Is anybody reading these stats? Is it worth the 1/2 hour it takes me to put this together?
Indiana basically plays their starters the whole game unless someone gets in foul trouble. They have not been challenged at all in this tournament. After initial few minutes, they have led every game by increasing margins as the game continued. Won the five games by 24, 20, 22, 15 and 13.
They look a lot like VT. They shoot well from three; but they also shoot 51% overall. They only average 6 made threes per game on 16 attempts; so I think most of their game is inside. They get fouled a lot and shoot a lot of foul shots, maybe because the other team has been overmatched. They also foul a lot, with 3 starters averaging over 2.5 fouls per game. Very balanced scoring with four of the starters averaging double figures and the fifth at 9.2PPG. If they are that much better than the competition, this is going to be a very challenging game for the Hokies. Hopefully, they just got the easy side of the bracket.

It's on CBSSprorts channel. And the announcers are terrible. Already called us WEST Virginia twice.
Sounds like a good (home) crowd. One of these refs is the female TV. She really likes to ham it up on the calls.

She did note that the refs are "letting them play" after one of players got hammered.
It was fun to watch a VT basketball team consistently rebound, but the turnovers were way too much to overcome. The moment seemed too big for the girls at times. It definitely looks like the women's basketball team is trending in right direction though.

I don't want to sound like I am complaining about the refs; but they had a big impact in this game. I think they were consistent; but they let a lot of things go. And I think that favored Indiana. Indiana was much more physical and did a lot of reaching in for the ball. A lot of the Tech turnovers were on reach ins. In a more tightly called game, I think Indiana has foul problems and Tech shoots a lot of foul shots.
But overall, we did not shoot well and the defense was soft. And that is what cost us the game.
Next year in the NCAA we'll do better.
