I read on Twitter that Quincy Patterson is deciding to take time away from Football to focus on School. Can someone embed the tweet for me.
April Fools!
Don't do that to me
Bro if I learned anything it's that we can't call it Virginia Tech " University " gotta just say Virginia Tech ๐ got called out on it twiceโ Quincy Patterson II (@quincy_qb1) April 1, 2018 " target="_blank">
QP with the PSA
Unless you're making the classic "University of Virginia......TECH!" gotcha.
This offends me. Why can students not learn our name. It should only every be tweeted as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Look what you made me do TKP, now I have to go tweet at some croots.
Shoulda stuck with our original VPI logo where we put the P in the V, if you know what I mean
That logos still on one of the flags on Lane
I like to believe that the guys shirt in the second row says FAM
What about here in Pennsylvania? Should we be putting the P in the A?
That didn't work out to well in Happy Valley.
Don't @ them, bro.
ugh.... if people are tweeting these kids to correct them then that is cringe worthy fan material.... pick the good guys, learn the name once you're here. phucking priorities people...

Any news on Demarco? I know he was in town this past weekend but not sure how much of a shot we have with him.
Bryan Hudson and Khalid Martin with CBs with Martin getting one from Watkins. Howard Cross leaning towards Duke according to his CBs. It will be interesting to see how this safety class pans out with a few really solid prospects that seem high on us.
Cross told VT that it's down to VT, Duke, and Northwestern with a VT visit coming this weekend. He's very big on academics, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to overcome Duke and NW. Honestly, I think he's overranked because of his lineage, but I don't think he would be a bad take at DT.
Speaking of top 10 NJ players, what's up with NyQuee Hawkins?
All good.
I respect the shit out of any kid who chooses based on academics.
You know who has good academics?

And if Dax would have chose Stanford over us because he wanted one of the best educations available I would have understood. If he would have chose UNC to be with his girlfriend or Clemson to play their golf simulator...well then that's not a smart decision.
I am not high on Cross. I don't think he is a great fit.
Counter-point: If he's that great of an athlete he'll find a place to fit / JF would make it work.
Travon McMillian is a great athlete...
...that found the wrong place to fit.
He was recruited as a QB and then made into an RB that worked well under Lefty but not under Corny.
If we did this right with Beamer, he never would've been put into this situation in the first place, but we were lacking depth and needed to place him somewhere sooooo...
He did pretty good in Fu's 1st season.
Couldn't pass protect to save his life and couldn't find the gaps. Also couldn't be used as a 3rd down back to catch out of the backfield
When he had a straight shot he could run fast, but that's rarely the case with our OL this past few years.
I'm much more high on McClease.
He had quite a bit of those in our biggest games (against Tenn and Arky as just 2 examples). Led all backs. From my perspective, the main purpose of a player at the TB position is to score and pick up yds. Blocking and other stuff comes second and tertiary.
Glad you're high on Clease. I'm high on Ford (if he comes here).
But muh system!!
Unfortunately that can't be the case in any system not named PJ's Option Scheme. Even in the NFL you need to know how to pass-protect. Long gone are the days that RBs just need to take the hand-off and run with it and not worry about anything else. Pass-blocking is a primary responsibility for RBs these days. Heck if it wasn't true then Ryan Williams would've played as a true frosh, for example.
I agree with the 1st part & (to an extent) the 2nd. The part where I differentiate off from your point, is that positive yds get you closer to pts (from a TB & rushing perspective). When you get the pts, the yds typically follow. That's why I'll never concede or buy into the philosophy that the runningback responisbility is 1st) pass + run blocking & 2nd) gaining yds + pts.
I wouldn't say a running back has responsibilities ranked higher than the other. You have to be a well rounded player in our system to play there. If you can't block well but you can run, you are just as useful as a player who can block but not run well. You are only able to handle certain plays which handcuffs the offense. Their 1st responsibility is to be able to handle their role on any given play. The more effective you are at each responsibility, the more likely you are to see playing time.
I agree with this.
I think the disconnect is that i'm not indicating it's the first responsibility (blocking) and actually running the ball is secondary. They are both primary.
Well if you're saying they are equal to each other in the running back role, then yes, I would have to disagree (respectfully). I give an edge (but not an astronomical one) to pts & yds vs blocking (for the RB role).
