OT: Lets Discuss Movies! 2018 Edition

I feel like the last one has drug on too long. The movie season is upon us and we may as well have a new thread to delve into the shiners and stinkers.

I am going to try and Movie Pass my way into Infinity War tonight. I will make a visit around lunch time to the theater and attempt to get a ticket. Good god is this movie long. Right at 2hr 40min.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

As I mentioned in another thread, we are skipping moviepass and opted for advance tickets to Violet Crown. For two purposes, to reserve seating, and a ticket. And beer since Regal in Lynchburg doesn't serve beer.

As for other movies, my top 3 on the year so far: A Quiet Place, Black Panther, and Isle of Dogs. Honorable mention, Ready Player One and Chappaquiddick.

EDIT: SOMEONE TALK TO ME ABOUT ISLE OF DOGS LITERALLY NONE OF MY FRIENDS HAVE SEEN IT OTHER THAN MY WIFE AND IT WAS AMAZING!

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

A Quiet Place was a masterfully done thriller. Absolutely incredible work from Krazinski.

Wes Anderson is just not my thing. Nor most peoples', apparently. Good luck.

He's normally not mine either, but isle of Dogs was different. I'd recommend giving it a shot on redbox or digital download or something. It's worth a watch.

Only movie I've seen this year. I liked it.

I'm here for the memes, I just stay for the football.

I have already said it, but this movie was surprisingly good if you like that sort of movie. They did a great job on a crowdfunded budget.

Great to hear, was worried it would be an attempt to rehash old jokes and nothing original. Meow I need to go see it

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I've seen it twice and laughed my ass off both times. There are definitely some nods to the original, but it's done well and there's plenty of new material as well. If you go, make sure you stay all the way through the end credits.

Going to see Infinity War tonight at 9. Can't wait.

I'm going to see A Quiet Place tonight. Hoping it lives up to the hype.

"For those who have passed, for those to come, reach for excellence."

If you like thrillers and you like movies that you can tell mean a tremendous amount to the person who wrote/created the story, you will love this movie.

The Office is one of my favorite shows, and John Krasinski is on my short list of man crushes. I'll give any project he works on a chance just based on that alone.

Not a movie, but I'm highly anticipating Jack Ryan on Amazon in August.

I think they already renewed a second season. I can't wait for it either.

Ready Player One was decent, read the book after for more enjoyment.
Black Panther was good, but I am not sure it was huge steps better than any other Marvel Book.
Tomb Raider was a nice attempt on a reboot and enjoyable for a $6 movie.

Not a movie but anyone else watch the Archer Season premier last night? Laughed my ass off like always...

And like all good things, its coming to an end, and possibly sooner than thought. They just announced they are scrapping unlimited tickets for new subscribers and are permanently moving forward with a max limit of only 4 tickets per month. On top of that, their finances aren't exactly in the best of states right now, so even this desperate attempt to tread water might not last long. Have to also figure they are going to eventually close all unlimited subscriptions to the new model as soon as they're able to find the legal means to do so.

Get me through the month of May, and I should be good.

Do there T&C not include that they can change the T&C at any time? Credit Cards do this all the time. I am not surprised they are not doing well financially.

Not exactly. They are just offering four a month now with iheartradio. They haven't announced whether the former one a day option would come back. Lowe said he didn't know if it would, but if he said it did no one would sign up for the current one.

Wow. I'm..... speechless. What a movie.

No spoilers, but yea it was. Loved it

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

So found this out today. Lots of changes to movie pass have happened. New members only get 4 movies a month. And now existing members such as myself cannot watch a movie more than once with it. And you cannot cheat and just check into another movie because they are going to require pic uplaods of stubs. Too good to be true is ending and I doubt the whole thing last much longer.

All good things come to an end

Well I am happy I did not pay for a year long subscription.

Your year subscription would've been covered in 8-12ish movies depending on price. Even the 4/month deal is really good. They have to change the model due to the people on the high side of the bell curve. Once moviepass is gone I'll revert to 4-5 movies a year, as opposed to about 3/month.

Once moviepass is gone Regal and AMC will sweep up the remains with their own versions. I think Moviepass has already changed the landscape for the better.

The sad part is, Moviepass has said they want less than Regal and AMC give Costco for those ticket packages you can get at their stores.

But even four movies/month is still an incredible value.
