes VT for not beating anyone (I guess beating GT who embarrassed Clemson wasn't good enough). What about Florida in their Natty years? SEC competition was tough sure, but their OOC included Charleston-Southern, Alabama-Birmingham, and some other Sun Belt/D1-AA powerhouses. Hell Bama played a D1-AA LAST WEEKEND- Georgia Southern! Not going to debate rankings but how short is his memory?
My career advice to Herby, for what its worth: shut the fuck up, take your mouth and tounge off SEC's balls...clean off the loose hairs... and go be OSU's QBs coach because ESPN has apparently destroyed your television career- unless he went to CBS Sports.

It could happen again.
As much as I want us to go to the National Championship Game, and I want it so bad, I feel that LSU or Alabama would embarrass us on a national stage. If we go to the Orange Bowl we can crush a Big East team and maybe make up for what happened last year.
I would
rather play and at least have the opportunity to win an NC than just settle for an Orange Bowl. In college football it truly is all or nothing!!!
Agreed
If we go to the Orange Bowl and face the Big East champion, it's almost a lose-lose situation (aside from the obvious monetary benefits...). The current Big East leaders are Rutgers and Louisville. Win that game and it impresses no one. Lose that game...
the teams ahead of us
Have big-time games ahead...so I say let's root for Auburn and Oklahoma...
I'd also root for LSU over Arkansas, don't see any way the reverse helps us.
Clemson really screwed things up for the ACC...
100% agree
Although I can't honestly say I think we're one of the top 2 teams in the country this year, I'll always hope for the opportunity to make the NC game whether we deserve it or not.
Now let's stop fussing about this. It's too early and it's distracting. We need to take care of business and see what happens.
As far as these rankings go, they don't matter. Our game is a one game season. Win or go home. The only game that matters is our game against UVA. That is what Virginia Tech can control: the outcome of the UVA game. We must be focused entirely on UVA and nothing else. That is our season.
Lsu beats Arkansas handily Friday
Oklahoma beats Boone t Pickems U
Auburn beats Alabama
Hokies crush Hoos
hokies crush Clemson
Stanford some how loses again
Lsu wins SEC champ game
Hokies Tigers Round 3 I'm January
Stanford
only has ND left, which they should win... Stanford is currently 7 pt favorites.
An unlikely scenario: If Oregon State beats Oregon, then Stanford will play Utah, UCLA, or ASU in the PAC-12 championship game. I don't think Stanford would lose that game...
It may not matter, as VT's strength of schedule is currently and should still be better than Stanford's. If Clemson beats South Carolina, and VT wins out, they will most definitely be ahead of Stanford. If South Carolina stomps on Clemson, then it may get real dicey...
No Faith in Auburn...
No way I see that happening. So I'm not counting on VT getting in the Championship.
What I really would like to see is Arkansas beat LSU, then I think the chaos will really begin. How will the pollsters rank Bama Arkansas and LSU then? And better yet, the pollsters will decide WHO will get to go to the SEC championship game (which may or may not be ideal...). The tiebreaker will go to the top ranked team in the BCS rankings, UNLESS the team that beat them head-to-head is within 5 spots in the BCS rankings. As it is shaping up, this will GUARANTEE the top ranked BCS team WILL NOT play in their conference championship.
Then question becomes, if the SEC West team that goes to the SEC championship wins, will the pollsters change their ranking from the previous week? How will they decide which SEC team(s) get into the championship game?
And the worst part of the BCS system is one of these teams won't even get to play in a BCS game, due to the BCS rules which only allows 2 teams from one conference in the BCS games. (I think they changed this rule, starting 2012-2013 season...)
If Arkansas beats LSU, we will have a scenario of THREE SEC teams (likely ranked 1-3 in the BCS rankings) that deserve to go to the SEC championship game, but only one will. Only two of the teams will get to the BCS Championship game. And one team won't even play in any BCS game. And all this won't be decided on the field, but by putting a number next to a team...
The Iron Bowl
Has no rules. Two teams enter, one team leaves. They burn libraries and cause earthquakes in this game. Everything goes.
As for the deserving...there is a lot of football left. Remember 2 days ago? A lot can change on a Saturday afternoon. The etch artist hasn't even started skrawling anything yet...
Obviously, Tech needs to be 100% focused on beating uva and then clemson, but thats up to the coaches and players and not us fans. Based on what I've seen from David Wilson and Josh Oglesby on twitter the past few days, I don't think the focus on beating uva will be an issue.
As for us fans, I think we obviously need to pull for Auburn over Alabama and Oklahoma over Okie State. In the LSU-Arkansas game, I think we need to cheer for LSU to win big and drop Arkansas out of the top 4. It would be nice if Notre Dame could knock off Stanford, but I don't see that happening. I don't know how the divisions work in the PAC 12, would Stanford play Oregon for the championship? If thats the case, an Oregon win would be nice as I don't see them jumping us from 10th.
As excited as I was yesterday when I realized we could back ourselves into the national championship, the bottom line is the only thing we can control is beating uva and clemson, so lets enjoy the rest of the season and let the cards fall where they may. GO HOKIES!
I think we can hang with LSU
If thats what it comes down to. Hell, look how Western Kentucky managed to stick around for an entire half, before a couple costly turnovers blew open the game? Logan is Much Better than AJ McCarron, and our recievers are a lot better than Bama's, and our defense is a bit stronger than Oregons. I Think we actually matchup pretty well against a team like LSU this year. Especially because it's a big game and you know that anything can happen in 60 minutes.
food for thought
Could their front 7 be that much better than UNC? I really have no idea but doesn't seem likely to me. I suppose they could be much better coached, but I agree- LT3 is a good matchup.
My thoughts
Arkansas beats Lsu
Auburn beats Alabama
Oklahoma beats Oklahoma state
Georgia beats Arkansas in sec championship
Hokies win out and play .... In the nc
In this scenario sec bitches about conference strength because non of their teams is in the nc
FUCK CLEMSON!!!

only scenario
The only scenario I see is getting these 1-loss teams ahead of us to 2-losses .. I don't care who they are. No one is going to have the balls to put a 2-loss team into the NCG, regardless of whether they think the team is better than VT or not...That being said, all that needs to happen:
LSU beats Arky (giving Arky two losses)
OU beats OKSt (giving Okey St two losses)
Auburn beats Bama (giving Bama two losses)
VT wins out
I don't think that Stanford will jump us -- though voters would LOVE to keep VT out. The only scenario I can see where Stanford gets in is if all of the above happens and they play for and win the PAC ... but there is 2% chance in hell that Oregon loses to Oregon St.
I think that all of those things are VERY realistic .. Auburn beating Bama probably the most doubtful -- but it is the Iron Bowl .. I'm a little torn but I'd much rather see VT playing LSU in the NCG than some bullshit Orange Bowl against the BE champ...If we could play and at least give LSU a good game, it would be a win for us -- I'm ready for VT to get a little respect back and playing a joke-of-a-bigeast-champ in the Orange Bowl won't do that.