I think that would be splitting hairs then.
In any case, Tmac couldn't do the blocking very well at all, hence JF's distrust to use him as an all-down back. If that's the case and you couldn't do (for arguments sake) 50% of your job well at all, then that would be an issue.
If your assigning 50% or greater importance to the responsibility of blocking, yes.
In principle I agree. I, on the other hand (& I recognize and acknowledge that I'm just a fan & not the coach), assign a greater value to pts & yds for the RB role. For discussion's sake, to quantify, I would assign a value of 75% for pts & yds (I include ball security and catching in this umbrella too), 20% for blocking & 5% misc/intangibles.
If you were miserable at 25% of your job description at work, you are not likely to be employee of the month. When a player is not well rounded, they become a role player. Role players can be effective, but they can also severely handcuff an offensive system. This could be why TMac had better results w/ Lefty than in Fuente's systematic offense.
I hear what you're saying & I agree with that last part. This is where I feel (personally) that Fuente could've tweaked or expanded his system (everso slightly) to get the maximum results from TMac. Gotta be able to improvise.
The problem is TMac was flawed in the previous system too.
He was - and is - a flawed back who was below average at most key RB skills.
He was the best runner we had since 2011.
yea not really saying much about our other talent.
No he wasn't. There were at least 3 or 4 better backs since 2011 who couldn't get past injuries. And that's not including the current roster.
Regardless, he was still a very flawed back from day 1 who was average to below average at most key RB skills.
Really? If you think Fuente hasn't tweaked his system to fit our personnel scheme then you are out of touch with reality. Even worse if you think Lefty did it more than Fuente. I'm on board with saying Lefty was a great OC despite the haters in our fan-base, but Fuente has done that in spades relative to what he did in Memphis too.
Not super high on him either, but I like him ok. I would take Logan Cash and Mario Kendricks over Cross every day of the week though.
shame on you
Wooooooooow, typical crossfit bro, always has to bring crossfit into the conversation.
Typical Vegan... always trying to out do the cross fit people.
Atheists chuckle at how quiet crossfitters and vegans are about their passions.
I think atheists' responses would be nonexistent.
I wonder how many times an atheist has to qualify the statement "I'm atheist." Like, do people assume they said "I'm a theist" and then start asking them about the concept of a watchmaker god? #deepthoughts
I will be happy to field all questions on the topics
Want some of my vegan tendies?
Resisting the urge to reeee at this.
Reeee-gurgitate my vegan tendies so you can enjoy them a second time?
Saw a report that Kevin Pyne, nephew of the great Jim Pyne, will be taking an unofficial visit today. 247 lists him as 6'-8.5", 275 lb OT, class of 2020. Pretty impressive offer list thus far.
Another 5* OL visiting.
Vice is recruiting his ass off
Just need him to close his ass off
What is, things my wife says when I fart too much?
I feel like you went with the PG joke in this situation lol. I respect it.
I think Pyne sat out all of last year at Millis, I assume it was due to an injury. The kid was 6'6" as a freshman, so it wouldn't surprise me if he had some leg/knee problems by growing that big that fast. I know he didn't play against my son's team in the MA playoffs, and I thank God for that. My son (a non-aggressive 6'3", 215 who is going to play D-III baseball next year) would have been across the line from him on both offense and defense, and it wouldn't have been pretty.
Jeeezee... tell us what you really think about your child...
But props to him for playing baseball in college. that's great.
Ha ha, he's a great kid that I love dearly, my last of 7. I'm not one of those annoying parents who thinks that my kids can do no wrong, or who plasters their accomplishments all over Facebook. While he loved football and played three years of Pop Warner and four years of high school football, he would be the first to admit that football is not his best sport. He did win his school's "JV Defensive Player of the Year"...as a junior. So, he's got that going for him. Let's just say that French would have a field day reviewing his football tape, and my son would be cracking up laughing right beside him.
Baseball is another story. He's the only one of my kids to play a sport at the next level, so I am very proud of him. He was actually recruited by this college pretty hard, so it was interesting to go through that experience with him.
"For a defensive end, you look like one heck of a D3 baseball prospect"- French
-Michael Scott
Congrats to your son, but the thing that stood out to me is the number 7! My twins are plenty for me, so I tip my hat good sir.
First 6 must not have been that great. If at first you don't succeed...
Good grief get off of your wife already.
seeing as his last is going to college, I think he's got that covered...
you never know, maybe he's shooting blanks
We're divorced now, and I've been shooting blanks since she was pregnant with #7, so yeah, got that covered.
Yikes! Awkward.

What's going on in the recruiting thre....
Nailed it
Stop tryna speak that dam truth!
CapeHokie: "...my last of 7."
HokieFireman: "Hold my beer..."
Let's all sing along (psst, right click and search google for image):

And is currently only a Sophomore...
Are we sure we want him playing football or should Buzz recruit him for some height?
Wait, that's taller than Bucky....
Devyn Ford will be taking a full trip and for those that don't know he moved his decision date up.
So far so good
What did he move it up to? I can't find him tweeting anything about it.
It had been moved up to May 18th. i don't know if he is referring to that or he moved it again.
That's my birthday, so it won't be anything new to be let down...
:(
May 18th I believe.
He moved it up to May 18th.
Ah, I thought it was moved up again since he said he was announcing May 18th since this was a recent post.
I'm not sure but I read somewhere it may be May like middle of the month between the 17th and 19th. Any day between those two dates.
Y'all can downvote me all you want, but imma speak the truth.
Ford commits to the good guys on the 18th of May.
You go ahead and speak that damn truth.
Hokies are getting 2019 WR Jacoby Pinckney back on campus. He's made several visits (Tennessee, Wake Forest, Oklahoma) over the past week.
Isn't Dorman HS still a powerhouse program?
Dorman high school is still a big dog school. Their campus is bigger than most universities in state. They have an on campus transit system haha.
I thought so. That's my surname...
Dorman HS football alum here. The school is a football giant. Two of my old teammates are currently on NFL rosters and another is Stanford's top receiver and they're even better now than when I played.
According to 247, VT just offered Mario Kendricks, a DT out of Florida. I've been clamoring for this kid to get an offer for months, and I really think he can be a prototypical DT for VT if he can add about 30 pounds while maintaining his get-off. Great twitch, packs a big punch, and seems to have a very good motor. Curious to hear if French feels the same way.
Um, prototypical you mean?
Haha yes, that is what I mean.
Thanks for sharing. A heads up, for embed codes generated by third-party services (Hudl, YouTube, Twitter, 247Sports, etc...), you can paste them directly into the comment or post text box. You do not need to use the link button, in fact, it will add additional unnecessary HTML that may screw things up.
I am setting the over/under at 2.5 commitments for Spring Game weekend. What do you have?
3
My guess right now would be slightly under, but the over is definitely possible.
Haha....way to go out on a limb
Just saw an Ohio State insider threw in a CB for Ford to tOSU after his visit there. Anyone know if there are any legs to it?
Nope, enjoying his visits.
I don't think that ball has legs, but have no personal sauce for it.
247 quoted Ford that they may be close to the top. Some worry but 0 reason to panic
Ya i saw where he actually said
"After this visit, Ohio State stands a little higher than the rest, but everyone is pretty much even,"
According to a comment on 247. And that he plans to return to osu again later this month....doing my best to keep the faith!!
Sheeeeit
Damn.
Wish we had some Longhorn Steakhouse gift cards instead of these Hardee's coupons.
Ew. Roadhouse any day over Longhorn. Hell the ones down here still allow smoking in the eating area, it's awful.
Jeezus. Where do you live?
And what year is it there?
Florida. Answers both questions perfectly
Almost not yet, but Dirty Myrtle is almost like that.
Keep the faith
Sorry guys, not as confident in this as I was before...
via GIPHY
Month old account with eight comments (all on recruiting posts) that are mostly oblique and vague?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Talked with a family member, but ok"????????????????????????????????????????????????????"
Is your last name Ford?
I think what Gobble is getting at is can you give anything other than the fact that you're now less confident? Why are you less confident? And how much less confident are you? If you have some secret sauce, that's fine, but the comment was super vague and we love a few juicy deets around these parts. Just add some color to your art and you'll fit in nicely.
And maybe add a picture of exactly who you are as your thumbnail
/s
Just color me skeptical about anything anyone without a track record of recruiting insider info says, especially when their account is registered a month out from one particular recruit's announcement and there is minimal discussion or anything beyond "keep the faith", "enjoying his visits", and "not as confident".
It's all about the lack of avatar.

Mom loves VT. Knows full well the depth chart and immediate playing time at VT. Was 100% VT prior to PSU visit. Went on PSU visit and they've put the "full-court press" and have done a great job getting commits/recruits to connect with each other. I asked where he was going and was told "honestly I don't know". TIFWIW.
Which is 100% correct.... the kid is keeping this stuff very quiet. Penn State has done a great job recovering.
See, now?

...is more like it.
Way to recover, have your leg, sir
This is what gives me hope that we'll pull this one out. I think it's easier to stick with a previous feeling/decision than to change your mind, especially with such a big decision. I'm sure PSU has him thinking, they are a great option, but in the end I hope he sticks with what he was thinking/feeling before the visit. Hearing mom loves VT doesn't hurt either!
So is VT not getting commits/recruits to connect? I mean, he's got to have some friends at VT as well. Hopefully, he goes with his first instinct, which was VT. Bad look for us, if he was 100% VT going into the PSU visit and ends up there, imo. Especially with our huge need at RB...
Maybe he has a connection to give him insight into this scenario, specifically and created a username to share.
The immediate write off of a new poster just because it isn't LA or BAG (who posts many of the same 'keep the faith,' or 'he's playing the game' type vague posts) is obnoxious. Why immediately ostracize someone who might be a contributor to the site?
It took me a while to build up "respect" that I "know something" . It's a right of passage to be doubted and challenged. LA came strong with his insight from the beginning so his was alittle easier road. . I got my ass chewed at the beginning because I gave out too much information. It's a balancing act.
If this guy knows something, then we will see, but also don't be a dick and be so vague that you have an exit way to back out of what you say. (not saying that you are)
I hear you. Meant nothing specifically to you, just providing an example.
I understand the position. I'm not sure everyone understands you can't always come out and say "I got my information directly from _________ (person)" It doesn't work like that 100% of the time.
I get being skeptical, but take it as such and move on. No need for any poster (not talking BAG here) to immediately call them out if you're interested in getting info in the future.
I'm good with it.... I got to the point of DGAF....
Then they should share.
As mentioned above, it's the vagueness of the comments that are making people question the legitimacy of his insight. Until the comments include actual information, they're all less "signal" and more "noise", y'know?
The 'noise' in one of the Recruiting Threads here is a guy actually talking recruiting? ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Nah.
"Keep the faith"
"enjoying his visits"
"not as confident"...
That's all noise.
That said, he just offered up some "signal" (see above).๐
Wasn't trying to be cryptic. My first post was after I talked to the family member about where VT stood (see VT/Clem battle). Thought I would pass that along since yall seem interested. Keep the faith and enjoying his visits were when it was all VT and he scheduled a commit date. Not as confident was based on info above. I may not see my source before Devyn commits, but if I do, I'll pass it along. Not trying to come across as some recruiting guru, as the only posts I've ever made have been on the 1 recruit I have heard anything on.
Like I said above: until you have a fun avatar, you get no love. /ssssideeye
All good, man. Part of the blowback is that your comments have been trending to the negative re us landing DF. We don't bitch as much about positive noise (in fact, we state our reputation as a site on it haha).
The comment you made above is plenty #sauce-y. I hope you're wrong about the ground PSU has made up, but thanks for the info. Legged up!
And they were narrow enough in scope and jussstt vague enough that, when I considered your account history, I thought you may just have been a troll. My apologies and here's one on me
HOW DOES IT NEVER FILL UP?
I'll own this criticism as it's right and constructive. I'm not immediately writing anyone off because they aren't LA or BAG, but all someone's got to do is say "I'm acquainted with family" etc and it comes out as a lot more authoritative and believable than "Keep the faith" and "I'm not feeling as confident". Is it possible that someone who knows Devyn Ford and his family would just create an account in the last month? sure. Just color me skeptical without the poster ever saying that.

Basketball News:
Just to put another log on the fire, a former 5 star McD's All-American 6'10" power forward is transferring from Kentucky with two years of eligibility left. His recruiting page from a few years ago shows a VT offer, as well as offers from many other VA, DC, and NC schools; he hails from Lynchburg originally. Didn't get a lot of playing time at Kentucky, he'd have to sit out a year and be available in 2019, who knows...
https://247sports.com/Player/Sacha-Killeya-Jones-69960
https://247sports.com/Player/Sacha-Killeya-Jones-69960/high-school-122878
Never really impressed by him. Better targets if a scholarship comes open.
6'10" - he's a little too tall for us
Bryan Hudson with another CB for us. To be unrealistically optimistic, I'm looking forward to him committing at spring game along with a surprise announcement from Devyn. Nobody try and talk me off this cliff.
I'll join you on that cliff

I think two commitments will be Nyquee and Hudson. With Devyn taking an official that weekend, its good for him to see the OL talent we will have in Hudson and Hanson, possibly others.
Love when BAG uses this GIF.
Everyone is going to have a big, ugly grin on their face soon.
DUDE, we talked about this, the clues have to be confusing as shit...... we can't make them think we actually talk to each other before something BIG....
What if Im just big and ugly?
Nerd can confirm
BAG and LAH having simultaneous vibes?
There's a Wiltfong CB floating out there that makes me suspicious.
and happy.
to whom?
OL commit(s) confirmed
I wasn't wrong! ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
I love you and I love this show
Classic bag coming with a classic gif!
Does anybody have a list of all the guys visiting this weekend?
Does anybody have a list of all the guys
visitingCommuting this weekend?FTFY
A four โญ๏ธ OL. With a crap load of offers!
Fantastic! And a very cool announcement!
BOOOOOOMMMMM
LETSSSS GOOOO!
HOKIES!!!!!!
Well that was fast. LETS GOOOO
Sick
With the 4 guys from this year's recruiting class, and two beefy 4 star's starting up next year, I am one happy fan.
I know its still very early but looking at 24/7, 10 of the 42 5* recruits for 2020 are in Va, DC, Md, and NC. With such a talent rich mid-Atlantic, we could take a huge step with that class.
Is it too much to ask that they keep announcing a new commit each day in the lead up to the spring game to build hype for the big recruiting weekend?
Our next commit will be big as well, but in a very different sense.
....is this a thats what she said joke?
You're on a watch list now. Probably need to watch your wording when talking about 17 year old kids...
lol just a joke bubs, just thought it read kinda funny the first time i read it. im really hoping this mystery recruit offers a ton of potential for car jokes in the near future
Dude they can't handle the hype. It has to be spaced out. Some room to move around, can't pull a fast one on these guys.
hmmm.... so what you're saying is someone big, and slow and works in tight spaces. ah ha! our next TE - QB conversion. Nailed it. Your subtle clues can't escape me. They do keep me on the edge of my seat though but when I focus on what you're really saying and grasp the tempo of your writing I understand. Thanks! Now back to my bowl of pinto beans that taste like a fiesta in my mouth.
Care to share?? o_0
Honestly, not really. Cryptic keeps us from Joe throwing the hammer and allows the kids to have their moments in the light.
I just wanted to rhyme.
These kids deserve the surprise and the show
Oh!! Sorry you were trying to be a poet and I didn't know it
So important but not a lineman?
Hoping that means some beef on the DLine, preferably a tackle.

Is there a car company with the same name?
Not unless it's some obscure budget brand.
Can't aFORD even the budget. Jk... i enjoy your subtle hints and please no one act like I know anything based on this terrible pun
You gotta be smithing me
Nyquee Hawkins
Is it just my growing optimism, or did the timing of the Hudson commit (tuesday afternoon) feel a little laid out to leave time for another commit for the spring game?

why stop at 1?! why not 2 commit?! or 5?!
Everything is planned for a reason with this coaching staff. It comes with the territory, they effectively use momentum. We aren't done, I have a feeling of a few more by the end of weekend.......
A few... as in 2-3 or 3-4? Either way, I'm ready for more info! As a side note: I'm sure I speak for most (if not all), but I definitely appreciate the insight. I love the excitement and buzz that recruiting generates during the off- season.
Anybody got a list of recruits visiting for the spring game?
Tuesday - Hudson commits
Wednesday - Release new uniforms
Thursday - ???
profit
I don't twitter...have any recruits said *fire* or "lit" about the new kicks?
I quickly scanned through both committed and possible committed players and I hardly saw any likes or retweets
It is great to see that MV will be at the spring game. Devyn Ford will there, right? Having MV in attendance will certainly help.
Yep. Not saying that MV7 wouldn't have been there regardless, but he was and still is Devyn's favorite athlete. I have a feeling they'll run into each other again.
Not gonna lie, MV made me instantly think Marching Virginians.
Pinckney or Hickman this weekend?
Neither...
Ahem
Cough cough
Please stop coughing on us
Another big target of ours...
Wouldn't exactly call him a target.
why not? Too "big time"?
Coaches don't like him much for whatever reason. Wouldn't really matter though IMO with the Tank situation playing out like it has.
Tank situation meaning us being the favorite for him? Haven't heard much on that front in a while. Or any WRs for that matter.
If we would accept it, Tank would commit to VT on the spot. But it seems like the only P5 school that would take him right now is UMD. After all that has happened in that recruitment, it's not exactly sitting well with those close to Tank, including Sheridan.
Is this going back to the size issue or something else?
100% about the size. I would take him simply based on his ball skills, but when we're only planning on taking 17 or so kids this cycle, it's hard to take a chance on a 5'7" corner.
247 still has 100% CBs for the good guys, and I think I read somewhere that we were his leader? Did something change since then? Am I thinking of the same kid (Tayvion Land)?
A lot has changed since then.
Yes, you are thinking of the right kid. He tried to commit back in the winter when he visited for a junior day, but we told him that he wasn't a take anymore st that point in time.
The unfortunate part for him is that if he had honored his original commitment, we would likely still be honoring it right now. It's much harder to ask a kid "no" when he's still committed than it is to tell him that he's not a take. So in a way, the Tahj fiasco cost two kids their spots at VT.
I appreciate the insight and info man. I know you guys try to keep stuff close to the vest, and can put you in a bad spot to divulge too much info in the event croots read these sites. I certainly 'preciate the insight you, BAG, and the likes always provide!
So we're essentially passing on two 4* recruits?
I assume he isn't a take either
If I am thinking the right kid, things may cool on him quickly by a lot of school. Great kid just may end up in the same situation as LALA
I feel bad for Tank. He has all the skill in the world, and was a legit top 100 type recruit until schools realized that he just wasn't going to grow anymore. Would be tough for anyone to get showered with that much praise for their entire life and then have everyone basically tell you that something that is completely out of your control is what is going to hold you back.
Is size that big a deal if a kid has legit talent? I mean if he's legit, why not take a chance on him at Nickle? Absolute worst case, if he's that good, he can be an excellent Special Teamer for you.
If this was last years recruiting numbers, I would say yes 100% but this year we don't have the room and have plenty that we are going for.
It is hard to give a scholarship to someone to place special teams (other than a snapper). I would love to have him if it wasn't this recruiting cycle.
Kid is going to be a great weapon somewhere is a huge chip on his shoulder. I really feel for the kid.
Would he switch positions BAG? I mean if he's that athletic could he not be used in other areas on the offensive side?
If the kid has the talent and the work ethic, I want him on the team. Even if they rarely get into the game, those kinds of players are absolutely vital toward setting the right culture for a team to succeed. The kid is rated a 4* composite by 247, so he's clearly got the skills in there, so absolutely take that chance on him. I'd much rather have him on the team than someone with less talent but the right size.
This is a what got us in trouble with Beamer tenure. To get to the next level, sometimes hard decisions have to be made. I would love to have him on the team and he still might end up on the team but I am only a fan and not behind the door to see what maybe coming down the line in recruiting or even what the coaches even think.
We have seen plenty of 4*'s not pan out and I am not going to start that debate but the 4* doesnt apply to everyone. Also I doubt we will get a less talented guy but more of a guy that fits our system.
It's a touchy issue and he is getting the wrong end of the stick here but sometimes this stuff sucks. I mean we went through the same crap with Beck last year in our own backyard. Just let it play out
I mean don't get me wrong, I don't want a roster of only those kind of players, but having one or two with legit skill but undersized isn't a bad thing. I'd also say that a big part of the problem with Tech toward the end of the Beamer era was that we ended up too reliant on trying to find the right sized player rather than finding talent. I'd say the flop with Marcus Davis probably put us back more than most. He was supposed to be the game changer, and instead kinda showed we didn't know what we were doing.
Hands of bricks, and he couldn't block at all
couldn't block or didnt block.

I completely agree and Fuente has been doing a lot of "cutting the fat". There were a lot of early contributors in the class last year and there are going to be a lot of early contributors this class. If we look at this class being smaller with the approach at recruiting, we don't allow much room for error of "fat" for guys in our locker room.
Even our walkons have shown some huge upside and contributed this Spring.
This kid rocks he just is in the wrong recruiting class. Smaller class then most years, he would be a take any other time.
Fingers crossed he ends up here and we have a spot but we are most likely going to add another DB this cycle in the coming days making that spot even harder for him to take.
Also I hate talking about recruits like this cause I am always worried they read this stuff.
I guess I just want my cake and to eat it, too. If he is reading this, I hope he understands that we would love to have him here.
Days... hours... same thing, right?
you know my style, Going to be as vague as a I can be. That was probably the most up front I have been ever.
But... I've been instructed that the numbers always work out?
Last year yes, this year. its gonna be tight. There are few that have a spot no matter what but its tighter then a nun's butthole watching mens beach volleyball
Who would you put in the category of "spot no matter what?" I'm curious about who the staff deem are a must get.
Thanks for all the insight!
I'm sure you can figure that one out based on who everyone wants.
Realistic guys are Devyn, Savion Jackson (not coming), Brandon Smith, JR Walker, Carroll, Wright (nope), Hellams, Cam Kelly (no shot), T. Robinson, Houston
Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to write that out.
yes I was too lazy
We got a better shot at Brandon Smith than Savion Jackson?
0>0
Yes. #2 for Smith right now and I think we're in the bottom half of Jackson's top 5 unfortunately.
The thing I fear is missing out on a recruit that we want/expect is inevitable so why chance that and take in Tank?
My thoughts exactly
I'm on your side. Would be a great third corner on obvious passing downs IMO, which is very valuable these days.
Kind of sucks when we have a talented kid that is 100% Hokie and we still won't take him. While I understand size can be a huge issue, I feel like it doesn't hurt to take someone like that in a recruiting class early on.
It hurts him, having him commit, shut it down, then him having to find a place later in the game would be much worse then just letting it all play out. You can't do that to someone, I know it's done but I don't think Fuente is that kind of coach.
The kid deserves to be given the best chance to land at the best spot.
How are his hands? Strikes as a bit of Kalil Pimpleton or CJ Carroll type of player in terms of size and ability. But yeah, with limited schollies, it's hard to take a chance on a player that may or may not work out in our system. I trust Fuente fully on this one.
do you really want to throw this kid into the WR room that we have now..... I mean he may have talent but WR may be the one area he shouldn't move to based off recruiting the past few years.
I see what you did there.
I would try and get my doctor to give me some HGH
Not exactly. There are.....options.
I wish I was a little bit taller...
Grew up with a guy that went through a similar surgery. Basically was in a wheelchair with his legs extended straight in from of him from the 3rd to the 10th grade. Really horrible stuff.
For a minute, I thought we confusing Adarius Jones from Bishop Sullivan with Sheridan Jones. Sheridan is shooting for the moon with the 3 school he has on top but is Adarius someone we have a shot with since we need DT so badly? Also, could he be a way back into Bishop Sullivan?
BS football will likely be a shell of its current self in a year or 2, so wouldn't be so concerned with the latter, but yes. AJ is a huge need.
We lead pretty heavily for Adarious. I get the idea that he's waiting things out for a bigger offer because he was hurt all of last year, but I'm not sure that offer comes.
Adarious named us a leader right now. Believe we cooled on Smiley
We also have a verbal from the new England kid, Sainristil, and he is only 5ft 9. Would be ok with limiting the number of shortstacks, but I also wonder how much the Tahj mess and now this hurts our in-state recruiting. Also, I have no idea what I am talking about...so there is that. Just a fan with a keyboard and a VT football jones.
Not as much as people (myself included) made it out to hurt us when it first happened. VT got pretty lucky with BS dissolving the way that it has. If that school had turned into the sustained powerhouse that many though it would, the Tahj situation would have basically shut off our pipeline into that school, especially with how Tank's recruitment is going.
